ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOD Get your ducks in a row for a fun workout at Row House. Inside the row room, it feels more like a nightclub than a gym. We're talking colorful lights and party music. I started with the half-hour Express Intervals class, which is perfect if you've never rowed. Maggie was a fantastic instructor who gave me plenty of intel and encouragement while we rowed to bouncy Boy Bands. In the middle of the session, we mixed things up with some weight-lifting. I can't believe I made it through an entire class! It was energizing and invigorating. Plus, I love how this full-body exercise combines cardiovascular fitness and strength training. Surprisingly, you can receive four free sessions a month if Active Renew is included in your Medicare plan. Normally, classes are about $25-30 each, depending on your plan, but your first class is free. Yes, parking can be tricky, but if you pull into the lot at the Hampton Inn next door and tell them you're going to Row House, it's only $1. Row on over! read more

Great! Amazing! Friendly welcoming staff. Great workout. Instructor was both motivating & gave personal instruction. I used to row at RowHouse Ken Caryl (Denver), CO. Same friendly atmosphere as Colorado. Looking forward to regular rowing. read more

The Studio is spotless, the equipment is modern and well-maintained and *regularly sanitized. Public parking is readily available and safe. The combination of guided cardio, strength and stretching has contributed to my transformation; particularly after healing from major surgery. I strongly recommend taking classes with *Julia, *Maya & *Amanda. Can't say enough GREAT things about ROW HOUSE and how it makes me FEEL! read more

I am sad that Row House Santa Monica has closed :( I was going to come back now after a few months away. It was a great workout & caring, fun community! It's Row-house's 3 yr anniversary! Yeaaa. I've taken two signatures classes here, one from abt a yr ago and another today. I absolutely love the Signature workout. Esp, with Brianna she's very thoughtful and her instruction really helps ya get outta yr head and focus on yr movement. It's a cold winters day so I started class with a beanie and fleece jacket, then I had to figure out how to keep rowing and remove both during class. Note to self, start more partially naked and stay that way. Back to class. The rowing really is like an sweaty mediation session. It reminds me of swimming bc you can zen out. And also, row house turns down the lights, love that. And the booty+squats with Brianna are a must too. Also, your first class is complementary! Amazing. I'll be back once the soreness wears off lol. Also, lil water bottles are complementary and parking structures are all abt a block away. It's great full body workout, and a way to escape the beach frost now that it's winter. :) Thanks guys. read more

Can't recommend this place enough! The community here is amazing, and I'm constantly challenging myself. The instructors are incredible: Maggie, Julia, Maya, Jenny, and the whole team are such inspiring coaches, and you can truly see their passion in every class. I always come back because it feels like being part of a team from the moment you walk through the door. The studio is clean, organized, and neat, and I love that we get an email with our stats right after class. The music is always fun, which makes the workout even better! read more

SCAM.... Be aware . I signed up for a month worth of classes to try it out and make sure that I like rowing . Unfortunately I got sick and was no longer able to attend . Later I found out they had automatically enrolled me to monthly membership without my knowledge and have been charging my credit card for the last 5 months without my knowledge. Unfortunately this is another SCAM MEMBERSHIP ENTITY . Please watch your credit card statement to make sure they are not automatically charging you for nothing. Really disappointed and sad that they do this kinda business in my neighborhood. read more

Highs: good equipment, Jenny's classes are fun and energetic. Lows: no showers, unsafe surrounding neighborhood, mixed bag of instructors and teaching methods. If you're used to consistent, high energy classes and a proper locker room, this is going to feel different. read more

Don't take my word for it, sign up for the free intro class to see for yourself what a great workout you will get, with fun music, helpful and motivating instructors, and welcoming atmosphere. But, if you don't like to sweat this place isn't for you! read more

I attended the Sculpt class at 5:45PM as a trial class, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but was pretty surprised in a good way at how clean, welcoming, and well-run the class was. Coach Amanda is an incredible coach, she gave me a quick 1:1 rundown of the machine, proper fit, and went through the proper form with the whole class. I fix my rowing form more quickly in the 2-3min with Amanda than I have with years at various crossfit gyms. The class is also fairly fun, Amanda really helped bring the energy and the class has great music and lighting effects that helps me focus on the workout. At the end of the workout, I was surprised at how much I rowed, especially when I have never rowed for more than 2 minutes at a time, I definitely put on a solid sweat but I wasn't overworked to the point where I was unbearably sore the next day. Great workout and definitely would recommend to all! read more

Have been coming here consistently for years. The trainers are helpful, strong, encouraging and funny! The music in the classes is amazing; they have different themes for various classes so there is truly something for everyone. Brandon is my favorite trainer, bar none! His energy is contagious and he always pushes people to realize their best selves in class. Sarah (the general manager) is always accommodating and lovely to talk to. Definitely recommend! read more

