Always a good walk
The Rua Augusta is - despite being overloaded with visitors - a lot of fun. It's the biggest and most famous walking / shopping street in Lisbon. But some of the parallell and side streets are fun as well, be sure to check them out too.
Mostly is just shops, bakeries and restaurants. There is some good shopping to be found, if you bring some time. The bakeries differ very much in quality, just try them out or check online in advance.
What I would avoid is eating here. Most menus cater clearly to tourists and the food did really not look special....the same goes for the prices. A good spot to sit down for some drinks and people-watching though. But the better meals you definitely will find elsewhere!
As much fun it is in daytime, it is a lot more atmospheric when it gets dark. The mood, the lighting....it looks very charming...magical even at times. And many shops open at least until 8pm, many of them longer. So you won't be bored.
We came here a couple of times in daytime....but every day we came for a stroll after dinner. Good to burn some calories after filling up the stomach. It never got boring and we always enjoyed the (window) shopping and checking out the numerous bakeries for some dessert.
This part of Lisbon is very easy to navigate, since it's laid out in a grid pattern. It's good fun to walk from the Praca Do Comercio up to Rossio and around. Good fun. read more
