Fortunately, Kebab Land is always on hand to sort me out. If you turn left onto Dawlish Road having left the Bristol Road, you can't miss the bright green exterior. Compared to the silent vigil of the staff at Big John's and Adam's Place, the staff are always talkative and genuinely friendly. I genuinely feel that I WILL have a good night after I have received their blessing as I saunter off back home. Prices are as competitive and as cheap as everywhere else on the strip, but Kebab Land's advantage is the quality of its food:The majority of people I know are always put off by the idea of a kebab and feel that it may contain mystery meat or that it just "looks dirty", but Kebab Land seems to defy all these naysayers. Indeed, post-kebab shame is a common feeling following a gorging of my own, but Kebab Land's delicious food combined with relatively little grease removes (or at least minimises) the takeaway regret entirely. Compared to other eateries, where chips can be a bit hit and miss, Kebab Land's fries are always hot and are delicious. They're always more than happy to give you a generous serving of sauce with your meal, too. Can't be bothered to stagger down the road? Just give them a call and get a little piece of heaven delivered to your door.

However, if you are in the mood for some fast food but would like to go a little up market then Kebab Land is maybe your best bet when in Selly Oak. It serves the usual favourites but with less grease and a bit more attention to culinary excellence, plus a few health orientated options such as wraps. The pay off of this is that you have to pay a bit more and maybe wait a little longer, though this last one isn't really much of a problem as Kebab Land is a nice clean place with a good atmosphere. In conclusion, Kebab Land is probably the best place in Selly Oak to buy a kebab. The little extra you pay there is definitely worth it for the jump in quality.

The Turkish staff were very friendly and very efficient, 10 of us did not have to wait very long to get served. The place looked reasonably clean, but as with all of these places, could have been cleaner. I had a very tasty chicken shish kebab with all the dressings (Salad, sauces and lots of chillies, much to the dislike of my derrière the following morning). We were very excited as were going to a restaurant after about six months due to Covid-19. We dressed up. The welcome was very warm and the deco was amazing. The food-some of it was nice. But one of the four dishes was cold and another one was the wrong order. Not a problem, we thought-these things happen. They were busy, so it took us a while to get the attention of a waiter to let them know-during which time a few ended up eating about half the cold dish. Whilst the waiter accepted that he might have misheard the order and hence got the dish wrong they still refused to replace it with the correct dish! As for the cold dish they said it had half been eaten. This was extremely disappointing and very poor customer service. I felt embarrassed, as had been recommending this place to my friends for ages- one had travelled from Shropshire. For the sake of a small bowl of dal, it left a very bad taste in our mouth, has earned Varanasi this poor review and loss of future customer. Mrs Kale ad Friends.

I thought that i had written a review for Molly's before but cant see it so here goes…read more Molly's is a proper old fashioned type cafe serving all manner of cooked breakfasts, sandwiches, lunches etc. It has parking at the rear (although you can usually get parked somewhere on The Green) and has about 8 or 9 tables for 4 people. It gets extremely busy at lunchtimes - to be expected because of its quality reputation. The food is really good, well cooked and a fair price. The staff are incredibly happy and chatty and cant do enough to help. Oh and proper MUGS of tea. Win. They also do free delivery within 3 miles for orders of £8 which im guessing is quite popular with the local offices as im always seeing the Molly's vans round and about. Ive knocked one star off (i wish i could just take off half a star...) because their website is really quite rubbish. The staff however didn't seem to be pushing us out the door and were not unhappy when we ordered dessert, even after watching the lights within the kitchen being turned off lol. The menu itself is huge and definitely geared towards seafood, although there are some meat only entrees as well. I started off with the SCALLOPS and HAGGIS and loved it. Honestly the scallops didn't need to be there and the haggis on it's own was amazing - this is showing my true Scottish side lol. If you don't know what haggis is I suggest googling, but only if you're brave. I also ordered one OYSTER as I couldn't remember if I had tried a Scottish oyster before. My parents warned me that it may be conch-sloppy (Bahamian reference) but the oyster was lovely. Great presentation, although very pricey for one oyster! For my entree I had the PORK BELLY and PRAWNS. Prawns were a bit fishy for me, but I find this to be the norm with prawns in England, and the pork belly was slightly less fatty than I'm used to, but overall this was a solid dish. For dessert I had the TREACLE TART and loved it. Not exactly on my diet, but I wasn't sure when I'd be back on this side of the pond again and I wanted to take full advantage of all the desserts I'll be missing out on lol. We were a group of 5 (2 parents and our 3 daughters aged 11-19). Our starters were: Haggis and Cheese Spring Rolls; Salt and Pepper Squid; Chicken Terrine; Smoked Haddock Scotch Egg and Chili Garlic Prawns. Couldn't fault any of them at all. Our mains were: Sirloin Steak (cooked just how we asked for - blue) with a half Lobster; Tuna Steak Melt; Crab and Lobster Burger; Angus Beef Burger with a half Lobster; and a Whole Baked Lobster. The dishes were good value - £31 for the surf and turf, £26 for the whole lobster..... We all felt that the lobsters could have been a bit meatier but they were cooked beautifully (not hint of rubberyness!). The espresso martini's are SUPERB and our server was terrific. Yes, service was a little slow at times but, as I've said, the place was heaving, the staff apologised where necessary and to be honest we were there for a leisurely family meal so we were in no hurry. In all I highly recommend this restaurant, it's certainly a great addition to the expanding dining scene in Shrewsbury.
