We first started working with them in 2015 when we did a remodel of our deck and upper back yard. They demo'd the old deck, WOOD slat roofing, old hot tub and enclosure, gray cinder block patio and removed all railroad tie retaining walls in our back yard. They excavated the existing yard to accommodate a much larger lower patio (Sienna colored to match the Red Rocks they placed.) They brought in new red sandstone boulders and stone steps for the new patio and into the side yard. Their expert placement of the large stone steps and side rockwork resulted in a beautiful and inviting attraction. They went to great efforts to prevent damaging the existing front yard throughout the whole construction process. They replanted our gardens and they were beautiful the following Spring. We were so pleased that the following year, we had them clear, level and landscape a previously unused lower terrace behind our existing yard into to low maintenance Zeroscape with new red rock path and red rock steps and other stone formations. They created a granite rock retaining wall with all the rocks on and in the hill. It is gorgeous! They planted desert plants that go with all our metal cactus yard art. They put in a new irrigation system to keep the lower area "hydrated" They put large red rock steppingstones from gate to grass and put medium rocks around our tough shed and it looks so clean, fininished and nice. They also do our fall leaf cleanup and we have trees everywhere! They "de-leaf the gardens as well as the lawn and it looks awesome for Christmas. They send a team out to cut, edge and clean up clippings. Our yard is BEAUTIFUL and Western Sun keeps it looking great year round. We recommend this awesome company to anyone wanting a nice yard. I was an HOA president for a small HOA of 13 homes and dealt with Kimball regularly for over ~2.5…read moreyears. I was brand new to the position and I had come into it with Kimball being put on as the property maintenance company so I didn't really know what to look for until I read our contract after about a year in the position. Upon doing so, Kimball was wasn't fulfilling their contract by: 1) not scheduling our irrigation system at all. I'd usually have to remind them to turn it on even. As a result of this, we had to replace about a third of our native grasses, shrubs, and ground cover. 2) they never checked the health of our irrigation lines. Again, they'd just turn our drip system on for the summer and that was it. The contract said they'd inspect it after every lawn mow, which was 1x weekly. As far as I could tell, that rarely, if ever, happened. 3) at first they were doing a great job of a now removal but by the end our ~2.5 year stint, they'd come out to plow our small private driveway about 2 days after a storm, which the snow would generally be melted by then. One time they even backed into our trash & recycling gate, broke it, and I had to call them about it for them to come clean. Only reason I found out was because one of the neighbors caught them in the act. On top of all the contractual troubles occurring during the first two years, I received the third year contract two months after our previous contract had expired and they tried raising our price by $100/mo. the third year. I talked to the project manager about it and we agreed that we should have a buffer year before raising the price. He sent me contract and I sent it back within the month. About 2-3 months later when I noticed I hadn't received a bill, I reached out to Kimball to find out that they had stopped servicing our property because they "did not receive a signed contract on time." This is all to say that from 2.5 years experience with them, I would avoid Kimball (and their parent company Brightview) at all costs. They did not honor their contract and because of this I constantly had to babysit them to honor their contract with us.

They did xeriscaping in my front yard 2 years ago in the summer, at first I thought it was great…read moreand they had done a really good job. however, by the next spring the yard was covered in weeds. Ken, the owner, has very poor customer service, he would never answered the phone, never officially told me that it would be covered under the warranty until one day I was told they were on their way to the house, of which I was renting and needed to give the renters notice. While they did pound the metal back down, removed the weeds and prayed weed killer, the same issue repeated again this spring. My mother and I spent 16 hours removing the weeds this time, only to find there was at least 1-2 inches of dirt with the red rock, where there should have been 2-3 inches of just rock, thus why the weeds were able to take root and grow. When I contacted Ken this year, it was again via text, and he said they had fulfilled the warranty obligation. But if something continues to happen year after year then it isn't resolved! Watch them, make sure they don't add dirt to your rocks to save themselves money by not having to give you as much rock as you paid for. My rocks were supposed to come washed and polished. You can clearly see in the pictures that wasn't the case for the red rock because that's where the weeds grow, you'll notice they hardly grow in the other rock colors. I will never use them again for my other properties.
