I can tell you that getting Ross is the best money I ever spent! Don't believe if other people tell you to not bother with a attorney and just use the public defender. Especially after comparing with other fellow DUI-ers, I know I am very fortunate to have gotten a slap on the wrist compared to others. All this would not be possible without Ross- I ended up have my DUI reduced to a wet reckless (which means no dreaded socially awkward breathlyser in the car), and overall a lighter sentence than everyone else. When searching for a lawyer , I called over 30 different law offices to get a feel for what the majority of them said for my case etc. I was hesitant to call attorney Ross Sobel at first, because he was less than the previous lawyers. But I was running out of time, and did not have much funds , so I called him. I am soo thankful that I did. He called me back and was the first lawyer that I talked to that really engaged in my situation, and made me feel like regardless of his numerous clients, he would be there to help ME. He didn't seem to be interested in money, as other lawyers did. He began telling me things I needed to do as a precaution, before I even hired him. Take his advice and do these precautions( AA meetings, pre-enrolling in the program etc). I hired Ross Sobel almost 7 years ago. It was so easy & painless that I don't even remember what he did. All I remember is that I skated on a 0.12 BAC. I totally forgot about the first offense & hired an expensive criminal attorney who showed up at my arraignment and was clueless. I was scared shitless. I was charged with felony DUI because there were two injuries in the second vehicle which I totaled along with my own. I was also charged with felony heroin possession. I was facing a year in jail and over $10,000 in penalties. That's when I remembered Ross. He had been defending dopes like me for almost as long as I have been drinking. He knew the court (Burbank), the presiding judge & the prosecuting attorney. He postponed my case to give me time to get my act together & to provide him with the ammunition he needed to plead my case. I was such a basket-case that it took me two months to kick the tar & alcohol problems. The next time I appeared in court, he waltzed in and spoke with the prosecutor before I stood up before the judge. Since I had been a beer connoisseur for many years, it goes without saying that of course I had police contact multiple times. I always hired lawyers that made outlandish promises and charged me a ton of money, only to have me plead no contest and accept the typical plea bargain that I would have gotten without a lawyer. For one of my arrests many years ago, I happened to come across Ross' letter (ya' know, the hundreds of letters you get the day after your DUI arrest) and it said he would only charge $600 (back then) to handle any DUI case. I gave him a call and I immediately noticed the difference. He was extremely amicable and did not BS me at all. Let me start off by saying its important to read/write reviews because thats why I called Ross and when we spoke the reviews were right, he is one of the best lawyer I hired for my mother's DUI refusal and this is why. Before I met Ross, a year earlier I got my first DUI case and went with a different lawyer. my lawyer talk the talk but was no help AT ALL and didnt know crap and just wanted my money. when i started doing my comm. service and classes, I started telling people my DUI story. they gave me some information that my lawyer didnt tell me before accepting my deal. I have had Ross Sobel help me out a number of times now. He is one of the best Lawyers I have ever met. He is there to listen and help with what your situation is. After being hit by another vehicle and getting into a horrible accident, I was arrested for a Felony DUI because one passenger in my vehicle suffered minor injuries. I had never been in any trouble with the law, so of course I was scared, confused, and just overall freaking out about the whole thing. Wow, where do I begin? Well, first of all, getting in trouble with the law for any reason is probably one of the scariest experiences. I know that I felt confused, overwhelmed, and found myself thinking the worst. However, once a friend referred me to Ross I looked him up online and found myself reading some of these Yelp reviews and was still skeptical but feeling better about my case. I will be honest and say this review is well overdue! I didn't know there was a yelp page for this amazing lawyer! I was lucky to have found Ross or more like he found me, we all know when you get a DUI the mail that follows by lawyers is overwhelming, well out of the many he was the only one that caught my attention and thank goodness I made that call.
