This place is absolutely amazing. The location is beautiful,…read moreright on the river, especially on a beautiful summer's day watching the ships go by. The ambience in the pub itself is unique, very quirky, a great hit with my husband who is a big Star Wars fan! The food is good, sizeable pub grub, with a menu extensive enough to appease any fussy eaters or big appetites. Anything from fresh pies, steak, fish and chips, burgers you name it, they've probably got it. But the BIGGEST compliment to this place has to go towards the staff who made the entire experience brilliant they were funny, interested in where we'd come from and why we were there, made recommendations based on the menu and even changed the cheese on my husband's steak as he wasn't a fan of Stilton the waitor said he'd seen some Jalapeno cheddar in the kitchen if my husband would prefer that, and it went down a storm. What fabulous service. We didn't feel rushed, even though we left it an hour between mains and desserts and it was a packed Sunday lunchtime they let us take our time and the desserts were delicious. Only slight criticism is that, for how big the main meals were, I was extremely disappointed with the size of my dessert three mouthfuls and it was gone. Not worth 5/6 quid really. Would definitely come here again, what a hidden gem.

This pub has been transformed from a fairly freary tired looking pub in to a nice bright fish…read morerestaurant and wine bar. The fish is fresh and cooked nicely. It generally gets busy over the summer when you can sit out the front and watch the boats going up and down the river Medway.

I've no idea why this place is currently rated as 1 star. The previous review from 5 years ago…read moreseems very generic with no details about the actual place at all. Very suspicious activity if you ask me. Anyway, this place isn't 1 star at all, more like 4 or 5, but I've given it 5 in order to balance out the ridiculous previous rating. We couldn't book a table in the restaurant area as it was fully booked but were informed that if we arrived close to opening that we would get a table. We got there bang on 12 and were lucky that we did as by half past the place was packed out, a reassuring sign. We shared starters between couples, all were very good and all under £5 - squid salad, baked camembert and nachos. All 6 of us had a beef roast which is well priced at £9.95 and comes with all of the trimmings, all cooked expertly. We had coffees and desserts and a few rounds of beers/soft drinks and the bill came to £23 a head which is great value. Above and beyond the quality of the food and the price though is the attentive and polite service. Outstanding. We retired into the pool room after the meal for a few games - they have a pool table, darts, quiz machines. The garden is also very nice. Top draw country pub.

Varied choice of food on menu - however, only 30% of it is actually on offer at any one time…read more Management seemingly non-existent so any complaints fall on deaf ears. Don't even bother - WOULD NOT RETURN OR RECOMMEND.
