No matter how numerous the $2 Miller lite specials, it usually results in obnoxious dance remixes of rock standards being punched into the side of my head. After the show, the conductors responsible for the auditory assault barely look at you when given a compliment. Enter Sharp Dressed Band. In a bar right across the street from the Ronkonkoma train station, I walked into a setting unlike any other. People were singing along to ZZ Top classics, couples were actually dancing, and the air was full of laughter. While I don't consider myself well-versed in the intricacies of classic rock, Sharp Dressed Band had my full attention the second I sat down. I was fully sold when, between the first and second acts the band took a break, and I actually got to talk with the members. Their bassist, Bobby Dee, was especially warm and welcoming, sharing a joke, and told me just how much music meant to him and the other members of the band. Long story short, there are plenty of bands out there that CLAIM to know classic rock, and CLAIM to know what the people want, and most importantly, CLAIM to know ZZ Top.
