We bought TWO IONIC 5's electric vehicles in May 2025. We contacted several dealerships - Maine, (Rowe), Virginia and Florida. We found our vehicles in Florida (tho I do owe them a review as well). If Maine had the vehicles we would have bought them from Rowe. They did not. We did deal with a salesman at Rowe and he was very helpful and went out of his way to try and accommodate us. Unfortunately it did not work out. On October 30 I encountered a problem when leaving my Dr. office in Portsmouth NH to travel home to Maine. Upon entering my car I had all kinds of flashing warnings about my breaks.(My car has 3400 miles on it). NONE OF MY SAFETY SENSORS WERE WORKING AND I HAD NO IDEA WHETHER OR NOT MY BREAKS WORKED. I called HYUNDI and was told to take it to ROWE (my service destination) once I got back to Maine. She assured me they were open till 5 or 6 pm (I can't remember) - She also told me I could "drive the car" in spite of all the warnings about the breaks. So off I go to Rowe (a 45 mile drive with flashing warnings about my breaks). I have NEVER USED ROWE service nor had I been to the dealership in past - In past, I have used BMW in Westbrook (awesome BMW) and Lexis (again exceeded service expectations in years past). I enter the service area having never been there - (a bit bewildered) I might add as I was not sure while traveling 45 miles whether or not my car with malfunction or cease all together. I walked into the service area where there are 2 women seated one behind the other. I tell the woman that I was told to bring my vehicle right in to the service as the breaks are malfunctioning. I was greeted with "WHO TOLD YOU THAT"' To which I responded I did not know the name. Then I was told "WELL I DON'T KNOW WHO TOLD YOU THAT BECAUSE WE ARE BOOKED OUT TILL NOVEMBER 20TH! There was NO OUNCE OF TAKING CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMER EXHIBITED HERE - AT ALL! She then informed me to go to the OIL AND LUBE DEPARTMENT. Which made NO sense to me but ok and I had to ask her twice to point it out to me as I had never been there before. So I drive up to the OIL and LUBE people and was greeted by another woman - who was at least KIND and had experience dealing with the public in a compassionate manner. She scheduled my apt 3 weeks out. She also tells me the car is ok to drive. I left ROWE HYUNDAI befuddled and VOWING I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. On Friday 10/31 I contacted McFARLAND HYUNDI in North Hampton NH. They could get me in the following Monday. Being told my car was drivable I found the breaks FUNGABLE.... rather sticky. NO SAFETY CAMERAS ZIP NADDA NOTHING. (Did I mention I am a Senior?) So I contact Hyundai's national towing service and they will ONLY TOW ME TO ROWE. UNACCEPTABLE. The charge to tow me to NH was in excess of $500. So let the car sit in ROWE parking lot for 3-4 weeks (RENT A CAR) or drive to NH. I drove to NH... they had to order a part - we are presently waiting for that part and my car would be ready this week. There service area treated me RESPECTFULLY, they accommodated my needs and they even GAVE ME A LOANER CAR FOR THE WEEK. NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAVE NOW TAGGED THAT DEALERSHIP AS MY PREFERRED DEALER. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN ROWE FOR SERVICE, I WILL NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THEM SINCE THEY CANNOT SERVICE THEIR VEHICLES. AND THEY ALSO NEED TO TRAIN THEIR CUSTOMER CARE FOLK (IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT) I have managed and run customer care centers over 30 years - AAA, a start up company, hospitals, banks etc. I have also trained reps for customer care. I have no tolerance for folks sitting on the other side of service desk GIVING ATTITUDE TO CUSTOMERS. My car was purchased for the safety features and quality. My car PRESENTLY has 3400 miles on it! We buy new cars because we value safety & we are seniors. We like electric. BUT I will go back to BMW, Toyota or some other brand that seems to place value on not only selling to their customers but also servicing their customer vehicles. (and oh btw HYUNDAI enough already with the coffee break notifications. . . its DISTRACTING AND MEANINGLESS! My car sat for 2 months while I was in Europe and the first time driving it from South Portland to Arundel I received 7 SEVEN NOTIFICATIONS TO TAKE A COFFEE BREAK) Enough!! read more

