This review is only for its (wedding? banquet?) facilities. A friend had her engagement dinner in the conservatory last night, and it was a wonderful and beautiful venue. I had seen the Royal Park Hotel before but never been in - the lobby is gorgeous as well, and a front desk staffer directed me to the conservatory, which is directly behind it. I've also heard they have a nice restaurant on site, so I'm hoping to come back and experience that, at some point. All of the catered food at the conservatory was tasty, as well - we had appetizers, salad, and I had an herb chicken dish, I believe. Waitstaff was very courteous and when I went up to the bar to get a Diet Coke, they asked how everything was tasting, etc., even though I wasn't the hostess of the party; nice customer service. My engaged friend said that they originally looked at Royal Park as a wedding venue, but unfortunately the conservatory wasn't large enough for their number of guests - I'm glad they had their engagement dinner there, so I got to experience it. There were about 30 guests there last night but the space looked like it could fit more, I would guess 40-50 total, easily, and possibly even more. Based on this experience, I'd love to come back to the hotel either to dine or to stay overnight.

We stayed the weekend at Royal Park and for the most part were very happy. We accidentally upgraded ourselves to a suite which was very nice but odd that in a large suite there is only one king bed, no pull out couch. No biggie though! While a tad outdated (although we noticed rooms are being remodeled!) the room was very well kept. While we were here there were tons of events making it a very busy place. We decided to do valet for the trip because there was no parking to be found. It worked well and the valet staff was as nice and hardworking as the come, but it definitely adds up needing to come and go from the hotel with some frequency. The downfall of the hotel is the onsite restaurant. We went around 9pm on Friday (it was pretty empty at this point) and our first bartender was quite rude, he took our order and then immediately handed us the bill (poor taste). Our drinks came maybe 8 minutes later, and then he left. Eventually the other bartender realized we were still missing an appetizer. After much back and forth we asked to cancel and she kindly offered us a free drink, well then the manager still brought the app out (55 minutes after we ordered it) and charged us for it. We were very shocked by that, just terrible customer service. The woman working behind the bar was the only saving grace that night. We grabbed drinks on Saturday too, and had a similar experience with the single order of fries taking just over 40 minutes, no apologies or accommodations made. Definitely recommend the hotel, but I would make other plans for eating!

Crab dip appetizer, french onion soup, mushroom soup, pork chop with sweet potato mash, scallops and opera cake for dessert. Yum!

Our first trip to the Park Hotel for dinner. What a treat! First, the environment is stunning. Tables are well-placed to ensure an intimate dining experience (around the windows; bar area is livelier). Our family of three enjoyed a leisurely, long dinner and felt free time do so. The hotel itself is so beautiful. We enjoyed taking in the dusk sky and watching the lights in and around the hotel come to life. Our wait staff was patient, kind and attentive. Clearly well trained and looked comfortable with his role. Our food was superb. The crab appetizer was hot, creamy and just the right amount of flavor so as not to overtake the crab. The French onion soup was thick, full of onions and lots of melted cheese. My husband said his mushroom soup was perfect. My scallop entree was gorgeous. It was light, full of flavor and the scallops were soft. My husband enjoyed his pork chop and I tasted his sweet potato mash. The jalapeño peppers and honey added a delicious, savory flavor. My daughter had a Caesar salad with salmon. It looked so fresh and was enough for two meals. Though we were stiffed, we shared the opera cake. I was so surprised at how delicious it was. Chocolaty-smooth, espresso accents and moist with liqueur. The tab was what would be expected from such a wonderful dining experience for three, $185 plus tip. For a special occasion (we were celebrating our daughter's birthday) it was lovely.

What an absolutely amazing night!! My sister threw me a 50th surprise party in one of their suites. We started off with a larger party at Rochester Mills, and then a smaller group of about 30, walked over to the hotel. Originally she booked a suite with a balcony, but apparently a bride and groom stayed an extra night so they didn't have the room available. This hotel has EVERYTHING!! First of all the hotel is gorgeous! Definitely 5 star value! The staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating. The grounds are huge. You can go out and sit by the creek, you can fish, you can get pictures, etc. They have a gazebo for your use as well. But a really cool touch, is the fire pits! You can make a fire and sit out and enjoy it. They have multiple event rooms of various sizes. A wedding here would be amazing. I will say though, that the rooms are excessively pricey. There aren't any other nearby hotels. So keep this in mind if you have an event where you want people to stay the night. The theme of my party was "Pretty in Pink." And everything was pink themed. Even all my guests were required to wear pink in some capacity! All of my guests complied, with the exception of one of my besties, who doesn't own anything that isn't black. Ha. Even the men were in pink! My bestie of 45 years flew in from Virginia to help me celebrate and all of the most important people in my life were there! We woke up in the morning and headed for brunch. I was definitely in need of some "hair of the dog" at that point. Haha. This was a perfect night and I am so grateful to everyone who was involved in making my day special! My birthday month is ending but when your birthday is in June, you get to celebrate all summer. Hah. Cheers to summer adventures!

