I won't bury the lede - her holistic approach (not just acupuncture) allowed me to get pregnant after a single month of weekly treatment after a few months of trying on our own, at age 39 (!). From our first appointment, I felt that I was in good, capable hands. She has a really well thought out intake process that's much more detailed than what you'd get with other acupuncturists and even functional medicine providers, and she actually acts on the information in the intake form. I have some background in science, nutrition and healthcare and was very impressed with her wealth of knowledge - not just in terms of classical Chinese medicine, but also the most recent integrative Western medicine research to address any concerns and quality of life issues thoughtfully, safely, and effectively. Her intake was very calming and consisted of a back and forth about treatment goals, where in addition to easy to follow advice, she'd recommend additional resources like podcasts or reading if I expressed interest, and she event offered me a device to use for free because she had one at the office. This was followed by a soothing acupuncture session in a darkened, calm room and wave sounds. She has those red lights for your feet or body to make you feel extra cozy during the time the needles are working (which, by the way, are extremely thin and not to be feared - it's a small prick and that's it). Subsequent appointments were also very enjoyable - I felt like I was going to a combination of a spa and true medical guru. Jeannie answered my questions thoroughly and if I had any new concerns come up would readily suggest lifestyle, dietary, or supplement interventions to help, which were effective a number of times, in addition to placing needles at points meant to support whatever was happening. She also has a number of helpful handouts on all sorts of topics. When I first arrived to see her, my nerves were frayed and I was sleeping poorly, and within a few appointments the acupuncture shifted me to a space of more calm and better sleep (it's not my first time with acupuncture, so I knew it'd be helpful for this)... and then I got pregnant! On a personal level, I think Jeannie's warmth and passion for helping, as well as her considerable knowledge base, was a big part of the treatment success. She is truly a gem and has a great sense of humor when you need it, and is very subtle and nurturing - the perfect clinician. She even followed up with me after I sadly had to move far away to make sure that I was getting good care from others. Truly, this was one of the best medical experiences I've had to date (and that's not even counting the incredibly quick pregnancy!); we are so lucky that she still makes the trek to SF for seeing patients. As an aside, the SF AcuGroup office is very easy to get to via public transport, and is always clean and calm. I enjoy seeing all the holistic and Chinese Medicine books on their shelves and the overall pleasant atmosphere.

If you are considering acupuncture or zone therapy as a modality to address your needs, or even if you are just in search of healing, somehow, some way, you should make an appointment with Traci and you'll find the answer to that question. Please read what John S. has to say for a catalog of specifics, but what I'll add is that Traci is laser-focused on treating the whole person. That may sound like a contradiction, but Traci consistently goes beyond dealing with specific, narrow conditions (I came to her with post-chemo neuropathy in my hands and feet which we have effectively erased) and insures that every aspect of your health moves in the direction of well-being. I have never felt as healthy, overall, as I do now after seeing Traci for the last seven months. It was a rough nine days before I was finally negative, and even then the symptoms stubbornly persisted. Nancy's knowledge and expertise were evident from the start. She placed needles in my legs and feet, which at first confused me--I didn't understand how that could help my sinuses--but I felt the effects immediately. I could breathe so much better! She also placed needles in my head, which alleviated about 60% of the pressure right away. By the next day, the improvement was up to 80%, and now, three days later, I have zero headache and no sinus issues at all. I am beyond grateful to Nancy for her care and skill. Although my insurance doesn't cover acupuncture, the rates are incredibly reasonable--comparable to what you'd pay for a massage at any spa. I got to the point where it hurt to hold a fork. It literally hurt to feed myself and it was impossible to do any tasks. Previously, I had months of physical therapy and even after doing muscle strengthening exercises (religiously!), not much had changed. I happened to chose Traci out of a limited worker's comp list and I am SO grateful for it. She is truly an amazing human being with so much knowledge. Traci is someone who is passionate about what she does and she actually CARES about her patients. I continue to see her even after my comp case closed for maintenance. I was wrong. Within 4 treatments, I was virtually pain free. I still had/have problem areas that we're working on, but I went from skeptical to believing that a long-term pain-free existence could be in my future. My only regret is not finding Dr. Schwerte and trying acupuncture years ago. If you have chronic pain, I cannot recommend him highly enough!

I came to Dr.Zhao recently due to headaches, pain radiating upward towards the back of my head,…read moredizziness and pain on my shoulders and neck. I was able to call and book a same day appointment. Dr. Zhao is a retired doctor who works 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays) because of his passion for healing and fixing people's health problems. I was in tears because I was in so much pain and so dizzy. He calmed me down and told me he would fix me up! He used a combination of acupuncture, cupping and body/spine manipulation. He recommended a pillow and some pills for me to take home. Dr. Zhao is not cheap, the appt with everything costs $400! ($250 for each session plus initial first time $50 fee) I was still not better so I came back in two days. He poked me with needles and moved my neck around. I do feel better after I have seen him but I think my problem is too far gone with my neck. It's years of posture, sleeping wrong, stress, anxieties that have built up these muscle and neck tightness that is so hard to get rid of. It's been 2 weeks since I saw Dr.Zhao and I'm still not 100%. However, he did a lot to help me, he is a kind and patient man and ever since I saw him, I can breathe soooo much better and deeper. I felt like I couldn't breathe very well before I came to see him. I like him so I also took my husband to see him. He's been having right shoulder/back pains for years now, who knows where it comes from. Could've been the car accidents or work out wrong. After 1 session with Dr. Zhao, my husband is feeling a whole lot better. He still feels the area is a little off but his pain is completely gone and it's been a whole week so far. He was in so much pain! I highly recommend Dr.Zhao for all your ailments. There is no quick fix to any health problem. You need a combination of meds (possibly), lifestyle changes, exercise/stretches, stress reduction etc. Dr. Zhao can propel you there but you have to do the rest yourself too. For example, I'm doing more neck exercises now which I have never done before and I work on the computer 8 hours a day. I have changed my pillow to an ergonomic one. I'm being more MINDFUL in general of my neck and how it responds to my anxieties and stress (it gets tighter). Dr.Zhao sure is expensive but he is a healer and a good one.

Because the muscles in my back have adjusted, I have to go multiple times. And also because this place is located in SF, I had to try other chiropractors, due to the distance. I have tried 3 other chiropractors from berkley to fremont. All did the same thing-crack your neck, back and hips. The same exact way. While I did feel a little better, I could've cracked it myself. I finally gave in because those people couldn't do it and weren't listening to me, so I went back here today. Zhao knows what he's doing. You tell him and he will fix it for you. Other chiro will try to get you on a subscription plan to come 3x a week, blah blah blah (especially the ones who partner up with kaiser). You only need to come to Zhao once or twice and you are good. They do charge a a little more than other places, but it might be worth it for you. They only open Tuesday, Thursday and Sat as of now, but yoi can call and they will answer even on their off days. Call early, because they were booked for the whole day the last time I called. Also, check the area first before you come here because parking is a hassle. I really miss this place.
