I spent $268 at Nursery Rhymes last week and was incredibly disappointed with the customer service…read more After my purchase, I needed to exchange a pair of $34 baby booties for a larger size. The item was unworn, in pristine condition with tags still attached, and I had the original receipt. Despite that, I was told they would not order the correct size and that exchanges weren't possible for a different size. Instead of doing the right thing and issuing a refund, I was only offered store credit--so in addition to having to find the booties somewhere else and paying yet more out of pocket, I was stuck in their store - losing money with a store credit if I chose something under $34 (plus tax) or being forced to spend more if I picked something over. No flexibility, no effort to help. Thankfully, another boutique was able to order and ship the exact same booties in the needed size for just $23.11 (including tax) -- over $11 cheaper than what I paid at Nursery Rhymes. The staff was politely rude and made it clear they didn't care whether they kept my business. A friend of mine who dealt with this store felt the same way --clearly, this isn't a one-off issue. In today's world, where consumers have endless options online, local stores must understand that customer service is everything. If you make it hard to do business with you, people won't--and you will lose customers. Sadly, despite wanting to make future purchases for the new little girl in our family, I won't be returning, and I'd recommend shopping elsewhere if you're looking for quality service and fair policies.

My husband and I just became 1st time grandparents and I have excitedly visited all of the baby…read moreboutiques around the Jackson area. I have visited Nursery Rhymes 2 times. The 1st time I bought several items and a couple of them did not work out, so I returned them in the bag, tags still on, never used with receipt. I remembered the petite lady working there from the first visit because she was very unfriendly. And, she was the same this time. I'm not sure if she's the owner or not. She said that they don't offer refunds, only store credit, and said that I had a credit of $54 and some change. So, I found some things that the baby could use and ended up paying a little more. When I looked at the receipt she had only given me a $50 credit. I guess it's not a huge deal but it was not the way I would treat my customers. Abs, I've worked in customer service for years. Needless to say, I will not return to that store. They apparently don't need my business and they are way overpriced anyway. There are much nicer places like Sweet Dreams in Madison and Little MS Sew & Sew in Flowood.
