Basically it is a bar, so no food here, but a decent selection of beers on tap, including some Belgium beers (but since Lille is just over the border I'm not surprised that there are Belgium beers here). Oh, and the bartender was pretty awesome as well, and she even remembered my order when I returned a little later. I probably should also mentioned that they were playing some pretty awesome classic rock tunes as well. Definitely worth a visit, and a couple of beers as well.

While a lot of folks visiting Bruges stop off at 't Brugs Beertje (as you should), my favorite hole in the wall bar (LITERALLY! a hole in the wall) is this place. Since the door isn't at eye level, it's easy to miss. It's an underground bar that is a little dark, a little dank but all sorts of good. The beer selection is awesome (some really select beers you can't find in the States) and the bartenders are fabulous. The beers here tend to be 10-20% cheaper than 't Brugs Beertje. Grab a seat, order a fantastic Belgian beer and relish in the fact that you're hanging out in one of the coolest bar and city in Belgium.

We snagged a table closer to the water and ordered a Delirium Tremens, a Chimay, a dry sausage, and their cheese spread. The beers, of course, are the best, as they have been this entire trip. The food was subpar. The sausage was hard and quite chewy and while we enjoyed the three different cheeses, the bread seemed like it came out of a bag. Needless to say, service was harried and everything took forever. Still, this was a nice place to sit by the water and watch the people go by. You better love people smoking in your face though. The open mike night is incredible, with a rock solid opening band that then backs up solo musicians. We could easily have stayed until closing, but after a few Belgian beers and jet lag, we reluctantly bid our farewell. The drinks are great here too, plus there is food to be had.

This "dive bar" if you can call it that on a military base, is located on SHAPE, which is just…read moreoutside of Mons in the town of Casteau. Well actually its a sports bar now that they have a bunch of television screens up all over the place to watch many different games. I hadn't seen any games there yet but will be hanging out here a lot for the World Cup. The B3 takes up two large rooms. One has the bar with the televisions and some tables and booths to sit back, kick back and enjoy a beer or three. They also serve some spirits too, so you can avoid beer if you want to. This is also the room where they have the occasional karaoke night, which is often fun and the place gets very crowded. The next room is just as big but has a couple of pool tables, a couple dart boards and also some places to sit and drink. This is a really nice place to hang out and meet up with friends and those that you don't get to see too much in your every day life.
