Hands down the best OBGYN I've ever experienced. She made me feel seen and validated my issues concerning my ladybits. She was incredible in the service she performed and made me feel reassured we were covering all our bases with the tests she requested based on samples taken in the lab. It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing this review about Dr. Rao. Due to her lack of medical knowledge and poor diagnosis, she almost cost me my life. She misdiagnosed my ectopic pregnancy as a miscarriage even though my HCG levels were rising and she had not done a vaginal ultrasound. She did an abdominal ultrasound before I was even 6 weeks pregnant and told me after she competed the ultrasound that the equipment would not detect anything below 8 weeks. She scheduled me for another ultrasound just 4 days later supposedly with a higher resolution, but the technician told us that it would not detect anything below 6 weeks. I ended up being rushed to the emergency room where I had to have an emergency surgery to remove our baby and my Fallopian tube. Because of this, my chances of getting pregnant have significantly decreased. I now understand that she only cares about the money. She charged us for every visit (even the 5 minutes visit she had us come in for just to tell us she thought I was having a miscarriage) and for the expensive ultrasounds that yielded no results. Dr. Roa is a disgrace to the entire medical profession. She is putting peoples lives at risk. read more

I found Dr. Rao over 10 years ago. She has been wonderful helping me through an ablation and all my well woman visits and now into menopause. I appreciate her perspective and input into my health. I am wanting to write this review because Dr. Roopa Rao has totally changed my life. 13 years ago I had my tubes tied after my last son was born, my periods progressively began to get much worse so in 2014, I decided to have an ablation (from another doctor) The pain relief for better for about 8 months but came back with a vengeance. My pain was always on my right side and felt like labor pains, I was bloated and depressed. I began to do my own research on this, and I came across PTLS (post tubal ligation syndrome) after seeing doctor after doctor, who would just not listen or believe the pain level I was at every month I finally was referred to Dr. Rao. My first visit with her, she carefully reviewed all of my medical records and said the magic words "you have PTLS and adenomyosis". I literally cried! Finally someone had taken the time and LISTENED to me. That was 4 months ago, I am now 6 weeks post op from a robotic hysterectomy and feel fantastic! I just wanted Dr. Rao to know that she has literally changed my life, allowed me to continue to be involved in my kids activities (it was starting to become quite debilitating), to lose some weight and feel better than ever! I have been going to Dr. Rao for over twelve years. I have been fortunate in that my doctors have all been pretty good, but Dr. Rau is honestly the best. She is soft spoken gentle and compassionate. This doctor almost killed my wife!!! Please DO NOT go there!!!! She misdiagnosed my wife's ectopic pregnancy for a miscarriage and only did several abdominal ultrasounds with low grade medical equipments. She said her HCG levels were not going up enough, but when we received the results, we were shocked to see that the HCG levels were almost doubling from 18,000 to 32,000 to 58,000. She is all about the money and cares nothing about your well-being. She is evil. read more

Got a copper IUD placed and had some heavy bleeding. I communicated that to her and that I couldn't feel the strings. She told me it was probably fine, I ended up pregnant because the IUD had fallen out. read more

I wish I could give Dr. Rao 0 stars. I tried to give Dr. Rao and her office staff the benefit of the doubt over the years because my needs are simple, but my experience with her and her practice has been horrible time after time. They do not respect you as a patient whether it's your privacy, time, or simple requests for courtesy. She also insists on completing unnecessary visits, procedures, and tests which I can only presume is so that she can collect more money from insurance companies. Also, Dr. Rao uses a male ultrasound technician who makes really inappropriate comments while running ultrasounds and neither she nor her staff are present to observe/witness what is going on. Listen to the many negative reviews. Dr. Rao won't be there for you when you really need someone. read more

