Blaming automated billing systems, merchant software, He will say whatever is needed to buy time. It appears as though misappropriated client funds are carrying his business and lifestyle. Everything is "5-10 business days" or "the card is showing as declined on my end". You would think that a licensed tax professional would run meticulous accounting on their business accounts--not here. You will have to pay another more reputable firm to correct everything. Spend countless hours disputing credit card charges. Etc. This is absolutely terrifying that someone like this has all of your most privileged information. I provided organized records, mileage logs, income documents, and supporting information through the client portal early in the process. After that, communication became extremely difficult. For months, I repeatedly called, texted, and followed up asking for updates. Many calls went unanswered, messages were ignored for long stretches of time, and I was frequently told things like "I'm busy right now" or "I'm out of the office, I'll call you back," only to hear nothing further. When I was finally able to reach him, it was often late in the evening and I was repeatedly asked to resend information that had already been uploaded previously. I have included screenshots showing the pattern of communication and lack of response over time. One major red flag for me was being asked to have my wife sign a power of attorney that was backdated roughly 20 years, despite the fact that she is only 36 years old. By December 2025 -- roughly eight months after I originally hired him -- the returns were finally "ready" to submit. When I asked about payment options with the IRS, I was told I would "have to" pay well over $1,000 per month. When I explained that was not financially realistic for my family, I was essentially told I had no other options. I also asked about representation before the IRS and was told I could either handle the calls myself or pay additional money for him to do it, but that the outcome would supposedly be the same either way. At that point, I lost confidence in the process. I ultimately reviewed and corrected portions of the returns myself and submitted them directly to the IRS by mail. Some returns contained errors that required correction after rejection notices were received. After educating myself on the IRS process and speaking directly with IRS representatives, I learned there were in fact multiple compliance and payment-plan options available depending on financial circumstances. My experience was extremely frustrating, drawn out, expensive, and ultimately left me feeling like I had to finish the process myself after paying thousands of dollars for professional help. I was however handed off to a class B accountant who took a long time to prepare my returns. Despite having all of my documents ready in February my return was not completed until October 16th, the day after the very last day possible because of a special holiday. Now normally I don't mind extending, but her staff were so overloaded they could not deliver until last minute. The worst part was that my taxes were done improperly to the tune of a six figure underpayment. I spent the next year recovering from that mistake. Their lack of ability to complete my returns accurately and on time literally cost me five figured in penalties not to mention the time to recover from not paying what I needed to during the year. Despite multiple requests to do tax planning throughout the year, her staff were not able to make time for me which I believe also contributed to the last minute and incorrect filling. Perhaps I was not high on her client list, but this firm was beyond the worst experience I have ever had with an accountant. I was forced to choose a new provider because my previous accountant changed firms and I could not use them because of a non compete clause. So I had to try someone new. There are numerous instance where I found his knowledge in tax laws and customer service to be extraordinarily good. For my 2010 tax returns - it took us a long fight with IRS to get my refund, even though I had given up, Jeff insisted that I should get my refund, we had to stay with IRS for multiple hour long calls and finally got my refund on a complex filing. No other tax consultant will be patient and persistent enough to work with IRS to get their clients the fair refund. He never advertises himself as 'maximizing returns' , but very willing to work with you in an optimal return within the confines of the tax laws. Stay away from those who advertise as maximum return - it is an usually a segway for an IRS audit. And he has a wonderful staff who support in the tax filing ! Before finding Jeff, I was alternating between H/R block and filing it myself online. The biggest problem with H/R block is that the tax consultants have no motivation to do a good job, never updated with the latest information and have extremely inconsistent performance from one location to other. Few Tips: (1) Get all your deduction items in order - carry any receipts etc and preferably prepare an excel sheet with all your deduction items (2) If you have any stock trades - you might want to generate the Schedule D yourself - some companies such as TD Ameritrade provide free tools to generate Schedule D - if not you can find one online where you can upload your transactions and the software will generate the Schedule D (3) If you traveled internationally, prepare an excel sheet with each date of travel - if it was a business travel day or if it was a personal travel Finally - keep all the records - receipts, tax filing ... + make some of the notes yourself and keep them in a folder - IRS can audit tax filings and if you get a knock on your door - you want to make sure that you have your papers with you.
