There is one, yes one main telephone line into the office, it rings 4 times at the collection office, sadly no octopus' work there so while dealing with customers face to face, its impossible to answer a phone at the same time, so after 4 rings it jumps to another telephone where there is no staff from 11 am as all staff are out breaking their back and walking miles to deliver mail.
Staff are not there to have verbal abuse thrown at them, they treat the customers the same way they are treated.
When mail comes in, it does get delivered! Did you know that companies actually pay postage to TNT and other services, who stores their mail until units are full and then deliver to royal mail, mail centres? works out cheaper for the sender, but results in RM getting bad complaints because customers mail is late.
As for the weather conditions, the snow in 2010 did have royal mail on its knees! have you tried delivering mail in snow thats upto your knees? cant see garden paths, get stuck in vans, just like most employees they do not need to work over their contract hours.
We shall the reviews when RM is privatised and and the cost of a stamp, which just now is the cheapest in europe!, goes through the roof and mail really is snail mail as other companies like to store things in containers! read more
