I've been working with Jen Barstow since California Covered appeared and I needed help negotiating its poorly designed, non-user-friendly website. Reporting changes in my income to Covered California actually seems harder than the initial application. Each time I fall into one of many possible holes in the process, Jen is always there to help me out and get the whole mess cleaned up. This happened for me again today. Upon updating my income for Covered California, I was informed I no longer qualified for assistance. My income hadn't increased that much! I sent Jen an email - she was out of the office sick - and the next day (today) I received a friendly and thoughtful email from her explaining how she went on line, saw my update, found my error and fixed it! Well, I wish I could write a glowing review like all these other happy customers. Unfortunately, my experience was not so great. I wrote an email and spoke by phone with Jen on March 6. I have signed up with one of the Affordable Care Act Insurance programs and have not been completely satisfied. After discussing this with Jen, she told me she could help before the March 31st deadline and that I would hear from her the following week. After waiting 10 days, I called her and left a message and also sent an email. I received no response. A few days after that, I sent another email asking her if she was going to be able to help me before the deadline and asking her to let me know either way. I have heard nothing!!! Not even a simple email stating "I can't help you". Nothing, nada, zip, zero. I understand that they have been swamped with the Affordable Care Act deadline but to offer to help and then to be left dangling is not only unprofessional, it's inexcusable. I wish I had the same positive experience all these other Yelpers had but my experience was a disaster. We are now stuck with an insurance we are unhappy with until the next open enrollment period at the end of the year. Ugh! read more