She almost KILLED me. I flat lined many times due to severity of her f**k up and was in a serious coma with low hope for survival. My angels saved me and kept me alive. I've had over a dozen surgeries now to keep my life and limbs as a result of this huge medical error. I Have paralysis and cannot work, cannot walk... my life is over while she continues to live comfortably, live, love, laugh, shower normally , pee, poop comfortably, see friends, sleep comfortably, make money, have a husband, have children, continue the career she went to school for and be at peace everyday while i am suffering and struggling with all those and a few hundreds more tormented daily tasks. Avoid if you want to live. My entire life has been stripped after a simple surgery gone wrong . I'm forever disabled and lost everything i worked so hard for, at the height of my career and at the part in my youth when i should start life, love and family. I have suffered beyond what Anyone could ever understand. And continue to suffer with complications as a result. She's a butcher. Not a doctor. It's taken me 2 years to posts this... that's how messed up i am and how much ptsd i have. I'm not the same person and cry daily. I can't say enough about how much I LOVE Dr Rao! I was a patient of her's for years and unfortunately had to move & switch insurance. Although I have Kaiser, I've HAPPILY paid out of pocket just to see her. She is so kind, thoroughly, and takes her time!!! I feel so taken care of when I see her and she genuinely cares for her patients... which I have yet to see with Kaiser. Although my pregnancy is handled with Kaiser, I was able to see Dr Rao and do a pregnancy check with her which was my best appointment yet. She took her time on my ultrasound and explained EVERYTHING. I walked out of her office today with SO MUCH info and paperwork about my pregnancy with details that I've yet to get elsewhere. I love Dr Rao and her staff/office so much and I highly recommend her for any OB/Gynecological needs. She makes me feel so calm, comfortable, and cared for. OMG!! I had the same type of experience. I was in the emergency room with an tubal pregnancy and she was crazy rude to the Dr. And staff. She was so mad they called her at 10:00pm. And she was my Dr. Follow up visits she totally ignored my concerns regarding continued bleeding and pain. Told me to stop calling and give it time, I will stop bleeding eventually. Weeks later my general Dr. Found that I had a mass in the tube and I had to have emergency surgery. Thankfully Dr. Roa was on vacation with her family and I got a new Dr. I ended up losing the only tube I had left and am now sterile. I found out too late you can only file malpractice within a year! She takes the time that you need to talk about whatever concerns you and also shares her own personal experiences to make you feel at ease. I also have worked with her at the hospital and she goes above and beyond to make sure her patients have the best care. She also expects that the other surgeons that she is working with put the patient first. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a competent, caring, caring MD. Dr. Rao is such an amazing doctor! Usually I'm uncomfortable going to a doctors office, but she makes me feel comfortable! She is so very sweet and makes sure that you're cared for! Not mention the whole staff is kind and welcoming, every visit I have had is always quick and welcoming! She's respectful, reassuring, and funny! She's basically one of the only doctors I trust! This place is awesome! My first time here and the staff was so friendly and helpful with my feminine issue I was having. They gave me products to use for free and coupons, lots of advice for eating foods with probiotics to maintain a healthy lifestyle for my feminine issue. They actually care about helping their patients. I didn't feel uncomfortable or rushed at all and I love that they had availability for me right away. I was able to schedule an appointment for the next week and it was painless and easy! They prescribed me medicine to help my issue and I am healed! This place is great. This review is not for maternity care. I go to Dr. Rao for my yearly pap and other feminine concerns. I have always thought of her as a good doctor. She listens, explains in layman terms and is very prudent with testing. Her pap smear is not the most painless, but it's not the worst either. I went to her for heavy bleeding that lasted for weeks and instead of just giving me some medication to stop the bleeding, she also ordered me an ultrasound and a biopsy to make sure I did not have fibroids and pre-cancer cells. She makes sure to rule out major diseases instead of just guessing and giving you a pill that may or may not work. I give her 4 stars because of the wait time and it is quite hard to schedule appointments with her since she sometimes takes vacations. read more

I had a very unfortunate experience when Dr. Rao delivered my baby. She was very explicit to me and the nurses that she needed to get home in time to have dinner with her daughter and was rushing my delivery with no concern. This lack of care to my body led to complications resulting in surgery after I had delivered my baby. She also expressed how upset she was to have to come back to the hospital to perform the surgery because she was having family time. I understand being a doctor is a very demanding career. But I believe that after 14 years, she should have chosen a more family oriented career that enabled her to be home for dinner every night. Dr. Rao has been my OBGYN for 7 years. Since I was 18. I've never had another dr. And I used to love her. She used to be so caring and so available for her patients. In the past couple of years her hours have shortened, her office help has lessened and she has had less patience. She has become very short and today I experienced I very rude phone call from dr. Rao herself. I have had many problems with birth control and am very sensitive to high dosages. When I first went on the pill dr. Rao went through the leg work with me to find the perfect pill. I've been on it for 5 years and it is a brand name. Recently I've come across a financial strain and can no longer afford this pill so I asked her to put through a new prescription for a generic version. When I first called I guess I said the name of the generic wrong and the pharmacy kept filling a brand name pill. I went back and forth with dr. Rao's office and became very frustrated because her office clerk didn't seem to understand that I needed a generic. So on Friday I left her a frustrated voicemail saying I needed a generic and that at this point I didn't care what it was and that I would deal with the symptoms because I was so frustrated. Dr. Rao called me today and told me that because I said the generic name wrong it was my fault I was in this mess. I told her that I'm not a dr. And that she should have known that it was wrong and corrected it. She began to argue with me and at that point I was convinced that she was no longer the dr. I knew and trusted. Now I have to find a new dr. And it breaks my heart. read more

First, I am writing this review as both a patient and from the perspective of a Registered Nurse (I don't work with Dr Roa). I had a ob/gyn who I loved and delivered 4 of my babies. Sadly he retired and I needed a new MD. I found Dr Roa. She guided me through severe dysfunctional uterine bleeding- conservatively first with medication and then when that course was exhausted she performed a endometrial ablation. Thank God for competent Doctors. I then had horrible peri-menopausal symptoms with intractable insomnia. She was sympathetic and immediately put me on hormone replacement therapy. I was able to sleep again. I will be Dr Roa's patient forever. She is not only a wonderful physician, but has a great bedside manner. read more
