Confusing price scheme and wrinkled clothes that will never wash out…read more Very confusing pricing scheme and scheme is the operative word. They have different colored tags with prices on it. The front has handouts that indicate how much off that color is. Usually it's around 60% or more. So, you can get a tee shirt that's marked $3 or whatever for a good price, if you're willing to look it over for stains, tears, etc. But, this last time, they pulled a quickie. All but a couple of the tags were FULL PRICE. This means what you bought last week now will cost you a lot more. I did buy a few things and spent $48 bucks. The woman told me that the receipt is in the bag. That was a lie. ALWAYS GET THE RECEIPT IN YOUR HAND OR MAKE SURE IT'S PUT IN THE BAG. Without the receipt you don't know what you spent on what or even if you can return anything. The clothes. If you need work clothes, this might be the place to get them if you watch their sneaky price tactics. If you think you're getting something that's $1.99 but it's $12.99, tell them they can keep it. Most of the clothes are new, although some are obviously used, like the jeans. If you buy something that's wrinkled there, it's been my experience now with these things is that the wrinkles will not wash out. Also, be on the lookout for torn zippers, mouse chewed holes, rips, glue, bleach stains and wrong sizes marked on the label. Going back for a few times, no one's going to buy those old nasty suit jackets that's been hanging in there and look like something rejected from Goodwill.

Debra is incredibly friendly and welcoming! On my visit, I only found a few little treasures I couldn't leave without, but they are still in the early days and adding new vendors. Of course prices and items varied by stall, but the quality was great overall (so much neat stuff!) and prices seemed fair, especially on home furnishings. I will definitely add Tartan Traders to my rotation for secondhand shopping trips!

They have a lot of women's business clothing in good condition from the 70s-90s which makes excellent "raw material" for those who may like to put their own twist on things. Lots of blouses, dresses, skirts and jackets that can be updated and made to fit into present day fashions. Also a LOT of men's nice shirts especially in sizes L/XL and XXL. Think "dad" shirts like denim and corduroy and flannel, but all clean and in good condition. Low prices. The guy running this place is very friendly and personable, and seems open to haggling and making special deals. We bought some clothing and he gave us several old magazines for free (we were gonna buy them anyway). He said that due to the Route 66 location they have shoppers come in from all over the world. Their shoes and bags were not in the best shape, but again this place is cheap! It's located in the South part of Joplin Missouri and is in a pretty nondescript shopping plaza across the street from a Thai restaurant and they sell lots of discounted goods and they hardly ever have anyone in here so it makes for a really great discount store and I'm honestly not sure how they stay in business with these prices on so many products and often being so quiet (at least the few times I've been by here or in here) but I'm glad that they do as they are a great discount store and better than most dollar stores and a true credit to Joplin and what is coolest of all is that this was a really long sentence to signify the fact that it'll probably be a really long time until I come back here again and anyway I think it's time to wrap this up now like another really long thing when you're not someone that wants to have kids.

A friend said she couldn't take their attitude. Maybe the first time I visited was an off day as they didn't seem to be out of line. But, boy, this last time really is the last time I'm wasting any time in this junk store. Younger woman (like 58, emaciated, bad hair dye job) helped me with one of the watches they had on display in the case. Had $149 on the price tag. I asked if it were a windup or quartz. Didn't know. Well, if you don't know that, how do you come to a price? Box pretty sure didn't go with the watch. I was still looking at the watches she had and was seriously considering buying one of them at or near that price range when the gal flopped that dollartree throw rug back over the top of the counter blocking my view. Some chicken plucker or maybe an ex chicken plucker heard me mention I was looking for watches as I needed to put a battery in one watch and replace the band on my gold watch. He said to give him my number and when he had the time, he'd work on my watches. Dude said he worked on watches, clocks and grandfather clocks. This is like a doctor saying he's a heart specialist, optometrist, gynecologist and toe nail fungus specialist all wrapped into one. No way am I going to give some chicken plucker who hangs out at run down, junk shops watches worth a good amount of money to butcher. Then the older woman (like 68 to 75, dried up, scare crow with something about here that just didn't add up to a full load of bricks) stepped up announcing that she works on cuckoo clocks. But, this female einstein of the cuckoo clock repair world now had a problem clock with a gear she'd never seen. Well, not sure how many gears she was missing but if she didn't even know the manufacturer of the clock's works, that shows how great she is. Chicken plucker guy was of no help. Actually, I think he was there to move stuff. They have a great selection of junk. I have a feeling that some of their more quality pieces came from imported from thrift stores. They had a bag of pinecones (4 maybe) for around $3.50. Wow, I have seven pine trees in my yard and throw away a fortune everytime I mow. Clothing was amazing. I didn't see any bullet holes at all. Great selection if you're looking for something that was in style back in 1981. It looks like some of their tools were new, like the pipe wrenches. It looks like the ones that WalMart sells for a couple of bucks cheaper. Save time and money and skip this dump.
