I had pulled a muscle in my back on a Sunday and she fit me in the next day. Amazing work!

If you've read any of my reviews, you may notice that I'm a sucker for massages…read more Yes, I've given each and every one of my masseuses a 5 star review. But this time I REALLY mean it. No, but seriously, with the magnitude and amount of massage service providers in the greater Asheville area, many of whom offer Groupons and the what not, it should serve as a reference that I am willing to drive nearly an hour to have a massage from Lynelle at Synergistic Bodywork & Massage. I mean, DAMN! Someone told my wife about Lynelle, and after her massage she came home raving about how incredible, how amazing, how enrapturing the whole experience was. A few weeks later when my body shut down with a nearly crippling tension in my neck and elbows, she booked me a massage with Lynelle. I protested! "But I can see one of my other favorite masseuses here, and they're only a 5 minute drive away! Just let me buy a Groupon!" She insisted, and I relinquished. I'm thrilled that I did. Lynelle sat and spoke with me about my needs, my habits, my life. Next we progressed to the massaging. This trip was very much focused on my neck, and after much work, the muscles that were once seized became limber and fluid again. I was saved. Since my initial visit with Lynelle I have made the pilgrimage to Synergistic Bodywork & Massage multiple times. Each time has been better than the last. It's quite clear that she is getting familiar with my body, and working out troubled areas so that they no longer vex me in any manner. All I can say is the work here is worth every penny, and every extra minute it takes to come here. I am lucky to have found her.

I was gifted a session with them by a friend who was intrigued by the idea of a four-handed massage. At first I was a bit distracted trying to track whose hands were doing what, but I gave that up soon enough and surrendered to the duet. These two are well attuned, so that even when working asynchronously--e.g. one doing trigger points on my neck/shoulders, the other, Swedish on my legs--their energies blend. The quality of their individual and combined touch is informed by caring, intuitive knowing, and skill. Which meant I could relax. As an energy-sensitive former bodywork practitioner, quality of touch is my sine qua non. Bonus #1: Dan and Mariana work from their beautiful home in a wooded cul-de-sac. Their beautifully appointed healing room is the most spacious I've ever seen, and their table has all the comforts--including double-thick upholstery on the face cradle so that one's cheek or brow isn't pressing painfully into the wooden base. I had a hard time peeling myself off that 20- square-foot piece of heaven at the end. Bonus #2: They take the time beforehand to interview their clients about health issues, touch preferences, expectations, and goals for the session. Afterwards, they took additional time with me to talk about their evolution over the years as students of the healing arts. Finally, some days later they followed up with a warm email of appreciation, making additional health-related suggestions and attaching several pages of illustrated trigger point work I could practice at home. Wow. Talk about going the extra mile. So yes, I highly recommend The Massage Duo. In fact, I'm gifting a session back to the friend who gifted me.

She was accurate with her finding the tight spots and massaging them out. Many massage people just do the standard and slide over the tissue, but Mariana really worked to get the tissue to relax. My neck and body felt so much better afterwards, and I slept really well that night. It was both therapeutic and relaxing. I highly recommend her without hesitation. Truly gifted and I am thankful I found her. She also took the time to followed up with a great email that addressed some things I could do on my own and things that would benefit me. Very caring and generous.
