It is just a little old desert gas stop. The other reviews aren't fair. So it isn't a Buc-ee's but it has a friendly dog. AC worked, owner was at the register and it was clean. Better than running out of fuel. read more

Don't stop here. BFE- no restroom. Nothing you need. Flippant owner. Even in an emergency you'll be told to go the rest area east. read more

Route 66 Gas - Gas Stations Near Me - Newkirk, New Mexico

owner is rude and thinks he's all that. dirty and dusty inside. take your business elsewhere

DO NOT STOP HERE thinking you can use the bathroom in an emergency situation. We were told no one could use the bathroom including our toddler. That's just sad. While we could hold it, our child could not. Shame on this owner!!! Oh, and if you're buying gas your experience won't be much better based upon the looks of this run down station and poor customer service. Don't even bother stopping. read more

Heading west on I 40 do not stop at route 66 gas station around mile mark 300 not enough clearance on the canopy too small only one pump no restrooms not recomended waste of our time getting off the fwy read more

This was a dump. Not a place we would recommend to stop at for gas or for a bathroom break. The area around the gas station was trashy. Plus, there are no bathrooms available for the weary traveler with children. read more

Two weeks ago, my father, who is 85 and has Alzheimer's, went missing in my mother's car. The couple who runs this gas station saw the Silver Alert and called NM State troopers and kept my father there until i could get there. I was about 3 hours away. They were beyond kind and patient, and I can't thank them enough. So when I read the negative reviews, I'm shocked as I have nothing but gratitude for these people. read more

Our trailer blew a tire and this was the closest place. Dan was great he had 2 tires our size and a rim that fit!!! He was so thorough and nice. He is a one man show. He did it all, even while taking care of his other customers. The price was very reasonable. We were lucky b and out in less than 2 hours. If you need to stop and want a real feel of old Route 66 this is your place. Thank you Dan for everything read more

I'm a military veteran (which is obvious from the decals on both sides of my semitruck) and I'm an owner-operator trucker. I stopped at this business to buy some cold drinks and to use the bathroom since the rest area just before it was closed (much of New Mexico interstate roadways and rest areas are in a pretty bad condition, with rough, damaged roadway for very many miles and rest areas that are either poorly maintained or outright closed). There are several signs at this business that are grossly unwelcoming, prominently stating that bathroom use is not allowed, no parking etc. Inside, the place is small and far from clean, and the person at the counter (whom I presume was the owner) is not at all welcoming or friendly. Despite buying some cold drinks there we were not allowed to use the bathroom, and felt overall unwelcome. I will NEVER stop at this place again. read more

DO NOT STOP HERE! The owner is extremely rude. There are no restrooms (even if you purchase something). Had to have our young son pee on the side of the building. If that's a situation you find yourself in make sure you watch your step. There's dog poop EVERYWHERE! read more

I just happened to stumble across this hidden gas station, while looking aimlessly for gas, off Exit 300. It does not have your typical gas station appearance. It looks like a I am not too sure about this place. Once I saw the little Phillips Gas sign, I decided to stop. It was not a friendly experience, no hello or eye contact. Pretty dry customer service. The two germane shepherds behind the store, in a large kennel, "hello Tabatha, it is great to see you"! #fur baby love... The price of gas is pretty high, even for the area. This is not the stop for a restroom break. It is for customers only and I only saw two outside big blue potties. YUK read more

Everyone in the reviews is saying the owner is rude, they were not wrong. His dog came up to me and i pet him and he yelled at me for petting his cute dog that was loose inside the gas station. read more

This place was getting some bad reviews but I rolled through there maybe three weeks ago and I needed fuel bad and I just took the chance they had new fuel pumps for diesel and gas and the guy at the store was super cool nice very talkative. Gave me some extra pointers information whatever and I'm glad I took the chance. Honestly didn't have a bad Experience price was a little high, but hey, it's just a small business out in the middle of nowhere and when you get traveling out west and stuff there ain't fuel stations every 10 miles you take what you can get!! read more

This is a little old-fashioned gas station along Route 66. The old gas pumps are neat to see, but that is the only sight here. Also, regular gas is the only option and can take a while to pump. The gift shop is small and does not have much to choose from. I think the restrooms were still out of order when I visited a few months ago. The old pumps are a novelty to see, but this is a stop that can be skipped if you do not need to get gas. read more

Great place to get gas but don't expect a place to use the restroom. When I asked they said there were two bathrooms down the road. Said bathrooms ended up being 2 porta potties that needed to be emptied BADLY! read more

HORRIBLE PEOPLE....do not stop there, the people are mean and gas is expensive. Highlight is the chicken that is there.

A very nice man. We were able too get gas! He had Route 66 souvenirs . Had really cute keychains and merchandise . Good prices for a small store. Great store ! Just too get a sweatshirt and Tshirt. was worth the stop! Route 66 soda . Lots snacks! We almost passed it by because of a few reviews. But usually you need to see for yourself! Don't let it detour you! . Kindness matters :)). The owner was very nice to us! read more

We filled up our car here. and wished we hadn't. My daughter asked to use a restroom and the man was very rude to her. In fact, he made her cry! He called her stupid and told her she couldn't follow directions! I was so disappointed and can't help but wonder the purpose of his attitude. I recommend everyone avoid this business at all costs!!! read more

Rudest gas station with no bathroom. Don't stop here. Waste of stopping. There is literally nowhere else to stop. read more

No restrooms . in just a few more miles theres all different gas stations and cinven stores

The pumps were broken and restroom was unavailable. Don't get off interstate unless you only want snacks