Rowe Hyundai - all the safety devises that are not working as well as the ABS - Car Dealers Near Me - Westbrook, Maine

If I could give 0 stars I would! Rowe Hyundai in Westbrook replaced a radiator in my 2022 palisade with 20k ish mile. Rowe picked the car up at my house and returned it to my house. I noticed the car wasn't driving the same and hesi to accelerate, RPM would jump all over then drop. I had to call and leave 4 requests for a follow up. They finally scheduled a pickup booked a couple weeks out for the beginning of August. Tracy called me to inform me that my car needed a transmission replacement covered under warrant. she said the process is long due to the back log and they also couldn't provide me a loaner so I needed to open a claim myself with Hyundai motor who is responsible for reimbursement for a rental. After about 6 weeks and several requests Rowe finally gave a loaner which didn't fit the 5 dependent kids I have! But I was ultimately thankful for not paying for a rental anymore. After a couple weeks I was offered a palisade which is the same vehicle I own! Several weeks later I received a phone call from Rowe stating a incident happened with my car during the transmission replacement, the lift broke and my car fell off! I received a email and photos shortly after the phone call which left me speechless of the amount of visible damages not accounting the unseen damage. I was informed they contacted their insurance company to figure out what the next steps need to be as this isn't a normal situation that happens often. I followed up with my insurance agent the next business day to inform them and we were awaiting next steps as it's clear who was responsible considering I hadn't had my car in my possession for over 3 month. The dealership communicated per my request for an update the following week that they still were awaiting for next steps after sending photos of the car to their insurance compan. it's now full blown holiday season and I figured there was a investigation with the lift so I didn't expect to hear anything right away vs a collision on a road way. during the month of December I left 3 voicemails and sent emails but never heard back on my request for insurance information or a claim number. the way holidays fell in 2025 only left me 2 days out of the week to fully try and get information as most businesses closed Wednesday Thursday and Friday Including my own insurance company. I did officially open a claim under my own insurance because I thought my car was rotting behind Rowe Hyundai and I needed to know what next steps are! is the car totaled? should I be car shopping? I've now missed all the great 2025 end of the year deals so what are next steps???? Well Rowe decided back in November on the day the incident happened that they ultimately were leaving me out of the loop! they moved my car to their own collision center and never had a insurance adjuster look at my car, they took different photos and submitted those to the insurance company and they nev gave the insurance company my information as the paperwork submitted stated ROWE was the own of MY palisade. After finding all of this happened behind my back proved I was being stonewalled purposely so they could hide their damages and collect a check on my car! needless to say the first check they received was November 26, which I emailed them November 21st asking if they heard from their insurance company. I was told no but they sent pictures! I had my car towed to my collision center for a inspection as Rowe informed me the car was complete and they were sorry about lack of communication! stonewalled and lack of communication are completely different! This was an intentional deceitful act targeting me and my property so they could collect an insurance payment! Ultimately the inspection of my car revealed safety concerns and a compromised frame so the car was totaled out by my insurance company. The car also never generated a code indicating a transmission problem! Yet no service was provided on the transmission before the car fell! Although several parts were removed from my car which they were never returned. I requested information from Hyundai Motor America indicating my codes and warranty repairs and they have no information on file as the dealership also stonewalled them. I'd really appreciate the truth on my Rowe took my car in August and held the car hostage saying if I drove then it would void the warranty replacement????? What were you doing with my car for 3 months then after you destroyed it? How come my front seats definitely don't look like mine? I truly think all of this was intentional, hopefully someday I will have the truth. read more

