Average price for a meal is around £8/£9 which is very reasonable for Lyme and although we have found lots of very nice places to eat in Lyme they have tended to be very pricey. This is a pub mainly with a little restaurant off to the side. It's very cosy, decorated in lovely seaside colours and has a very nice atmosphere. I would say the food is pub food rather than top of the range restaurant food (this is just an observation and not a criticism) however everything was cooked perfectly and served beautifully. My children ate every scrap of their meal and so did we. In the end we went back again at the end of the holiday and our second meal was just as good!! After dinner we ordered the cheese board with local cheeses and delicious biscuits. A great find and will definitely be going again on our next trip!.

Disappointing. Came here for our final night for a meal in Lyme Regis. Overpriced and charged…read moretwice! When I called the restaurant to tell them I got told to contact my bank for the refund. After spending half an hour explaining to the bank what happened they told me the restaurant should have refunded immediately over the phone. Up to 45 days now I have to wait for nearly £50! Although on the night the lovely waitress was faultless the man on the phone clearly needed a course in customer service. Do not recommend!

But they serve a fantastic pint of Doom Bar and have a terrace with a wonderful view of the blue lias cliffs to the east of Charmouth, which catch the light from the setting sun and reflect the steel grey of the sea. Nowhere else in Lyme can match it as a location for a preprandial pint or two. But I would never go here otherwise.

Unfortunately I left this decision to luck as time was running out for dinner, didn't have a good signal to verify, and the result is that I totally believe The Cobb is a 2-star business, as the rating reflects! Unfortunate. First of all, you must order at the counter and pay for everything as you go - no tabs. Really? What the hell. I'm sitting down for a meal and every time I order a drink I don't really feel like going through the entire (slow) payment process. Especially when the back end of that process involves a rank glass of red wine that is entirely off and shouldn't be served to guests. PHOOOEY. The meals were...errm, really lackluster. Globby plates of food. My grilled cod atop processed mash potatoes was a beige disaster. The salad was not dressed with anything. My husband's steak was gray. Everything was blobs. Just, no. The meals taste about as good as the chalkboard menus are written -- sloppy and without artistic flair. It's relatively kid-friendly with some high chairs and a kids menu (which looks gross, to be honest). We ordered some bread for our antsy toddler, and had to pay 50p for it--- given we were spending upwards of 60 quid, this would've been a normal gesture to just throw it in, but heaven forbid. One upside? They have free wifi. I suggest you use it to find a better place to eat, honestly. Our waitress was nice but bound by the terrible service policies of this place, so I just can't vouch for it. Try the Harbour Inn just a few minutes walk down the boardwalk.

The barmaid when I visited was unfriendly and unhelpful - but that was only one member of staff! The locals that were there were likewise unfriendly and did not make you feel welcome. Not a pub I will return to or would recommend.

We used to live in Dorset and the fact that a recommendation travelled 4000 miles is impressive...but could the place deliver on a damp grey November Thursday? 13.00 struck on the town clock and in we walk to the quiet cafe bar area, to be met by some delightful staff and seated quickly, after a drink in the rather fetching contemporary bar area. Now this place is not just another seaside cafe...oh no...it's a cut above that. The art on the wall has whimsey, and the large arm chairs would be more often seen in an urban Starbucks setting. The restaurant windows all over look the bay and even on a grey November day there was atmosphere, simple jazz influenced music playing at just the the right level to create ambiance and not kill it. The location on the sea front, is a short sea shell throw away from the new beach, you do indeed have lots of sand in Lyme these days! The sea front had a make over in 2012 and now even has a very smart National Trust shop and was a real surprise. We had taken two local friends and we all ordered, fish chips with mushy peas for some, fresh mussels in a wonderful cream sauce for others and tempura battered vegetables. To drink we had Fentimans ginger beer, Guinness and water. All got 10/10. The bill 80 quid for six was very good value, and we left with a wonderful glow, to go to the gallery in the town and buy a small piece of Garry Jones art . He has an art piece on the restaurant wall....a car door...yes an actual car door with a fantastic ceramic dog leaning out of it! Priceless humour that cannot fail to make one smile. This place is a real find and a cut above the average seaside eatery.

We had avoided all week because it looks from the ouside…read morelike it's going to be a bit down market situated as it is amongst the chip shops and amusement arcade. It looks very modern and loud. It was shear luck that we ended up here as we could not get a table at our first choice restaurant. It was really good. Lovely food and excellent entertainment with a very accomlished jazz duo. The atmoshere was brilliant even though it was not full that night. Highly recommended.
