Caper Beach Club  Unit C311…read more Dear Owners of C311, Your condo is spacious, comfortable, clean, functional, and lovely.  We regret staying at The Caper Beach Club 3/22-3/29/25.  According to Diana (front desk employee) my family and I are, 'bad customers'. We're bad customers because our 5 & 6 year old boys were playing basketball with a floating toy we brought from home. See picture. Diana told us that the toy violated a pool rule, but suggested our children and their new friends should play with that toy on the small grass area next to the standing water and service street. (By the way, it's gross to walk around standing water to enter/exit the pool area.) Here are the pool rules that are most challenging for families: -No inflatables -No flotations -No ball playing Seriously, at a pool?? What if your kid can't swim? Who wrote and approved these? The same people who collect 20% of all rental income for the building? Yep, those grumpy anti-kid patrol curmudgeons who complain to the front desk. They're unliked by the rest of the property owners, and obviously us renters who selected this location because it seemed like a good place for families. On 3/27 the whole building was displaced due to no electricity and no water. Unbelievable. They hung these notes on our doors. We understand that sometimes unfortunate things can occur. When we asked Diana about compensation, or discounted options for us to have lunch, etc. they told us they were not responsible and would doing anything for renters.  Diana told us we could use the pool during that time- BUT the condo owners we met at the pool told us the pool's electric filtration system will not work and to stay out of the pool. (The same outage situation occurred a just before our arrival.) Thanks to the folks at Pink Shell for giving my family a discounted rate for a day pass. We appreciate the Fort Myers Beach hospitality.  We support Fort Myers Beach. We were excited to visit again after a couple of missed years. Our favorite places are Bay to Beach, Salty Sam's Pirate Cruise, Nervous Nellie's, Junkaroo on the Beach and so many more.  We'll be back to Fort Myers Beach, but will not stay at Caper Beach Club again.

The trip out to the island went off without a hitch unlike friends of ours who had travelled over the day before who did not have a good experience. We spent a lovely day at the beach and at 4 we showed up back at the marina with plenty of time, waiting to board the ferry for our 4:30 departure time. By the ferry, under the only available cover from the scorching Florida summer sun, no seats were available for us to sit. That section was heavily occupied by various workers that were also looking to escape the sun and board the ferry. I found a shaded spot near the office where I was able to stand with my kids to keep them out of the sun and cool while we waited to board the ferry. While we waited I asked two different crew members that were unloading a cargo ferry if/when I was able to board since I wasn't standing directly in front of the ferry itself given the lack of cover, to which they replied "oh you can't board until 4:30." It was 4:29 when I was told that. The last man I asked was walking next to the captain, both have which just came from the bar, drinks in hand, heading toward the ferry. Seeing this I decided it was close and we would be leaving soon. I start to gather my three kids and 4 bags and send my cousin with my 11 month old over to board the ferry first a few minutes later. She comes back and said the boat was gone! It was 4:33! I ran to the dock which was just on the other side of the office where I was standing to see that she was right, the boat had left. I was crushed and in disbelief as I'm sure you could imagine. Being told by multiple crew members I couldn't board then 3 minutes after the departure time I missed the boat was infuriating. I felt like I was set up to fail and no one cared. No one offered to help I was just out of luck. I called the 1-800-576-7343 number to try and speak to someone for help but could not leave a message as the service was not set up. I approached a crew member, Joseph and asked if he could call the ferry back and explained to him that I have been here waiting and asked multiple people to board and was told I had to wait. He responded with "well it's not our job to make sure everyone is on board but I'll see what I can do." I was floored that was his response. It was insult to injury at that point. I thought to myself what was the point of making a reservation if it meant nothing. He made a call to what I assume was a manager and returned to us with "good news is you can enjoy 3 more hours of paradise and get on the next ferry." At this point my children are all flush with heat, noticeably sweating and exhausted from the day. To say to a mom who just missed her only exit off the island, strategically picked to avoid toddler meltdown, to just go off and enjoy the day was an additional blow. I was in shock that not only was the situation being placed on me as it was my fault but that additionally he was doing me a favor by allowing me to get on the next ferry. The fact that multiple people saw me, I was next to the office, I was clearly trying to escape the sun with my kids, one of which has special needs, it just felt like it was "got you" type moment. At no point was there any resemblance of a "wow I'm sorry that was your experience, let me see what we can do." Or even a "it was an oversight that they left without you, our apologies there is another ferry at 7:15." We showed up at 7 for the next ferry with now overly tired toddlers and boarded the ferry. We stood in front of the boats entrance this time to ensure they didn't leave without us. Joseph was on board and even drove the shuttle from the ferry back to the cars parking lot. Overall my experience was really upsetting and felt like an intentional trick. It was my first trip using the ferry service and was looking forward to using it many more times in the future. I cant express how truly disappointing it was.