Bought my son a 2018 Hyundai Sonata Sport and what a mistake. I had excellent luck with my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited so when needed I thought nothing of buying another. This 2018 Sonata drinks oil, and I do mean drinks. Rowe Hyundai claims a quart a month is normal. But this car goes through 2 to 3 quarts a month and the engine knocks. You had better check the oil level weekly or you could risk running out of oil in just a month. Rowe wants a video of the engine knock, how safe is that while driving. Rowe claims they are not able to recreate the problem. I guess they don't take cars out for a test drive, maybe that is so they don't actually find a problem. They have a whole list of talking points. There is no help in sight from either Rowe Hyundai or the manufacturer. There is a whole list of Hyundai's with engine problems, knocks, excessive oil consumption and there are no plans for dealers or the manufacturer to fix any of it. You take it into the dealership; it is coming out of your pocket. Stay far away from Hyundai. read more

I am begging you to not do business with these people. After a year of no car, taking the bus, and saving up my money, I was super excited to buy my dream car! My first time ever doing financing, having a car I bought, going through a dealership. I thought I would be great in Rowe's hands! Absolutely not. Rowe sold me a Jeep with two bad axles, bad control arm, and two bad CV shafts. And told me I was wrong when I questioned any of it. I went back three times, knowing something was wrong. They lied to me and gaslit me every time. Test drives on the highway, on the street. You could hear the noise and feel the Death Wobble. "That's normal. It's because you're driving like that." "I'm telling the guys it's because you drive like that." When I had to go back over and over because they literally were ineffective mechanics, they told me I needed to "stop looking for things to be wrong." After 4 months of 4 men at Rowe telling me the Jeep was fine, I was "crazy," I decided to take it to the Jeep dealership to see if I was indeed crazy. I wasn't. They had to give me to entirely new axle shafts and axles. Though Rowe promised me they did. After all the "work" Rowe did, it was all horrible, ineffective, and a lie. Kept my car for 3 weeks though as they "worked on it"! The lying, awful mechanical work, and sheer misogyny of Rowe will make me never go there ever again. Highly recommend Lee Dodge Jeep across the street though! They will be honest with you and not talk down to you constantly. Get your shit together, Rowe. read more

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. I bought a 2021 palisade for $28,000. Two months goes by and I absolutely hate this vehicle. It has veered me off the road 3 times. Thank god I had my hands tightly gripped around the steering wheel. The land assist does not account for when there is no lines on the right side of the road. It legit jerked me into the dirt shoulder. If any snow had been on the road, I would more than likely been injured in an accident. The sales team assured me that they would work with me to get into a different Hyundai. After wasting 2 hours on a 90 degree day, they wanted me to carry over $8,000 to the next loan. When I declined that rediculous offer, they came back with only carrying over $7,000. I abruptly grabbed my keys and told them I would NEVER be back. I was very happy with my experience at Rowe Hyundai in Westbrook, ME. Leif is not your typical salesman who tries to push you into car on your first visit. The majority of our communication was by email until I finally decided on a car. Leif was very knowledgeable and showed me all hte various features the Hyundai Sonata offered. Of course this was a unique model as it was the 2018 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T plus. I looked within 300 miles of Westbrook and could not find one dealership with this specific model, but I was hesitant due to the gray color. After several conversations with Leif, a test drive and then the wheeling and dealing, I decided to hand in my current lease and upgrade to the Sonata's top model. As always they offer to up sell on various services to extend the life of the vehicle cosmetically, but they didn't force it on me. I was able to add 3 years of service onto the sale price and within a few hours I drove off the lot and sped down the highway back home. My overall experience with Westbook and Leif was awesome. Leif is very down to earth and did not pressure me into anything. The only negative thing I would mention about the dealership is the lack of customer parking. They cram their parking lot full of new and used vehicles to the point where you could get lost in a maze. If they organize that better they could get 6 stars haha. read more

