The place has a homely kitchen feel to it - but a bit shabby. The man who served us could have been more friendlier to us. That would have complimented the warm feeling of the place. That's the main reason I give 3 stars. The food was decent. The sambar is typically srilankan Tamil style. The coconut chutney was fresh but a bit dry - a little bit more water or use of fresh coconut is recommended as I suspect dried coconut were used.

From a food quality perspective it definitely stands out and is a place I would normally be happy to return to. The restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable with plenty of room between tables which makes dining feel relaxed rather than cramped. Service was generally good and the staff was attentive and polite throughout the meal. One downside was that the restaurant felt a bit too warm which made the experience slightly less comfortable especially while eating hot dishes. The bigger issue however was that the server repeatedly had a finger in or directly touching the food while serving. That was uncomfortable to see and definitely not ideal from a hygiene standpoint. That said the food was genuinely so good that I still ate it and enjoyed the meal despite that concern. Overall Ginti has excellent food and a nice space but the serving practices could use improvement to match the quality of the cooking.

Kurz überlegt ob ich anrufen soll, die Familie war schon am Essen. Das Hänchenfleich war aber trocken und schmeckte mir nicht, also den Laden angerufen und den Fehler beanstandet. War ja überhaupt kein Problem von meiner Seite, Fehler passieren halt. Außerdem pflegt man in der Südstadt allgemein einen netten Umgang miteinander, absolut kein Grund zur Aufregung. Und dann aber der Hammer... Mir fiel erstmal die Kinnlade runter. Als ich mich ein bisschen gesammelt hatte und fragte warum sie mich dann überhaupt haben kommen lassen, kam aus dem Off die Stimme vom Juniorchef der irgendwo hinten im Dunkeln saß: "Das richtige Essen ist jetzt auch fertig, aber Sie kriegen es nicht!" Darauf der Kellner - "und wo ist das andere Essen, ha?" Ich dachte ich bin im falschen Film . Als ich dann gehen wollte, meinte der arrogante Juniorchef von hinten noch - "ich kenne Sie, Sie kommen schon länger zu uns und bestellen immer so konfus". The dishes were excellent and the portions were huge. The fish curry was tasty, flavourful and had really good quality fish and prawns in it. The chicken variety plate was also excellent with tender chicken pieces coated with various flavours and cooked in the tandoor. The lamb shank I tried was tangy and tender and the Dal Makhani was my favourite. Proper black dal cooked for hours and creamy and delicious. A great place to have Indian food in Cologne. Neither did the curries (panner tikka masala and sabzi jalfrezi ) tasted well nor did the breads( Butter naan). The breads that were packed for us were completely burnt from the base (wish i could attach the pics here) When I entered the restaurant for placing the order, it was suffocating and stinking inside. The ambience was not at all good. Dear owner of the restaurant, Yea okay your restaurant is called Kamasutra but that doesn't mean you go hanging around pics of naked people all around, even on your menu card; Kamasutra means a lot more. The ingredients were fresh and the staff friendly and charming. The lamb khorma was succulent and the meat melted in our mouths, the sauce delicately spiced. The Khulfi was also the best I've ever had in Germany. I'll definitely be going back. Thanks Indian Masala from the bringing the flavours from Mother India to Cologne.
