Aside from fudge the store sells souvenirs - t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, etc. I eyed up the Christmas ornaments and decided on a brass Durango and Silverton ornament. We also got some peanut butter and chocolate fudge which was great and some pumpkin walnut fudge that was not so great. The employee checking us out was friendly and we walked just a very short distance to reboard the D&SNG railroad.

I smiled at the lady behind the counter and asked her "Where are these earrings made?". She got upset with the question and said, I don't know. Everything comes from China, what do you expect? I said, I am looking for jewelry and items made by Native Americans, locals, etc. She had a disgusted look on her face as if I was a bother to her, rather than a customer. She pushed some bracelets and earrings towards me and said, well I make these. She turned and ignored me. So I decided to continue to be respectful and said, wow!! You make beautiful jewelry, too bad that's not how you started this conversation, very simple. I decided to walk away and look at everything. They have beautiful blouses, necklace sets, etc. As I walked out I just got such bad looks, wow! I decided I was not going to give them by business, clearly my money wasn't good enough. I thought this through whether I should let this go, but no. People should know and get honest feedback. Also, by saying everything comes from China, it devalues all the trading posts and stores in Silverton, because now do I really trust what they are selling now? I want to believe the other shops have been honest. I hope she's doing better now, and she has better days and treats you a little better.

I kept walking past this souvenir shop, and kept seeing this t-shirt in the window I wanted…read more Because the town has been closing shop at 6pm (because of covid) I said I better go now, or I'm not going to be able to get it. So I ran in, went to the t-shirt section, and luckily they had one left in my size. While the cashier was ringing my purchase up, I took a look around, and thought I have to come back here before we leave to go home tomorrow. They had so many interesting cute souvenir items, and the prices seemed reasonable for a resort town. I was in and out within 5 minutes. But in that five minutes I could see that anything you could possible want that says Durango, or Colorado, or both is in this store. By the time we got back from our excursion the store was closed, and I was disappointed, because we had to leave early in the morning. I didn't have a chance to get anything except my t-shirt. :( I will have to plan a trip for next fall when the leaves are changing. Such a beautiful time to visit Durango. Make sure you bring extra dough though as this town is expensive.