Great location despite the numeroous homeless and encampments outside. Staff and routines are great and trainers are strong but BEWARE of deceptive marketing and aggressive collections. Clicked in app for 21 day trial or something like that and then in app for free month. Never even completed the first thing and they aggressively are coming after me with collections and bill collectors for the second trial that I canceled and never even used. When I was on the phone they didn't care. They just want their money. I would be happy to sign up but not after this aggression. Terrible business tactic as I was looking forward to continuing here until I learned about their predatory ans deceptive marketing and aggressive collections. Sad because the trainers are great. I just don't need the gym collectors calling me 1000x a day in a very aggressive manner. Update: Despite the passive aggressive comment by Adam G. below it absolutely was Rowhouse Santa Monica. Adam knows exactly their collection tactics and their deceptive offers. Shame on you Adam. Rather than fixing the problem you just pretend it was "another studio". Great CS. read more

I've been working out here for a year and a half now and it's by far the gym that I've had the most progress at. I'm a really big fan of Maya's noon intervals workout. They were great at helping me get back at it when I was recovering from abdominal surgery, would highly recommend. read more

Really terrible cancellation policy. Very shortsighted on their part. They would rather torture their customers for one more month of unwanted membership now than have a customer come back on and off for years. They would not work with me at all. Just stuck to their "muh policy" story. They wouldn't even let me downgrade from twice a week to once a week without a full thirty day notice. No wonder so many Row Houses have closed. Time to try iRow fitness instead! read more

Row House Santa Monica is awesome! They have a variety of classes which serve different purposes which can be found on their website. Friendly staff at the front desk, nice and knowledgeable instructors. Row House provides a safe, zero judgment environment to workout, get stronger and achieve your goals. Coach Jenny was great. This mommy-to-be was so energetic and you can tell she loves what she does. During the workout, we got off the rowers for some movements on the floor; reverse lunges while holding a pair of dumbells, hand-release push-ups, situps, etc. The mix of good music and the lighting they use to get you in the mood for pushing yourself further than you thought you could go. Another thing that I notice is that the studio itself is super clean. Two gender-neutral bathrooms but unfortunately no showers. They have no private parking, you can park in the building next to the studio. It cost one dollar, so if you are planning to come every day, you should consider that. A dollar a day is not cheap. There is also some street parking near the meters. read more

What an amazing workout!!! Took my first class this week with instructor Piper. She's certainly high energy while delivering heart pounding superset intervals throughout the 45min program. Honestly, I had never taken a row class, however Piper spent about 15mins just prior to class going over proper form, technical instruction and equipment overview with all the newbies. I was so impressed I signed-up for a monthly subscription shortly after my first class. Looking forward to more fun/intense workouts in the future. read more

Good trainers, shady operations. I hurt my back and asked to cancel my membership. There's a policy that list you need to cancel 30 days or they charge. They 'offer' a 3 month freeze with a doctors note, but wouldn't accept an email from my doctor because it's hard to track on their database. How hard is it to match info than to get a bedridden person to personally go and hand a doctors note. And now are hounding me over a credit card charge on a card that works perfectly fine and wanting to charge more.Row House do better. 30 day policy before cancellation, just say you charge 1st and last month. Read the policies y'all, or they'll just sign you up on their computer without explaining anything other than the price. read more

I feel I was blessed when wandered into Row House, looking for some way to get motivated to exercise. I just happened to take a class led by Piper at Row House Santa Monica. I rowed as a young boy at camp, so I had a concept of how to Row, which helped, but Piper knows how to motivate a class, and she understands music which is an important part of the class. Being a music teacher myself, if someone is off the beat, I know, and it's a problem. I wish Row House, Piper, and all the teachers at Row House much success. read more

Once COVID hit, I had to find a new workout as Orangetheory didn't have outdoor classes. I saw Row House's ad on Instagram in early October 2020 as they were holding outdoor workouts. My first class was with Caitlyn, and I was hooked! She had great music and high energy, which led me to sign up for unlimited membership. I was even lucky enough to attend her Taylor Swift vs Ariana Grande themed row! As tough as working out can be, I'm always excited for my classes. Now, I'm up to 4 days a week, enjoy getting to know the staff, and am getting better each day! I'm so honored to be part of this family! At this point, I'm not sure I'll go back to Orangetheory as Row House covers my needs, shout to Caitlyn for starting it all!! read more

Tried a class here recently and it was great. From the service on the phone a couple days before where someone walked me through the trial process, then arriving and being greeted by the trainer, and then class itself was an incredible workout! I'll definitely be coming back read more

