Much longer. What's to do? Well, you can walk into one of those fancy pants furniture places where the sales people are right there in their fancy pants suits ready to sell you their brand new fancy pants furniture at fancy pants prices. They always seem to have a big smile. Or, let's say that what you have is worth saving, where are you going to go? I have a suggestion. Maybe a little less glitz and a little more craftsmanship is what you need. Maybe a warehouse type operation run by a couple of specialists that know exactly what you need is the place you're looking for. Fine Touch Upholstery is just that type of place. Glitzy it's not. Warehouses are not glitzy. They don't ship out their work to some sweat house after they smile at you and hold out their hand. No no no. They have the sewing machines, cutters, materials, samples, all that stuff right there. They didn't have to order anything for my 100+ year old Stickley. All they needed was right there, even the leather hanging on hooks right where I could take a gander at it. Down home? You betcha. The difference in my living room is striking. From a lumpy old dumpy thing that everybody pretended not to notice to ob boy, where'd you get that? I know where I got it. If you've read this far, so do you. Living about an hour away, I called, sent photos of needed repairs, got a quote after photos were reviewed. Quote seemed reasonable, so I drove the furniture down to Santa Maria. As others have said they do their work in an old industrial building, were friendly & helpful, gave me a quote of 3 weeks. After 2 weeks they called & were done!! This Father/Son business repaired my Mother's broken wooden antique chair, repaired my broken antique dining room chair which others probably wouldn't even have tried, and re caned 4 antique dining room chairs AND repaired Mom's lamp with broken switches! They guarantee their work & I highly recommend giving them a try if you have furniture repair needs.

This company was highly recommended by a teacher in a sewing class. He even came in and discussed…read moreupholstery with us. I made an appointment for him to come give me an estimate. He "forgot". We made another appointment. He "forgot". We made a third appointment. At the point when he was a half hour late, I called to see if he was coming. He made an excuse that he had my number and was waiting for me to call him. He finally arrived nearly an hour late. He gave an estimate that seemed reasonable. He said he'd be unable to even get the couch until a month later and it would take another month before it would be done. He said he would leave a book of fabric samples, based on what I told him my preferences were, "later in the day". He did not leave the sample book. In fact, he never followed up with the samples or even with a phone call. It's like he's trying to NOT get business. I would not want to risk having work done by him--it probably would be months before he even got to the job, and he is not very good about customer relations.