We made a Sunday brunch reservation for 1pm with 9 people to celebrate my aunts birthday. At 1:45 the waitress informed us that this is "last call" because they close at 2pm. Don't take a 1pm reservation if you stop serving alcohol and food at 2pm especially for a large group. Our food did not come out until 1:45pm. The Bloody Mary was delicious, unfortunately I only had time to order 1. I enjoyed my avocado toast. The rest of the group did not seem to be impressed with their meals. We brought a cake but no one asked if we wanted coffee or tea.

Mini bar but fridge doesn't work and nothing is inside, ice bucket for ice down the hallway and $5 Fiji waters lol

High tea has a limited selection of teas to choose from. I like that Royal Park Hotel has this every weekend.

The suite has a large bedroom and a separate sitting room and a separate private bath. It takes up one whole upper side of the large house. It, like the rest of the inn, was immaculate. We checked in late afternoon and through the beautiful wall-wide windows watched the sun setting over the snow. Gorgeous. Everything about Maple Cove exceeded our expectations. So comfortable and warm. Plenty of hot water for a tub in the morning, window seats in both the sitting area and the bedroom for sunrise and sunset views. Beautifully decorated, but not kitschy or cluttered. They also supplied a mini-fridge, a K-cup coffee maker, plenty of towels, extra blankets and pillows. In the morning Jan made us a gourmet breakfast. I do not exaggerate. An incredible omelet, fruit and yogurt parfait, fresh coffee, grilled sourdough toast, potatoes (perhaps fondant?) and orange juice. Plus homemade cinnamon scones! We loved it and will go back in the summer to use the pool! This may be the nicest B&B I've ever stayed in. Thank you, Jan and Mark!

FOLLOW UP!------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This was there response from manager: Dec 03, 2025 Record ID 615590 Hello Wendy L, Thank you for informing the Red Roof Guest Relations Department of your concerns regarding the Red Roof Inn Detroit-Rochester Hills/Auburn HIlls. You have requested that we conduct all necessary research with those involved and provide you with a resolution. Please accept our sincere apology about the situation that you had at the property about the issues of bugs crawling, fruit flies, sink that is unusable and the molds. I contacted the property, discussed this concern and coordinated the resolution that you wants which is a refund, I spoke to Marian the Manager and she confirmed they will not provide any refund. They come up to that resolution due to the reason that the new Management took over the responsibilities December 02, 2025 and your reservation was dated way back November of 2025. Marian has no record of the agreement between you and the Manager during your checked in. They took over the Hotel last Monday and they have no records of the previous management before they Manage the property. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Red Roof takes pride in providing superior service, and we are disappointed to learn that we have fallen short of our goals in this instance. Feedback like yours helps us take steps to prevent similar problems in the future. We hope you will give us the opportunity to better serve you at Red Roof the next time your travel plans require lodging. Regards, Jayvee Guest Relations Department Red Roof ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY RESPONSE because no credit was offered: Reported to health department, filed a BBB complaint, contacted local law enforcement as the building is unsafe (from door locks to electrical outlets) and drug use was present, sex trafficking too: see the report below. (https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCOURTS-mied-2_23-cv-11422/pdf/USCOURTS-mied-2_23-cv-11422-0.pdf). What a disgrace. I will also contact a hotel agency also. FOLLOW UP: Called Marian @ local hotel (they first tried to lie (Shawn-a worker) and say that she wasn't the manager and disconnected me) ---she wouldn't help me, then she threatened me because I said I was going to file reports on state of the building. Thanks ok. I'll just keep filing reports. THIS HOTEL SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS AND NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN. It is a drug infested, bug infested, unsafe (crime everywhere) establishment. ALSO: Put "Red Roof Rochester Michigan Police" in your search engine, and see the people whom have died there, and were robbed at gunpoint on the property! UPDATE: Got a credit, finally, but they wouldn't put it back on my credit card..Paypal or Zelle, weird and out of the ordinary. Par for the course
