Arrived and waited 20 minutes for a menu and drink which we had to ask for, not all cutlery on table when we got there, then get told that they had a table of 30 in and were rushed to order so our food would go in before that table, served by many different people then had to wait for our drinks again, we put in our order and waited to then be told they had run out of pâté, food was ok but not a la carte as e mail confirmation of booking had suggested, substandard in many ways very reminiscent of chain pub food, chips were frozen and the peas looked like they had been sat for too long on the pass waiting to come out and were drying out, vintage hunters chicken was the same as every pub that serves a butterfly chicken breast with BBQ sauce and cheese on, constantly being told by the many servers that they were really busy but they had a table of 30 in, unfortunately that was not our problem, when asked if we wanted any sauces two of our group asked for Mayo and whole grain mustard, back comes the server and puts down a 2 foot long wooden tray with every sauce imaginable maybe something was going to turn the evening around........ Within around 6 minutes two different servers walk up and hands reach across taking pots of sauces from the tray, no explanation and taking ones that we are using, on second time of this happening and us all being disgruntled at this behaviour one of the party enquires about this to be told that this tray of sauces is the only one they have for the whole restaurant! I felt sorry for some of the servers as they bore the brunt of our annoyance, we still had to ask for the cutlery when we got our meals and then for spoons with dessert, I made the mistake of reading only the website and not the reviews, it is not what it says on the tin and for anyone wanting to go and celebrate as we had been I would not suggest you go! read more
