Very interesting infomation board regarding what to hunt and when. You can access the river from this trail - foot access. Climb down some rocks to the sandy shore. Very pretty and peaceful but you lose all that peaceful stuff when you see the tracks I photographed in the mud by the shoreline. Check them out. Are they dog prints or something else?

Before giving the rave, I do want qualify my statement by saying this is only the second outdoor…read morerange I have ever visited. The first was the Adelphi Manor archery range in Maryland. Also, I would be considered a novice archer by most standards, though having spend 20+ in uniform, I have seen a few rifle ranges... Now with that said - wow! It costs $3 for two hours but there were proper targets posted so there was nothing else to buy. The most valuable thing for me was that the targets were staggered at 10 yard intervals. 10 yards all the way up to 60 yards. There were two other guys (only one shooting) while I was there and they were on one end so I could stagger my shooting first at the 20, then 30 and so forth. I made it all the way to 50 and stopped while the arrows were all accounted for. Something else I have never seen before, behind the firing line were racks to hang the bows. When you go down the range the bow can stay hanging (opposed to being left on the ground. Not far away, the PX and commissary were also superb so I expect to be back soon.

However, I was told I could could come back this year and hunt and not be charge a trophy fee.. When I reached out I was told to speak with Jeremy Engh.. I had to reach out multiple time and he said he would get back to me which never happened. I even shared the text message from last season saying I could come back and hunt without a trophy fee...Extremely frustrating, and dishonest way to run a hunt club!

All sites have water and electric and are nicely spaced apart. A dump station is within easy access on the property. Very quiet and peaceful. The host, Levi, is just one of those outstanding individuals who is always upbeat and wants to make sure you are enjoying your stay. Prices are comparable to a KOA without the "pack em in" feeling and the crowds. Plenty of places on the property to explore as well as the nearby George Washington National Forest. We found out about this place from a work friend and will be coming here regularly. Note that fishing the trout stocked creek does cost extra as Levi has day guests fishing it as well and needs to keep fishing pressure low. He also provides guided and semi-guided hunts during the season.
