The day of court he told us again everything to expect and again kept us up to date of how the process was coming along after our court date. I would 100% recommend the Hilla Law Firm.

I hired Merrill to process my divorce. At the inception he promised me an easy smooth divorce and…read moreacted that he knew all the answers. However, I learned later that he is not the best communicator or attorney and he was always influenced by the opposing council! Moreover, he looked very nervous and uncomfortable/ lacked confidence speaking in court. He does not pay attention to the details. He was more interested in sharing my financial information with the opposing council than getting my spouse's financial disclosure. Due to his poor planning and strategies, he had a lot of trouble getting the opposing council to respond to his emails or his phone calls. My spouse changed attorneys twice and he was out lawyered by both. He made several legal mistakes costed me thousands of dollars. The divorce was final three months ago, but I am still going back and forth to court (of course with different attorney) because the divorce judgement has many loose ends he was oblivious to and I am paying dearly for his mistakes. By the way, the divorce was final and I still do not know my ex's financial disclosure. I asked him to request her bank statements two months before the divorce date. He requested them via e-Mail from the opposing council! of course she ignored his request as he was supposed to file his request through the court system. In fact, a couple of weeks before the divorce date, I asked him if he requested them through a motion, he lied and said "yes but we will not get them on time". He never did file a formal request. I am legally divorced but because of the terrible judgment of divorce, I do not feel divorced as my wife is in my house every other day due to the loose ends. Merrill' is merely a paper pusher. He made me feel so desperate, I ended up giving up almost everything in order to get out. After all the mistakes he made he charged me little over $22K. It was totally waste of money. He would run the bill by calling me to change the wording of a document when the changes do not change the substance. One advice "if you see his name RUN AWAY as fast as you can.

After phoning this law firm to have a consultation regarding their Social Security Income overview…read moreand discussing our case, I was met on the call by a VERY RUDE receptionist, Renee who seemed would have rather not taken on any new clients. I told her that I was referred by a friend of friend who had a good experience with them and that I don't have that person's last name. She refused to "start my intake form" without the first + last name of the referrer. I got upset and asked her if her law office was not willing to take on new clients and she replied back with a short and indecipherable one word comment "No". Again, I reiterated, "So without the full name of my referrer, you don't even want to talk to me about my case" and she said frustratingly, "Ugghh I need that track my referral sources". I'm not stupid to know that they DON'T need my referrer's name to start a consultation request, so I insisted she just write me up as "found on google.com" and that's when she got more upset. I asked her to call me back on a different line and she never did. I then phoned the office manager, JoAnn to leave her a message about my horrible first experience with the law firm and she never got back to me either. I'm not going to bother with them anymore. If this is how they want to treat new customers, GOOD LUCK WITH YOU! I want nothing to do with you and will take my prospective business someplace else that will treat me better.
