My older sister had gotten her wedding make-up done by Rose a few years prior to my wedding, so when it came time for my turn, I knew that this one was a no-brainer! (which was MUCH appreciated because there is already so much to plan for a wedding :)) Rose is not only extremely knowledgeable, professional, and talented, but she is extremely passionate about her work, and it really shows! She goes the extra mile for all her clients, and her enthusiasm for her work is really contagious! She was easy to get in contact with, reliable, and did a fantastic job with our make-up for the big day. My bridesmaids were of all ethnicities (Caucasian, Asian, Indian), but she totally made it work for all of us! All I had to do was send her a photo via email, and she came well-prepared to work with all of our different skintypes! One thing I thought was especially great was how Rose strikes a good balance between incorporating your requests (she asks what look you are going for), but also providing guidance from an expert (because sometimes you think that something will look great but then realize that it doesn't necessarily turn out like you had imagined! i.e. I have pretty large eyes to begin with, so I learned during my make-up trial that the dark eye make-up I had initially requested didn't create the best bride look. Rose made some mental adjustments, and my make-up was spot-on for the day-of!) She gives you a small pouch with things to touch up your make-up throughout the day, which I thought was really sweet! But I didn't actually use it at all, because my make-up stayed perfectly put all day (14+ hours, tears and all!). All-in-all, I would highly recommend Rose for all your make-up needs. Rose demonstrates her depth of training and knowledge in microblading. As someone that is new to microblading, she was incredibly patient with my questions and open to my thoughts about what shape/ thickness I wanted for my brows. What stood out for me was that I never felt any pain. She numbed me several times throughout the procedure, including at the end, so I wouldn't be in pain during my drive home. I am 100% happy with the end result and would recommend her to anyone (I already have to multiple ppl). With that being said, I chose to write this review b/c the Yelp world NEEDS to know about this make-up artist! It would be a disservice on my end to not tell you about this GEM! Studio location: Awesome! You can't beat Salon Republic. It's the place to go for everything (make-up, hair, nails, etc) top-of-the-line. Parking is a breeze, with the underground structure and free validation. Experience: When you walk into Rose's studio, you immediate feel calm and at peace, with the simple and clean-cut interior. The window, lighting, and chandelier adds to the aura. Pre Make-up: OMGosh! I was getting star treatment even before Rose began her work. Since I had some make-up on already, she gave me removers for my eyes and a separate cloth for my face. After washing, she also applied skincare (I love it so much! I bought a few products). Make-up: I wasn't planning to attend a high-end function, so asked for a daily make-up look. Rose blended a few pigments/foundation stuff to match my skin tone and even it out. I struggle with eye make-up and so definitely appreciated the way Rose took the time to share some tips and insights. I couldn't believe how much bigger and deep/depth she made my eyes look (and so naturally!) She took careful attention to every aspect, but also worked so quickly and efficiently. Rose did my makeup for my wedding at the end of last year and she is simply amazing! I normally don't wear much makeup so at first, I was a little wary about getting my makeup done, but Rose did an amazing job making my face look natural and not overdone - while making my skin look flawless. But beyond that, Rose def. deserves 5 stars b/c I don't know how she did it, but my makeup lasted all day and all night. I think the clutch moment was during our speeches to our parents, I started crying (more like straight up bawling) and as I walked out of the ceremony, I was very worried that I had washed all my makeup away and that my mascara would prob. be weeping down my face. I was so glad that I went to Rose to get my make-up done for engagement shooting. She was so friendly and kind to me. I had to make a last minute appointment because the other place I wanted to get my make-up went out of business. She was able to squeeze me in her schedule. I had the pleasure of having Rose do my makeup for my engagement session, trial run, and wedding day! Acquaintances and friends had raved about how good she was, but I'm glad I had a chance to experience her magic touch myself. Firstly, my experience working with her: I appreciated her professionalism and willingness to both ask and receive questions in a way that I felt at ease. I'm not someone who always "knows" exactly what I want, and had not had my makeup done professionally before. It could have been intimidating, but instead, she asked me questions to help us both keep a handle on expectations. For example, when doing my trial, she gave me examples of how she could do my lashes, and I was able to let her know after the trial how I'd prefer them. For the engagement day, she had to switch our time the day before but we were able to find a time that worked for both of us and she helped me connect with someone who did my hair for a better price than I was initially thinking. Day of the wedding, she came a little early and had her spread ready with plenty of time to spare. Overall she was very professional and attentive. Secondly, makeup: She did a more natural look for engagement, and then more of a noticeable look for wedding and trial. She didn't change my look too drastically, and instead enhanced it-- it was nice feeling confident that I was looking like a better version of myself, and not someone else! Face: I have oily/combination skin and the way she prepped and did my face really helped-- I had a July wedding and was afraid of melting but only had to blot once both for the engagement session and the wedding day, which is amazing! Lips: The color looked great in the photos from what I can tell, and I just applied more lip gloss throughout the day/night of the wedding. Unfortunately, soon after she applied my lips there seemed to be some drying/flaking which I had to take care of~ not sure how that could have been prevented but it was a little inconvenience. Eyes: I have small folds (not quite monolid) and I was happy with how she did my eyeshadow/eyeliner. LASHES: Rose did a fantastic job- during the engagement shoot I literally could not even feel them. For the trial, she applied strip lashes, and after I provided feedback, we decided to go with the piece lashes so they would be more comfortable for me. That was great because I knew I was likely going to be crying at points of the wedding day, and having uncomfortable lashes would have added stress. She also did both mothers' makeup the day of the wedding, and did it in a way that was their style without being over the top-- they were both quite happy with the outcome. So I am updating my review on Rose Park. I had Rose do my makeup for couple of years now and she has only gotten better. She not only has gained a ton of experience with doing makeup for shoots, fashion catalogues, weddings, baby showers (you name it), but she is professional and has a sense for the right kind of shade and color tone/palette for each individual. She also (my opinion) is the best at eyebrows. I hate it when some makeup artists makes the eyebrows super dark and the focus of your face is your brows. Rose is fantastic at making the focus of your face on your eyes and not your brows. Of course, let me clarify, if brows are what you want the focus to be on, Rose can accommodate to that, but personally for me, I don't like brows looking fake. If make up is important to you, book Rose NOWW! I had 2 "wedding ceremony + receptions", 1 "reception only", and 2 "engagement shots" (don't ask why) and got professional makeup for all of them. I was first scared by the price for bridal makeup, but after some research and having my make up done at more affordable places, there was a big difference in QUALITY. The cheaper salons that charge about a $100-$150 for bridal makeup do minimal primer/face prep and put on only 1-2 layers of foundation and makeup so that all your makeup is gone after about 4-5 hours. Pay a little more and you get the ROSE EFFECT. She gently preps and primes your face so it soaks up the make up without looking cakey. Then she smooths on thin layers and layers of foundation mixing your exact color on the spot. I have combination skin and my face felt so moist and comfortable. I also have monolids and Rose made them pop so don't worry my monolid sistas, she got ya! I can be very picky but I was very happy with my makeup. The cherry on top is that Rose is so nice and personable. I felt so comfy with her and shes really chill, which is important for a stressed out bride! Rose also works with a hair person at IF salon in Fullerton and they did my wedding hair BEAUTIFULLY!
