We contacted Rooftop Solar a year ago here in Flagstaff about switching to solar and they came out and gave a presentation. We thought about it for a few months and then in August, contacted Adam again and decided that we wanted to work with them. They came out again and explained how we could apply for a credit union loan (ours came through Puget Sound of all places) and how we would apply for tax credits. Rooftop then came out and did a site/shade analysis to figure out where best to place the panels (we have several very tall Ponderosas on the property), and then put us on their installation schedule. Meanwhile, they did all of the engineering, city permits, and APS communications. In December, they came out and installed our 23 panel array, electrical connections, power box, and everything else including things on the roof, in an attic, and on the outside of the house. They also painted all of their conduit to match our newly painted house. Each panel contains its own microinverter and wifi link so that we and Rooftop both can monitor how each panel is performing separately all day long. We had one panel that was having a problem and they twice came out, shoveled snow off the roof, and worked on it till the problem was solved (a new microinverter). They showed us how to operate the whole system, how to monitor using MYENLIGHTEN apps on our phones and tablets, and then sent us a detailed folder containing all of the specifics and followed up with a phone call walking me through our APS bill and how to read it now that we are both consuming and exporting energy. We also discussed ways to maximize our energy costs and production. Our system went live during the week of the Winter Solstice meaning that the days are the shortest and the sun is at it lowest point. Rooftop Solar showed they truly care about the individual needs of each project. They are incredibly knowledgeable and the fact they are certified contractors for electrical, roofing, and general projects was a great advantage for those looking to do solar carports, parking structures, roofing and ground mounted solar arrays. Adam and Keith made me feel very comfortable when discussing the different solar options available and took the time to answer every question that came up. Solar can be a very complicated investment but Rooftop made it easy to understand. The work they have done looks beautiful! You can tell the installation team treats every home like its their own. Sergio, Chris, Jay and Dan all work very hard to ensuring everything looks perfect and functions properly. Brian does a great job of going through the installation process from start to finish, and Daniel makes sure to review all the design to ensure optimal production! Hadassah, Seth, and Derek were all very kind and appreciative of new business, and offer all kinds of support. Rooftop Solar is a fantastic solar outfitter and Flagstaff is lucky to have a company that is so caring. Would recommend them to anyone who wants to switch to a clean and sustainable source of energy and make the world a better place. They are even general and roofing contractors in addition to electrical, so that means the solar car port I'm thinking about is even a possibility! I typically don't write many reviews, but it was such a great experience getting our solar installed I had to. Overall, I can't recommend Rooftop Solar enough if you live in the Phoenix metro area - we live in the North Phoenix/Scottsdale area (Cave Creek specifically). My job is construction risk management, and I travel to 5 or 6 multi-million dollar construction sites across the western US every month. I've also had the experience of working as the construction risk consultant on over 50 solar installations in AZ and CA on behalf of a construction lender (not any Rooftop Solar's installations). My wife is a real estate agent for a brokerage specializing in luxury homes in the north Phoenix/Scottsdale area. If anything, this made us challenging customers for Rooftop Solar. It was a breeze working with them through all of the upfront paperwork and financing. Our house is large, so our electric use is fairly high. The design was perfect, and the install of the new electric panel, inverters, solar panels and all of the conduit is hands down the cleanest I've ever seen. What matters most though is Money! In the first four full months of operation, our electric bills and the payments on our solar loan totaled $1,141.36. Last year, over the same four months, our payments to APS were $1,913.20 - this is a savings of $771.84, or $192.96 per month. These guys! What!? From the very beginning we were comfortable. Adam came to our home on a Friday to bring us the first rough estimates - which were less rough than they were wildly accurate - that he'd derived from a Goole Maps image, a texted photo of our APS bill and our address, and we talked like old friends into the early evening. We were then left to our own devices which involved no-pressure, self-driven research and chose to meet two days later to sign some papers. Fifteen minutes later, we were ready for solar, but not before we'd extended the offer of a spare room for our new pal whenever he's in the neighborhood. Since then, these guys have taken care of everything. Brian, the project manager, has made sure we know what's happening with the not-as-exciting but certainly important stuff on the backside every step of the way. Daniel came out and talked design and made sure I knew what needed knowing. Then it was: Design, approval. Permits, approval. Install... Which brings me to these other guys. My husband is fairly particular and our Rooftop Solar installation team, which includes Sergio and Chris, have made sure he's satisfied with all goings on at every turn. I can promise they've thought of everything, and are currently working their tails off to complete install on this thing tomorrow. Everyone from the sales people to the crew are so nice, helpful and amazing. Customer service cant be better! We're so happy we chose them to provide us with solar. They have made me feel really comfortable during the entire process. I didnt understand the difference between renting and buying (cold feet probably) and the sales person made it a point to come back to my home and had a graph and everything dor me to see the difderence between the two. The crew came to my home and were very polite, chatting with my kids even, helpful, clean and over and beyond their duties. They are currently cleaning my gutters! (They offered!!) Last year had solar panels put on my house by Rooftop Solar and couldn't be happier. I had quoted out the job with other companies and Rooftop was not only a better deal it was clear to me I was supporting a local business that gives back to the community. Going solar is not cheap and was a difficult decision to make in that regard, but at the end of the day it sure feels nice to know I did the right thing thing for the environment on a personal level. I will say that all personnel were friendly, amenable, willing to find solutions to structural and financial snags, very prompt in arriving to your site, and answering your phone messages. Rooftop installed a big ground mount solar unit for us. They used their magic box to determine ideal angles and location. Installation was completed last year and I haven't had any issues with it whatsoever, but have been saving a bundle of $$ by replacing propane and gas (car) by switching cars and appliances to electric.