I was assured by the manager (Monica) that it was. Unfortunately, for our 7 day trip, it was only working for 1 of the 7 days. All other days, it was frigid water, around 68-72 degrees, which made it completely un-swimmable. I spoke to other residents that were near the pool deck and all of them agreed that this was extremely cold and not tolerable. After calling to report this to the manager, she became extremely rude and snippy with me, even asking me, "Well, what did you come to Florida for... the pool or the beach? Did you really think your price for the resort includes a heated pool?" I couldn't believe how rude she was. Ok, let's talk about the resort itself... the check in process was quite frustrating as the manager was all over the place and kept giving me wrong information and didn't let me know how to access the pool gate, elevator, etc... When I went to check in, the room reeked of bleach as if the cleaning staff had doused it in the stuff. It took hours for the smell to dissipate. The rooms are very old and tiny/cramped. The shower frames are coming off the hinges and the master shower water doesn't even permit a hot temperature. The bathrooms are so small and tight that you can hardly fit in there. The room smelled musty as well. The master bed was like an old beat up cushion. It killed my back! The elevator to get up to the room (we were on the 3rd flood) was very old and rickety and took forever to go anywhere... if you tried to take the states, you would risk your health as they were extremely slippery and you had to nearly tip-tow down. When I called after our trip to report these frustrations, the manager continued to be very sarcastic and rude to me and then hung up. Having vacationed down in Ft. Myers Beach for 20 years, I know lots of places and I would never stay here again. Overpriced, doesn't deliver on promised amenities and is very old. Save your money and vacation and stay somewhere else!

Revised review to be more fair…read more I've come to realize a few things about this community. While management has areas that need improvement, the tenants also play a significant role in the condition of the property. Some residents disregard trash policies and contribute to the deterioration of the grounds and common areas. The property could benefit from more frequent cleaning, monthly power washing of the grounds and hallways, and better attention to the ant problems around the buildings and pools. Pool disturbances and fights are also concerning, and additional security or enforcement may be needed. I'll be honest about my own experience, too. I got caught up in other residents' complaints and, because of my personality, often became the voice for those frustrations. Looking back, that added to my own stress. My advice to other residents is to avoid getting swept up in everyone else's grievances and instead address concerns directly and constructively with the office. That said, management has room for improvement. At times, I felt my concerns were dismissed or that I wasn't receiving straightforward answers. Unreturned calls and unanswered emails only make matters worse. Residents deserve honest communication, even when the answer is no or a problem cannot be fixed immediately. Management could also benefit from being more proactive by regularly walking the property, paying attention to what happens outside normal office hours, and taking resident concerns seriously. Simply being present and addressing problems before they escalate would go a long way. Ultimately, this community has problems that won't be solved by blaming management for everything or by ignoring legitimate concerns. Residents need to respect the property and follow the rules, while management needs to communicate honestly, enforce policies consistently, and take action where possible. I'm willing to work constructively with management if there is a genuine willingness to work with residents. We all have a part to play in making this a cleaner, safer, and better place to live.

It was so nice to be able to go into one of the private tents and relax with my snacks and lay down with my baby while she nursed in total privacy! We spent every day just lounging by the pool in our little tent. The homes are nice but the community isn't worth the headache. We will most like sell and move to Corkscrew Shores. Much nicer amenities and not run by a bunch of power hungry over paid staff with a taste for treating adults like children. We have received little to no feed back. We are to sit and wait until the big wigs meet and tell us if we can use the facilities we are paying top dollar for. Very frustrating to say the least. Should anything like this happen again a GL community is not where you want to being living.