Great showroom! No pressure sales. Above and beyond sales practices. We were so pleased with the process. Our Sales Rep Mike R. made us feel like old friends. Elizabeth (the business manager) was a pleasure to work with! Everyone was practicing good safety measures. All Covid precautions in place. Only 8 customers allowed in the showroom and everyone wore masks and kept a safe distance. No one but the customer is allowed in the vehicle, which is sanitized thoroughly. Their service department lies about defects to avoid honoring known warranty issues, in our case the audio system on the 2022 Tucson. After failing multiple times, service wouldn't even do a minor reset much less take care of the real problem with a defective piece of equipment they are well aware of. called in ahead of time before I wanted to get my oil changed. When asked, the person I spoke to told me I did not need an appointment and that they could take me as a walk-in. When I showed up, the service advisor, I spoke to looked at me like I had six heads, and almost sort of chuckled and told me that it wouldn't be today. he had to call someone separate in order to try and schedule an appointment for me and all he had was something two weeks out during late morning when I need to be at work. Every interaction is worse than the one before. To make an incredibly long story short- I purchased a used car that had issues from day 1. Every repair took at least a week as they were "getting parts" with absolutely no communication. Upon a return of the car it started to have what appeared to be transmission issues. Rowe had it for 2 weeks when I called to check in. The person I spoke to informed me it was at Bill Dodge but wasn't really sure if they knew transmission issue or not.This same person constantly forgot to call me back until finally let me know my car was ready and the issue was "normal" but they had fixed running board. After conducting researched via car fax on my own I found out the car had been serviced many times, twice by Rowe with Bill Dodge since they gained ownership for transmission problems, so they are fully aware and the running board wasn't fixed. Full weeks pass and no one calls back. The communication atrocious. Their customer service is a joke. 2 months later I am still dealing with a car that sporadically doesn't function properly and a dealership that won't answer or call back. So many other dealerships and service centers, don't make the mistake of trusting this one. Update- a month ago they started looking for another car to replace mine as the transmission is still a major issue. The customer service is still non existent. Today, the transmission finally become unsafe and started to smell of burning rubber. It is now being towed to Rowe. They provided me with loaner, it's a hybrid. They didn't tell me or give me any idea how it works so that's fun. It's also filthy. Food crumbs, split coffee, someone's sunglasses. They literally give zero "cares". The AG's office is going to help me, thank goodness. Run, don't walk AWAY! read more

I went to Rowe today without Intending to buy a car. Told the guy who was helping me out, Ben, what I was looking for and what my budget was like. He took me around the lot to show me what they have. He was very helpful, answering all my question, super enthusiastic and addressed my concerns. He is a really nice guy who took the time to get to know me as a person. He did not pull any smoke and mirrors and just told me how it is. I bought my first car with my own money and it is perfect for me. Another 5-star experience at Rowe Hyundai in Westbrook. We've had a multitude of problems with my husband's dealership, especially recently (review to come!), so the excellence at Rowe Hyundai stands out even more for me: I used the night-drop slot to drop off my car for a state inspection and oil change on Monday. At 8:15am on Tuesday, they called me on my way to work to tell me everything that needed to be done on the car to pass inspection. They also let me know that in a few months I would need to replace my front brakes, gave me an estimate of cost on some other repairs that I could wait a month or two to complete, and told me they'd call me back when they were finished with the oil change, small inspection repairs, and a safety recall. Not only did they call a few hours later to tell me it was ready, they were great about working with me to pick up the car. When I arrived to get her, she was freshly washed on the outside and the floor was even vacuumed. LOVE IT! The other awesome thing about Rowe is their Owner Advantage program which lets you earn cash rewards and free oil changes. I'm not sure if this is available to everyone or just if you buy your car there, but I have had a good handful of free oil changes over the years! They have finally completed most of their remodeling project, and Hyundai now has its own service center rather than using the Ford side of the dealership. We went looking for a new to us car and the salesperson was knowledgeable but very rude, not willing to work with us, and treated us like we were incapable of understanding anything. Even if they sell good cars it's not where I would like to take my business if that's how I will be treated. But I had a terrible time finding the car I wanted in manual transmission, and this search led me to Rowe Hyundai. I have family in Boston, which made this purchase possible, in case you are skeptical. I dealt with Scott, the internet sales manager at Rowe. The price quote was VERY competitive, and they were up front about any additional fees. Overall, it was a great experience. No tricks, games, or hard selling of additional items. The price I paid was excellent, and I drove the long road trip home a happy customer. I would highly recommend Rowe to anyone who lives even remotely close to Maine. read more

