Roosevelt Arch is a grand entryway, named because The President was visiting the park, just this one time, in 1903. It's 50-ft tall, made of local columnar basalt. It was built to welcome travelers from the Gardiner train station to Yellowstone National Park, which starts right here.
It was very cool to walk through the short narrow tunnels through the arch. And we saw several elk on hillsides to the west. read more
