Upon first visiting the pub, I noticed an instantly friendly family atmosphere. The decor is all modern, with a lovely calming fish tank in the wall & local pictures such as the Donington Race Track. The pub has a restuarant attached to it, which I am yet to try. It looked very busy, with people waiting for a table which is always a good sign. The food smelt good as well! The drinks were at the going rate for the area, however I think it has a lot more to give than other local competition with wooden decking (along with spotlights) on the front which would be great to sit around in the summer.

It's a bit odd walking in here, because it's had a slightly northern Engliand gastro-makeover, but isn't becoming of a country pub in the middle of nowhere; but when you get past this, the staff are charming, and the food is surprisingly good. A quaint English Pub backing up along the River of Tyne. This original Pub has stood since 1800, and has kept its rural charm and rustic character. I tried all of their local Ales, and all equally tasty. The food, while plain and simple, is just what is needed to satisfy the hunger brought on from the brisk fresh air of the country side. I've met people here who give up walking distance to their local to drive here and have a good time. That says something. My first night here I made friends, and each time I've been here since I find myself in good company either with neighbors we've met before, or people who know we're new to the area and want to welcome us. I can't begin to tell you how often a quick pint before dinner turns into a long session at King's Arms. I wouldn't have it any other way. These guys truly embrace the concept of being the center of village activity. No TVs, no WiFi, these things distract from the community. You come here to interact with your friends and neighbors, enjoy a good beer, and enjoy living in the company of others. They regularly have events to bring the village out. The most impressive of which was the dinner they hosted on the night of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. They served the exact 10-course menu served in first class that evening, and requested everyone bust out their tuxedos and dresses to mark the occasion in grand fashion. It was a remarkable evening. One disappointment, since I have to list one to feel as though I am being fair, is the wine list. We love the temperanillo, but really none of the others. But we're not here to drink wine, we're here to be social! It makes me a little sad that we don't have this type of drinking culture in the US. If you're not an alcoholic, you're not likely be on a first-name basis with the bartenders at a local watering hole. It truly is a real village pub with great beer, good food and a friendly welcome. The landlady was very polite and we felt at ease when asking for food. Only had a sandwich but that was plentiful and tasty. Will definitely go back there when in the area and due to it's location if I can blag a ticket to the festival next year, will reside there for liquid refreshment. Nice area out front to sit when sunny ( as it was when we were there). Not sure what could be improved, but maybe they could consider letting the odd room for B&B.

Said I wanted a pint of a lightish bitter, he served me Harvest Pale (3.8%abv), it was excellent, good taste for such a light bitter, though when I had sat down I spotted an Adnams pump, and old favourite of mine, indeed I have just driven from East Suffolk where its brewed in Southwold. Their light bitter is 3.7%abv. Nice menu of pub food, then he pointed out special today was Liver and bacon. The large portion came with excellent mash, loads of gravy, peas and onions and was absolutely delicious. The jovial Landlord was good for a bit of a natter, and despite there not being too many people in , there was a nice atmosphere, one of the reasons I used to patronise it in my youth, and it only cost me £8.75 What a lovely experience to go back there
