The school in a few years and with real leadership will be an excellent school. There is no real leadership and what leadership there is is not strong and directed in the right way. The current people there seem to believe that by making the building more attractive is what is most important and seem to have lost site of the fact it isa school and it is the education that is more important. Needless to say I got my children out as soon as possible and they are now nearly back up to the level they should be at.

I have been to this school when I was small and they provide good education that you children needs in a way that doesn't pressurize them and creates an environment. The school has excellent Ofsted Reviews and is well resourced. All have my children have been there and benefitted from the dedicated expertise of the staff. The only downside i feel, is that there could be better disabled access as it is on three levels at some points and the stairs are difficult to negotiate. The disabled toilet is in the main recption area. There has recently been some renovation work as the old ROSLA block was demolished and a new state of the art gym block has been added. The original School has recently been demolished and the pupils have temporarily relocated to Winston House which isn't ideal but serves the purpose until the brand new purpose built building is ready at the end of 2009. The teachers are completely devoted to the children and really put in a lot of time to bring out the best in them. The School works closely with St John's Church and is a Church of England School, instilling great morals into the children which shows in their impeccable behaviour. Although in what most would say is a deprived area, the children at St John's don't want for anything - It's a great little school and a brilliant start for youngsters.
