Oh my God. I've never had such a strong opinion about a hotel. Right off the bat, it's pretty…read moredepressing. I'm not from Miami, but Miami lakes is probably not where you want to be hanging out of you're from out of town. The hotel appears as if it was randomly placed, then quickly forgotten. The staff doesn't want to be there, possibly because the customers treat them so badly. If you stay in this hotel, you will be so far removed from any sense of human decency that you won't know if it's possible to ever find it again. I will have to stay in 100 bed and breakfasts run by kind old couples before I can get this taste out of my mouth. To be more specific: the night I showed up, they informed me that I had no room (for a reason they couldn't disclose) and that I would be moved to a somehow more depressing sister hotel, the Shula. After spending one miserable night in a hotel I didn't reserve, I was told by the manager that I couldn't move back into the Indigo because I hadn't checked out of the Shula. If I wanted to move into the Indigo I would have to pay for both rooms for all 3 nights. "There is nothing we can do about it" they kept saying until I completely lost all decency (or rather, stooped to their level) and yelled at the manager over the phone. This immediately solved the problem and I could move into the room I reserved weeks ago without having to also pay for another random room at the Shula. I hate that this hotel drove me to yell at some poor guy just so they would honor the most basic hotel policies. Never stay here. Never support a business that cares this little about it's customers. EDIT: 15 minutes after writing this review, I could not unlock my hotel room door. I tried getting a new key, but the door still did not open. After sitting the hallway for 20 minutes (it's midnight by the way), the front desk told me they need to call an engineer to fix the battery in the door. Luckily a colleague of mine has a room down the hall with an extra bed. Hopefully I will be able to get into me room in the morning and get my bags before my flight home. This is a tragic and hilariously degrading hotel. EDIT #2: 1:43am... Literally an hour after my last update, trying to sleep in my colleagues extra bed (because I am, of course, locked out of my room), a woman starts yelling and banging on the door next to ours. She is screaming at the top of her lungs that her boyfriend has locked her out. At one point we peer out our door to ask if she's okay and she cusses us out, turning toward us looking like she might attack. Since then we have been silent inside our room listening to terrifying noises of screaming, pounding, and physical fighting. There was clearly an assault and now most of the floor is awake trying to calm her down. It sounds like the police have arrived. I truly don't know if I can condemn this hotel for ruining every one of my three nights here. It's almost not it's fault, because even if evil, I don't think it could devise a master plan so horrible and heartless. Nevertheless, this is a review site, and there are other hotels in Miami to stay. Don't risk it. Don't let it slowly break you down the way it has so many people. Find another place and let this hell hole slowly wither out of business.

All your suggestions and help were perfect, and I appreciate it so much. The room looked beautiful, you and your staff, who were so friendly, professional and helpful are AWESOME and AMAZING. All your staff and workers were always smiling and so accommodating and helpful to ensure our evening was a success and it was. The food was delicious and plentiful and everyone was pleased, and you know it's not easy to please teenagers. LOL Your bartender, who always had a smile on his face, made an array of colorful and fruity drinks for the kids, all non-alcoholic of course, which they loved as it made them feel grown up. The DJ called me in advance to choose music and he "rocked it". I heard from the kids, so many times, that they had more fun, the music was way better and the food was tastier at the banquet than at their Prom. What a compliment that is! Personally, I can't wait to plan another party at your facility. Again, I thank you for professionalism, assistance, kindness, and advice. I have showed pictures and told everyone what a success the evening was, and the school will be looking into your facility for events next year.

Like many women's clubs in Florida, the Hollywood Women's Club was founded in 1922 during the Florida Land Boom years. In the 1920's women's clubs were formed to give back to the community. They became a way for women to get out of the house and assert their independence. They allowed women to get involved in politics and launched the women's rights movement. The Hollywood Women's Club predated the founding of the city and in 1924 they joined the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The first club members were the wives of officers in the J.W. Young Organization which was the development company building Hollywood. They met in the first clubhouse that was built on land donated by the founder of Hollywood, Joseph W. Young in 1927. Early club projects included donating hundreds of books to the first public library, holding tag sales to pay for health screenings for children, giving migrating farmers assistance with housing and welfare, getting the Miami Telephone Co. to bring the first telephone line to town, and collecting $12,000 during a war bonds drive. Today the club supports literacy programs, funds a youth scholarship, participates in the Hollywood Historical Society, supports the neighborhood crime watch, and provides financial aid to many state charities through the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The original plans for the clubhouse included an ornate Mediterranean Revival style. After the collapse of the land boom due to the Great Depression and several hurricanes the design was scaled back to a more affordable $25,000 Classical Revival style building in 1927. The building was listed as a a local historical landmark in 1985, and added to the National Register of Historic Place in 1995. Between 2012 and 2014 money was raised by the club and added to a grant to prevent the clubhouse from sinking into the sand. Other cosmetic work was also completed on this charming historical building. In 2022 the Hollywood Women's Club celebrated their 100th anniversary. During this time further electrical improvements and upgrades to the kitchen were made. Today the clubhouse is available to be rented for private events. The 1,200 square foot main event room has hardwood floors and a grand piano and can accommodate 60 people. There is also a catering kitchen. Information on how to rent the clubhouse and join and volunteer with this important civic organization can be found on the club website. If there are any upcoming events you can find that information as well. For instance they hold 2 round bingo nights for $10. The next bingo night is May 30th and they serve inexpensive drinks including alcohol and snacks. For over 100 years the women of Hollywood have been coming together to improve their local community as well as the state of Florida. Women's clubs have a legacy of helping their communities and it's nice to see that this one is still going strong today.

When we initially met with the caterer 7 months before our wedding, we had told them that we estimated 130 guests, but it would probably be less. They told us that wouldn't be an issue and to let them know a month out a final guest count. However, a month out from our wedding, they were trying to charge us for a full 130 when we had told them that our guest count was 105 (including the bride & groom). Our wedding planner was able to convince them to charge us for only 115 people, so we ended up inviting another 4 guests since we were paying for the food. So we had 109 guests and were paying for 115. We couldn't believe it and were completely disappointed to later find out that some of the food ran out, specifically the mahi mahi entree, when we had paid for 6 more people than we ended up having in attendance. Those who did not get to eat mahi were given more of the appetizers to compensate. Per our contract we had understood that we paid for more than the amount of actual guests and we can't understand why a main entree had run out before two full tables had been served. The caterer was not only late to the venue for initial set up, but was also very late to serve the food, after it had been blessed and a thank you speech from the father of the bride, to let our guests eat. This lead to many of our guests questioning both my wife and myself when we would actually have dinner. The food was good, but due to the service, we would not recommend this company for your catering needs ever.

Our guests (around 70) were truly impressed with all of the food, and there was more than enough for everyone. We had cocktail hour with a cheese platter with fruit, and a crudités platter with fresh vegetables. For the main course, we had chicken Marsala, eggplant parmigiana, baked ziti, and for our youngest guests, buttered bow tie noodles. Although, I saw those on most of the adult plates too. We also had a carved turkey breast with cranberry relish, and some really great breads. They also provided the birthday cake which was so moist and delicious that our guests thought it had to have been from a regular bakery. Every step was handled with professionalism and a friendly smile. Even when I thought we were going to have too many people for the room, they figured out how to make it work, and it did.