I'm pretty active. Triathlons, boxing, swimming. I've always "admired" the rowing machines in previous gyms, but never really committed to one. To be honest, they're a bit intimidating and exhausting. I recently moved to Santa Monica, was walking around and popped into a Row House to check it out. I met Adam. Super great and friendly. He explained the dynamics of RH and it's benefits. We actually peeked into a class that was taking place. I immediately signed up for the $7 for 7 days. Today will be my 2nd class. It's beyond amazing. Alexa was an incredible instructor guiding myself ( and the class ) through 45 minutes of precise-- and one of the most intense rowing regimens... in conjunction to one of the best shoulder and glute weight workouts I've had in years. And to their credit.. once they showed me how to properly row.. the workout became more efficient and I really felt it the next day. I'm hooked! If you think you've reached peaks or even plateaus in your workout schedule.. I dare you to try this. Row House is simply the best workout. Its team is one of the most informative and approachable staff I've encountered. Swing in, give it a try. You won't regret it.. at any level athlete. Thanks Row House!! Shawn read more

Super awesome and friendly environment. Piper who led the class was amazing. I was greeted right when I walked through the door from the receptionist and I loved the detail to me joining for the first time. Now that we can see into the Covid tunnel, it's time for me to look into a new exercise schedule. The Row House has been mentioned on my NextDoor app. more than once. Last week, during a walk, I decided to make it my destination. I found it next door to the new Hampton Hotel and a few short blocks from Santa Monica Place mall. Rowing class was in session so I wasn't able to see much on that visit but Ryan invited me back for a free class, at 9:30 AM the following Friday. At that hour, it was easy to find parking in the nearby structure at 4th & Broadway. I've been going to Bally's health clubs since 1967. I've attended classes, live, and in person with Richard Simmons and Jane Fonda. I've practiced yoga since the 70s, am a devotee of the "stairs" in the canyon, and walking Palisades Park and the beach in Santa Monica, since the late 80s. Just an old Boomer Broad, looking to keep it new, okay? The Rowhouse fits the bill. I believe it was Jaden who guided me to my welcome sign on Friday and footed me into the equipment ;-) Lights changed. Music pumped and Piper, ex, high school cheerleader, started barking out orders for 45 minutes. She made it fun, but it was all about working against the clock on the wall, at your own, individual speed. Seemed like a smooth and relatively quick 45 minutes that included getting us out of the chair for a few basic yoga stretches. Best of all, it was easy on the joints. Thinking, I would do this again as I packed up my stuff, I noticed there were all kinds of folks there. I wasn't the only senior in the room ready for a challenge either. For those on a schedule, the 6 AM and 12:00 noon class takes 30 minutes. Definitely add to my, to-do-weekly list. I didn't take photos but they have a nice website: https://www.therowhouse.com/location/santa-monica read more

Had an excellent full house row class with Brooke! She was a great instructor and gave me a lot of attention before the class started to be sure I had perfect form. She had excellent energy during class and was a joy to spend 45 minutes with, sure made the workout go by fast! This workout is mostly rowing for the entirety, so bring your energy! I am definitely sore today. Can't wait for my next class! read more

This is not a review of the fitness center, because I haven't even gone, but of their communication. I had to create an account to even look at the schedule and they have not stopped emailing/calling/texting me FOR WEEKS! Even texting & calling from different numbers after I blocked. I was really excited to find a place to row, but I'll be going elsewhere after all this harassment. read more

Row House in Santa Monica is awesome. Amazing Coaches my Favorite is Maya she rocks super motivating, she motivates with validation and it's so fun. Even on the days I do not feel like it I show up and then I get an amazing fun work out. I love that it is rowing plus weights on a matt and also stretching. There are different workouts some are geared towards strength some are restorative etc. You can find your groove with it. Thank you Row House read more

Can't say enough about how good RowHouse Santa Monica is. The vibe and energy is welcome and inspiring and has helped me and many others move towards our goals. Classes are fun, welcoming and accessible. I've seen all types and all ages in the classes and it seems that everyone enjoys it equally. It's not an easy job to curate the level of talent I see in the instructors and this human element makes RowHouse (in my opinion) better and more effective than any other class workout format I've tried! They have generous welcome packages and once you try it out, you will most likely stay! ;) read more

Instructor and managers are amazing. The instructor gave very clear directions on this Monday night full body class. The exercises were varied so that it very got boring or repetitive. The lights and music were vibey and worked great with the pace of the class and the different lifts she had us doing. Also one of the perks is that they hooked up a deal with The Hampton Inn (literally next door) to park your car there during the class for $1.
