They could be honest and not steal money from people. I did a property clean out and didn't get paid all they owed.

My experience with Sycamore Glen was enjoyable. I started my employment back in 2001. I truly…read moreenjoyed my time with the residents. I learned so much about life and history through meaningful stories.

I waited a full month after my dad moved into Sycamore Glen to give this review. Leading up to move…read morein they were excellent, but you never know until you move in how things will really go. Well, its been just about a week and one month and my dad is VERY happy, as is our whole family. I was a bit worried about how the residence would greet someone new, but my worries were quickly eliminated. Everyone from any staff member I have encountered, along with the tenants. Everyone meets you with a smile and hello. Some were very curious if we were moving in or out on move day, and they were happy to have someone new moving in. My dad loves the meals. The only thing he has to worry about is gaining weight, as he admitted that he was over eating and going a bit overboard during meal time since its all included. The initial "kid in a candy store" feeling has subsided now and he's being a bit more responsible in his meal choices. He's made some friends already, which is an absolute thrill for us as he lived alone in his last apartment building and did not venture out much. With meal time he is forced to go to the dining room 3 times a day. Which is good for him not only for interaction with others but to walk a bit each day. He is excited about Tai Chi, though I don't think he's attended a session yet. I see a lot of activities when I go to visit, like bingo, card games everyday with groups of residence, I observed the bus taking a group on an outing to a casino, and many more activities on the weekly flyer. My dad hasn't attended anything yet but I'm sure he will soon. I am very grateful we found this great atmosphere. It is clean, the room had new carpet and flooring in the kitchen area, and the closet is huge. The space is small but actually perfect for him. No need to grocery shop (at least not much at all, he likes to snack at night) is huge. He has all he needs. Brian was especially helpful getting us in and making sure everything went smooth. I will highly recommend to anyone and hopefully we will be able to move mom at some point in the future (mom and dad have been friends for many years, despite being divorced for the last 25).

Well, this will be a review that I seldom have occasion to write............there is not one aspect…read moreof my experience with The Courtyard that I would say "I think they could do a better job with this!" My dear friend rented a studio apartment here for her end-of-life hospice care. The staff worked very closely with the Enloe Hospice team and provided excellent supportive care for my friend. The office staff is personable and efficient, making the paperwork side of things very easy. Each person who came in our room knew about our situation which tells me the communication between staff is very good. Caregivers were very caring and made a point of making sure all family/friends were comfortable as well as the patient. Meals were easily individualized for her and offered in an attractive manner. We were able to bring many things from her home and make the studio a warm, welcoming place to be. Loved ones were able to be with her any time of the day and night............and we were made to feel welcome, not in the way! My friend paid them the highest compliment by stating she felt very safe there. Anytime she called for help she received an immediate response. She was able to die a peaceful death with friends at her side. Many thanks to the team at the Courtyard for making this happen.

It was wonderful to visit with each other in the courtyard, sit by the fountain with birds bathing & drinking. We thoroughly enjoy our time together! I go to a lot of these types of places and they are all the same, so far, from what I have seen…read more I'm usually at these various living facilities anywhere from 3:00 to 5 hours and will I like how small this one is with two small houses for probably no more than a dozen residents if that in each house, there are zero engagement. I've been there from morning to afternoon and afternoon to evening and there's no engagement with the staff and the residents Beyond giving them food and very very occasionally bouncing a ball with them. There's no activities, art projects, exercise, just nothing at all. They have a TV on and that is literally it the entire day. The TV usually is at a volume that no one can even hear which is bizarre, since I have perfect hearing and all of the residents probably have to use hearing aids or can't hear it all. What they usually have on would be suitable for grade school children. It's just really strange. Living facilities are immensely expensive and no insurance covers it, so if I was ever going to put a family member in a place like this, they better be engaging the residents, interacting with them at least on an hourly basis, and doing more than just meal prep and getting them to and from the bathroom or their bedrooms. The staff are nice, though the majority are far too young. They seem to hire 18 to maybe 22-year-olds on average which is just strange. I guess cuz they can get away with paying them less? Not really sure.

In my opinion it takes a special kind of person to be a caregiver and we were blessed to get to know many of them in that time. I can't thank them enough for the compassionate care they gave to her, my sister and myself in her final days, their deep concern went way beyond expectations.