Terrible customer service. They refused to fix an issue that had been formerly under recall and that they supposedly had fixed. It has led to a very expensive repair, but it's a safety issue so it has to be done. We will get it fixed, but not there. They will never get another dime from us. We were planning on getting a new SUV soon but it won't be a Hyundai and it won't be anything from Rowe, ever again. read more

I have owned Fords for about 30 years and have purchased them at Rowe Ford and other dealers. I decided to trade my 2015 Explorer Limited because it was just too big for me at this point in my life. I was going to downsize to the Escape but also wanted to check out the Hyundai for comparison. Zane Sanborn was my sales rep and I couldn't ask for a better experience than I had with Zane. He was so attentive to my needs and wants, let me test drive three or four different vehicles to figure out the right size for my needs, and I never felt rushed at all, even though he spent a few hours with me. It was obvious that he just wanted me to be happy with whichever vehicle I chose. He took the time to explain all the different features and even demonstrate (more than once) how they all work. He has also taken the time to call me a few times since the purchase to be sure I am still happy with my choice. I would highly recommend Zane Sanborn to anyone who is looking for a Hyundai. Nice people working here - Leif was very personable. But I'd recommend a different dealer. At the end of this whole process, I feel like all they cared about was the sale. We found a CPO that checked all the boxes, but due to us being in the middle of a move, we had paperwork to get in order. After jumping through hoops to get them our paperwork, they sure took their time processing it all on their end. Two weeks later we picked up our car. NOT cleaned like they said. Stains on seats. Crumbs everywhere. Filthy air vents. We had also opted to get an anti-rust coating for the undercarriage which gets added to our monthly payment. Even having had the car for two weeks, it was never put on PLUS they forgot to tell us it was something we should schedule. They'll take your money, happily, but are less than helpful. read more

Went in to test a Hyundai and was talked into test driving a far more expensive car. Liked it, but didn't have time to actually get into a transaction. Salesperson asked me to stay "a few more minutes" which turned into over 1 hour. Didn't come near what I could afford, which I told him would happen, didn't want to waste time. While this was going on, my car was idling outside because manager was supposed to look at it for a trade in. Idling for over an hour...not happy. Still wasted a lot of time, almost late for work, over 2 hours wasted. 2nd time negative experience at Rowe...not happy. read more

Horrible experiences (3). I purchased a new Hyundai last Aug and have had it in 3 times for service. The service department is terrible. The people are nice but the quality and attention to detail is not there. Sadly leadership doesn't seem to care as I tried numerous times to talk to the SD Manager and after my initial call he never returned calls. My most recent experience was for a scheduled inspection and mileage service. After waiting an hour I questioned the guys at the counter and apparently my car had been forgotten. Following a lengthy discussion with one of the guys, none of them wore name tags, he comped the service, which was appropriate and appreciated. The service or lack there is is not acceptable. I will never purchase another vehicle from Rowe and will travel to either Saco or Brunswick for future service. read more

Bought a used cad with 59k miles. Lost the transmission at 6months 2 weeks. Only a 6 month warranty. After i replaced the transmission at another dealership for less money and better warranty. All they offered my was a extanded warranty on the vehicle once i replaced the warranty. Poor service and they do not stand behind what they sell. Will never be a customer again read more
