On a Friday, Juan stopped by to survey our gardening needs, had some helpful suggestions, and said he could get started the following Monday. His crew got right to work weeding our silver carpet grass as well as trimmimg overgrown ivy and general clean-up work around the front & backyard. We soon learned that Juan & his crew were MUCH more than a maintenance service. Because there was some extra yard-design work we had held-off on, we realized we'd better tackle it now that we had such a capable crew. We had some design ideas and Juan said 'We can absolutely do all of that deconstructed granite work, design it with bender boards, pick-up your desired plants at a nearby nursery (as well as some gravel for design) and plant everything. In short, within 2 days, Juan, Daniel, Jesus & crew transformed an overgrown back area into a desirable drought-tolerant destination on our property. Not only that, they took down a small concrete block wall and custom-built us some really great swinging-gate redwood doors for easy access. (At a third of the cost a vinyl door company had quoted us!) They also did so much more (including scraping & painting the side of our 10' barn) and were always ready & willing to pitch-in however we needed them with really great attitudes and super-pleasant work ethics. Not only will they be our go-to garden maintenance crew, they will also be our first call for any other yardscaping we might need done in the future. Miguel Pineda (of MAP Landsaping Service) came to our home and gave us an estimate to remove sod…read moreand surface roots from our front and side yards. We had just removed two large mature poorly-placed trees that had been in our yard for 40+ years. The quote was reasonable and we had him do the job. They did a good job, so we showed him the plans I had drawn up for a low-water landscape design for our yard. Miguel gave us a a competitive bid for the work, which included constructing a flagstone patio next to an existing planter. He arranged for us to get his wholesale prices for plant material and we payed directly for boulders and crushed rock so he didn't need to mark any of that up, although he budgeted for installation labor. He also took care of removing the old sprinkler system and running a new drip system with pressure regulators/filters. We had to wait for some other jobs that Miguel had going to finish in order to start the project, but he was honest and transparent about when he could start. Miguel is knowledgeable on plant selection as well as setting up drip irrigation systems with the latest materials and methods. The finished yard looks absolutely great and closely reflects the design plans I had drawn up. We are really happy with the job Miguel and his crew did and would enthusiastically hire MAP Landscaping again do do other projects. We found him fair and easy to work with and are very happy with the results.

When our landscape…read morelighting was not working after he left, we asked our regular gardener and he said that wires had been cut and lighting and wires were thrown aside when we had the trees removed by Miguel. We had to pay to have it reconnected. MAP Landscaping also broke a pipe under the ground and did not tell us. Water had been gushing out until our regular gardener discovered it. When I brought it to Miguel's attention he came over and capped it. He didn't repair what his crew broke, he just put a cap on it and left. I am now having it fixed and will have to go to small claims court to get our money back for the repairs. I would for sure use a different, honest and caring company. The original yard cleanup was never properly completed. I paid for the job as complete with a few items remaining that were supposed to be taken care of that week, and a month later are still not done. I called Mr Cruz repeatedly over the month to try and get him to come out to see the remaining items and he would say he was coming on a day and then just not show up. He did this more than three times. I could go through the laundry list of items, for a simple example cut branches are still throughout the yard even though the original cleanup and several weekly maintenances have been done. When I break down the hourly rate for the monthly service, Mr. Cruz is charging me $75/man hour worked for his team members to not do a good job. I'll add some photos below so you can decide for yourself if this is what you want your yard to look like if it is serviced by Cruz.

He is very knowledgeable and a complete pro. I wanted to get sod place in my backyard and I've called around trying to find someone to do it without paying an arm and a leg. Well Lopez came in and gave me a very fair quote and then he mentioned that I should get sprinklers installed as well. I didn't want to do it because I thought he was just up selling his services. He told me that new sod has to be watered between 3 to 4 times a day or it would die. I thought he was playing on my fears at first, but he was so concerned that I would blame him if my sod died that he made me a deal I could not pass up so that he could install the sprinklers and he was right. If I did not water that sod 3 times a day, it would be dead right now. The Cali sun is so hot that even with 3 times a day, parts of my lawn started to die and I had to water those areas by hand. What was suppose to take him 2 days actually ended up taking him and his team one. This guy cares about his rep and his job. He wants to do good work and he wants you to be proud of his work. He believes in customer service and for such a young guy to have those kind of values is amazing. You don't see that kind of service anymore so in my book, he is my guy. He even fixed another problem I had with my front yard. It took him 2 minutes to figure out what was wrong with my front sprinklers. I had another guy look at it and he destroyed part of my lawn to try to figure out the problem and he still couldn't do it and he had 4 Saturday's to figure it out. God I wish that guy had a yelp so I could give him 0 starts. If you need to install sod and don't want to do it yourself, call this guy.