The only gas station after many miles and the management was too rude. We asked for restrooms because we stopped for gas and the man gave us attitude telling us they were outdoor somewhere. Their restrooms are porta potties and you're only allowed to use their restrooms if you're a customer. Also, did not give us the Right amount of gas just to be petty. read more

Cute old gas station on Route 66. Gives you a real blast from the past feeling. The owner is such a nice he man and will go out of his way to help you. They have a towing company too and went completely out of there way to help us and help us to find the best town and shop to take our truck to. They wanted to make sure we were completely taken care of and they really cared. Can't find companies or people like them anywhere. read more

If I could put less than one star I would. Broke down a mere 2 miles from them and although they say 24 seven nobody answered the phone. After a couple of hours and finally getting our car taken care of we drove over there to get some gas and they're there were, picking their butts watching TV ignoring the phone. We needed to put some air in our tire and they did not even have the pressure gauge and made us pay for a pressure gauge to put onto their own air hose. This place sucks to the end of the earth it's too bad that there isn't any other place in this middle of nowhere town read more

No restrooms supposedly. We would have gotten gas if they had a restroom for customers. Probably best that we didn't get gas. Total dump. Probably would have been garbage. read more

I saw a review that this place had a restroom so we stopped. However, they do not have a restroom and I thought they were kind of short and rude about saying so. They could've said no. I'm sorry we don't have one, but he just was like nope. The patrons standing in the store was nice enough to tell us. There was another one about a mile down the road. Route 66 Gas - To have a gas station in the middle of nowhere without available restrooms is absolutely ridiculous - Gas Stations Near Me - Newkirk, New Mexico

This place was a BLESSING when I was traveling from Rhode Island to Las Vegas, Nevada! Of the many gas stations we stopped at, This one was welcoming, had a great atmosphere, and friendly people who worked there. We talked with other travelers and even let our dog out for a breather! We also picked up some post cards (Cheap prices!) and other souvenirs! Just an all around great little place to stop if you need fuel.....which we did thankfully, or we never would have even seen such a great little gem of an old gas station!!! The pumps had rotation numbers instead of digital reads! Just a great place!!!! LOVED IT!!!!! read more

Route 66 Gas - Was here in late July of 2011!!!! - Gas Stations Near Me - Newkirk, New Mexico

They sell great homemade burritos!! Looked a little questionable but I'm glad we stopped! Kind people and great service!

First stop in many miles and there's no restroom... My hard rule is if they let you use the restroom, I almost always buy something, and if they don't, I'd rather watch my "low fuel" indicator stay on until I find the next place that does. You just lost my business! read more

Such a cute little gas station Not used to the old school pumps- thought it was awesome! Hubby and I were amused over it And there was a beautiful very sweet German Shepard to accompany me (: No changing table for your baby- but there are porter johns. read more

I should have read the reviews before I stopped here. It is the only stop for MILES, and while they could be thriving from that, instead they have a crappy attitude the moment you walk in and then also refuse you bathroom service. I'm definitely not giving you my money if you can't even be so generous to lend out your restroom. Thank god I had emergency TP in my car!! read more

Literally the first gas station for miles eastbound, and he "doesn't have a bathroom". I know you poop somewhere, sir! Also, don't recommend "the rest stop 1mi down the road" that is closed and barricaded. I almost died of pee poisoning. read more

Wow the proprietor couldn't have been less interested. He and a female companion were glued to the tv and seemed annoyed by us coming inside. They don't have a restroom for use even though it appears there is one next to the building. Don't stop here. Not worth your time. read more

Yes! Mr and Mrs Personality personified here.... Mrs was watching TV sitting in a rolling chair and it appeared to be an effort for her to roll out of my way. Edit: Soooooooo I just looked it up and NM has the restroom access act. You messed up buddy, you denied the wrong person with disabilities. I'm coming for you legally now and I will make sure you go so bankrupt that you never see another dollar ever again in your life. This is by far the shittiest gas station I have ever been to. First off the rest area miles before is closed. Second of all both his bathrooms were "out of order" and there is NOTHING around, literally nothing around. Not only am I female but I have disabilities and really needed a rest room. He has zero compassion, zero care and didn't give a crap when I told him I was going to be able to make it to the next set of restrooms nearly 20 miles away. He's a terrible person and horrible business owner. If you're in the desert, you don't put up signs so you don't have to let people use the bathroom, that's low. I hope your business fails and your gas station goes out of business. By the way I'm looking into suing you for denying me the bathrooms. You just screwed with the wrong person with disabilities. Seriously, give up, sell your business, you have no place working with people. read more

A super friendly place to gas up and recharge your batteries when traveling through enchanting New Mexico. Expect a strong dose of local flavor as it appears to be the only place in town to touch base with the other residents. It also appears to be weather proof, as windstorms wiped out all the electricity in Santa Rosa, but spared Route 66 gas. Oh, and if you ever happen to leave your credit card inside and your gas cap unattached, fear not. The kind owner will gladly send it ahead of you to wherever your travels take you. :) read more

Worst gas station ever! No public bathroom? Really??? And what's worse is its 20 miles to anywhere else with a bathroom and its the last stop before the lake. I would bet money that the traffic to his store is 75% from lake visitors. Lake visitors have probaby paid for his house and cars and raising his kids! This is whars wrong with America! The only reason there is one star is bc the app doesnt have a zero star choice! read more

Well, I should have read the reviews first...AWFUL place to stop. "Mr. Personality" behind the counter is very rude. No bathrooms to use, although there are what looked like 2 port-o-potties right next to building. Stuff for sale looks like it's been setting around for awhile. Asked where the nearest bathroom was and he told me 15 minutes west. Made it 10 min west and stopped in Cuervo and found a bathroom. Plan accordingly if you need gas or bathrooms. read more
