K-Fashion & More - My pants and horrible experiences both times, first purchase and back for tailoring

Horrible service. We came to look for 2 black ao dai for funeral. Then lady gave me the bag and…read moretold us to find the size myself with so much attitude. She raised the price up to $50 for a solid black ao dai versus $25-35 as I overheard she told other people earlier with similar fabric. I spent all that time looking for the sizes already, didn't want to waste those time so reluctantly bought them. She said she can adjust the length of pants for us. Then I came back to cut the pants shorter. 3 women there gave me the attitude look. One of them didn't look at us but told my sister to measure for me without any instruction; then told us to come back in a bit. When we picked up, they asked for tailor fee, which they said it came with the purchase of ao dai we bought. And we had to measure ourselves. Horrible experience. After this, I found out so many ao dai places with very competitive price and way nicer experience. NEVER come back

Posted on Facebook and friends approved my new taste in fashion. I even bought a pair of pants to go with the color. Came back this Monday to find the store closed earlier than the schedule. No signs of why. Okay. Granted. It was day 2 of the new year. Came back today to find the long shirt I tried. Couldn't find it. So, I asked an employee. There were 4 seamstresses and a lady putting away new arrivals. She's the only person that spoke some English. She gave me an impression of "can't you see I'm busy" and said "it can be anywhere." Yeah. Okay. I found one I liked and asked for price. She said $65. Uh? Before new year, it was $75. Other store would sell me similar fabric with different designs for $60. I don't like the way they do business. A Vietnamese lady walked in wanting to try a colorful áo dài that was hanging up high. She first spoke English. Then, changed to Vietnamese. I didn't pay attention to what happened. But as I was leaving, she disappeared. I hope she got what she needed. I'm out of here.

There seems to be a dozen great clothing stores inside this wonderful little Mall located in Alief in the Far West suburbs of Houston outside the Beltway 8. This whole mall is Vietnamese, and there are some great Vietnamese food and drink items in here, as well as desserts. And there are also all these great boutiques such as BMT Collections, with a lot of cheap and very unique and original clothing that you might really love if you come and give it a try. Barbie can spend hours in here, at what seems like dozens of boutiques and clothing stores, and usually finds great deals and very different and exciting items.

It was 2 days before Lunar New Year and I was desperately looking for a new outfit to impress my coworkers. I came here right before they were closing. I told the ladies I need a long shirt of size 46. The size was not the problem but the fabric needed to be firm and stiff. There are soft and flimsy type but they feel like a jersey not fashionable for my money. I planned to spend about $40 for my new outfit. Because these clothes were manufactured overseas by many different factories, the sizes and styles are so vastly different. After about 45 minutes of trying everything they got, I gave up. I'll just have to try again next year.

So I got two metallic leggings for the price of one. And now, my hot pink metallic leggings from here are my bf's fave leggings that I own! (He likes when I wear anything that is really tight and really shiny LOL) This is not the place to take your grandma shopping. She'd probably have a heart attack coming here LOL. These are the kinds of clothes you wear when you want to show off your body. There's a lot of short skirts and shorts, skinny jeans, leggings, crop tops, tank tops, sequins, fishnet, metallics, adult language clothing, and short cutout dresses. There's lots of neon colored clothes (my fave!). I also love that they have different jeans with different types of rips in them. I've never seen this much variety in ripped jeans. They also have a lot of lingerie and tons of belts. They have a lot of purses, and there's a lot of jewelry behind the cashiers. I like some of the jewelry on display on some of the mannequins, but it's a bit awkward to look at the jewelry right behind the cashiers. They also have a TV showing popular music videos. Yesterday they played "Turn Down For What." LOL They lose a star for the weird security tagging. I love leggings, but a lot of them have the security tag at the top of the leggings pinning the top opening shut, so it's hard to look at the label and impossible to try on. I don't think they let you return anything metallic. Just be super sure of your size before you buy anything metallic, I guess. And I think you can use your credit card, but they have a minimum, and I can't remember what the minimum is. I think it's $10. I love coming here, usually after getting my manicure at Belle just a few doors down!

The store itself is bigger than most of the crammed ao dai shops near the food court, but it's also one of the sleepiest (#1) spots in the mall. There are gems, but they're just waiting to be found, likely at a price that is less competitive than most. The clothing variety is limited, but there seems to be a solid selection for kids. Unlike similar stores like Cali Fashion (#2), the inventory is vastly improved and there is an abundant collection of accessories. Some of the clothing quality is questionable, only because some of their supposed newer items almost look as if they're used and the semi-inflated price tag doesn't help. Service here is also a crapshoot. Speaking Vietnamese will obviously result in smoother shopping, but I can't help but feel like the treatment is still lukewarm at best. While I am sure they accept credit card, all of my previous transactions have been cash only. Shopping with a purpose goes a long way for stores like this. Casually browsing is fine, but not a good way to spend time in these types of places. Find the description of the item online and a pic, and shop around looking for that. ___________ (#1) As in, very few people are ever here when I am. As I was walking towards the store thinking "oh I should buy some clothes for mom here." The bitch of a store owner pushed me out of the store and yelled at me for stepping inside. Legit, I only had one foot at the door and she yelled at me. She was screaming that I wouldn't buy anything, I'm too anorexic to shop there and pushed me out. Maybe because BC I was a teen or because of my body size, she was being prejudice against me; but regardless, I wanted to buy clothes for my mom. I'm 24 now and I'm surprise this place is still open. Fuck her and her store. Tan Phat fashion is right, its for Phat people. Also, the clothes are ugly. You can picture elderly Vietnamese people wearing the attire. Or people who are straight up--fresh off the boat from Vietnam.

Contrary to the name claim, there is nothing Hong Kong about this mall. It should have been named Saigon City Mall which would have been more appropriate. Aside from the huge anchor Asian grocery store in the middle, the mall is flanked by an assortment of Vietnamese-oriented beauty/cosmetics, nail, phone, apparel, gifts, pho and Asian-centric mom-n-pop stores with a sleepy food court on one end. There are quite a few signs pointing to Massage upstairs. The other prominent anchor tenant is Shabu Zone. Generally, around 50% of the stores were closed. Parking lot is Lone Star state size. Nothing else exciting to write about. Certainly, a coulda, shoulda, woulda experience. Sure you'll like this mall if you want to experience Vietnamese culture.

It's just a neat experience every time I go and I'm able to get Asian products at a decent price.
