It's one of those places you can keep coming back to because you know the food will be good. It's become one of our go to spots. Last time we were here things were absolutely bustling - popular Friday night happy hour spot in Kew it seems, especially with the older crowd. The downside is when full the noise is an absolute din and when standing at the bar we couldn't hear each other. We asked if we could sit at the many empty tables at the 'grill' side of things but were told only if we were eating a meal, which was a bit precious I thought (especially as we were guests of the hotel). The manager confirmed we couldn't sit down, but gave us the tip that in 3 and a half mins it'd clear out, which it did on clockwork as the happy hour prices evaporated and so did the people. Other than that, love sampling some nice craft beer somewhere so local to us, and have to end on a super-positive note because having stayed at the hotel the night before, the manager of the bar let my then wife-to-be and her bridal party take over the place the morning of our wedding for some cool photos (including her pouring her own beer behind the counter, in full wedding dress). That night I was vomiting and diarrhoea due to eating the steak so would also not recommend ordering that either. I've been there for a cocktail party, a 21st and an engagement so they really do cater to all kinds of events. There is a bistro and bar area as well and these are some popular places to hang out. There is a dress code here and you will be turned away if you do not look like the definition of 'smart casual'. Well, if you are underdressed you're more likely to enjoy a night in the car park but if you're overdressed then you'll be fine to get in. The food is pretty decent too with reasonable prices and fresh flavours. I hear the desserts here are amazing although I haven't yet had the pleasure of trying them for myself. The car park is pretty big although for busy nights on the weekend you will be hard pressed to get a spot. I recommend arriving a little early just in case. It is also 100% wheelchair accessible - another plus.

Yeah, since I happened to be down in Belgrave I thought that I'd give this place another shot, and it turned out to be quite worth the trip as well. Not only was the service actually pretty good, but they also have some nice beers on tap as well, something that is certainly going to be standing out where I am concerned. On a hot night they would be everywhere out the front drinking pints and looking too cool for school. Signs proclaimed happy hours! $16 steak night! I wasn't convinced I'd fit in with the hipsters (am I in denial?) but the $16 steak on Tuesday night sure did sound like an appealing way to test the waters. We arrived a little after 6pm and it was pretty dead. There was 4 or 5 others in the bar and not a single soul outside. Was it too early? Was it not sunny enough? Had the hipsters moved on to the new hot spot in town? We ordered steaks ($16 for a 300gm porterhouse with chips and salad) and an extra portion of salad to make us feel better for clogging our arteries with the chips. A pint for him and a glass of Shiraz for me. The steaks themselves were okay. The flavour was good but they were cooked a little over than our requested medium-rare. The chips were super crunchy (twice fried?) and the portion of salad we ordered was, well, a bit strange. The cider dressing it was served with tasted suspiciouly like melted butter and congealed a bit on the raddichio leaves. Maybe it was supposed to do that, who knows? Dinner for two at around $60 is pretty decent if you ask me. For a resonably priced Tuesday night meal in a quieter environment then the Marquis of Lorne isn't a bad option

In fact I believe that this pub is actually more of a brew pub, if my memory serves correctly, namely because they do have an awesome range of beers, and I vaguely remember seeing some vats there as well. It's a good wine list as well. Review: This is a large multi faceted venue on Brighton Rd. It offers a lot of options - pub, bistro, restaurant, bottle shop, burgers, etc. There's heaps going on and it works. I know the immediate area well and this is a great dining option and well worth travelling to. We went for lunch today in the bistro out the back. The area is lovely and light even on a sultry grey day like today just before the heavens opened. u We started with pre lunch drinks. I had a Negroni and my partner an Aperol spritz. Both were excellent. They were well made and up there with the best. We started our meal with the tasting plate. This is a gorgeous offering. Just a beautiful selection of antipasto which we loved. First, you get fantastic plain wood fired pizza topped with rosemary. While this is delicious on its own the plate includes mortadella, prosciutto, two types of salami, caperberries, a selection of small olives, cornichons, aged parmigiana reggio and mozzarella. Every one of these components was absolutely as fresh as a daisy and thrillingly flavoursome. The dish reminded us of similar dishes we'd had in Italy. The one here at the Grosvenor compares excellently. To us it was best practice. It's everything a charcuterie board should be. I had the lamb shoulder for main. This too is a wonderful dish. The lamb is beautiful, moist and succulent. There are excellent greens with this dish as well. The char grilled broccolini is particularly arresting. It's a super dish for sure. The world's most beautiful woman had the pork belly. This was exactly as described. Absolutely delicious and tender. The crackling was nothing short of magnificent. We chose one accompanying side dish. Roasted cauliflower with ancient grains and almonds. This too was great. Both mains and the salad were attractive and a very good size. We were a little taken aback at the high quality of the food at the Grosvenor despite the previous laudatory reviews we'd seen. This is seriously beautiful food they offer here. Excellent produce, superbly cooked and presented with outstanding flavours and textures. They are good sized meals too as mentioned and represent very good value for money. Add a very good wine list - I had a glass of Malbec and my partner a local Pinot Gris - and you've got a terrific place. We couldn't fit dessert in sadly. We'll rectify that on our next visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and would return anytime. Our sincere thanks to the venue for the kind invitation to dine here.

The first time I went to the Bouzy Rouge I knew it was going to be good. It was one of those…read moreoccasions where everyone looked happy: the customers, the staff and the people who were coming out after a drink or meal. A happy environment is key to having a great experience. The Bouzy Rouge didn't let me down. The dining area is sleek and comfortable. Enormous cushioned seats that stick out of the walls and hanging chandeliers give it a sense of luxury but the service is friendly enough to make the setting more about ease and comfort than a rigid dining experience. I'm a sucker for calamari so I usually have that to start, it's chilli salted and comes with aioli and lime. Its fresh and spicy and for only $17 I never bat and eyelid when ordering. I usually share a main, last time my partner and I worked our way through the beef cheek braised in red wine with asparagus and polenta ($30). It's soft and rich, and perfect on a cold night. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to drink at Bouzy Rouge yet as I am usually the driver. But I'm setting aside an occasion where I'll be able to sample the wine menu and let you all know what I think.
