Laurie Satushek is the person you want representing you if you are a buyer in the Bellingham area…read more I know this from personal experience. In fact, I hadn't even planned to purchase a home in Bellingham, and was just visiting a friend in town, when I was introduced to Laurie. One thing led to another, and in a day, I was out looking at properties. Laurie is FROM Bellingham, and knows and understands the market there as well as any one person could. This knowledge base is of inestimable value. She showed me properties that fit the very narrow constraints of what I was willing to spend, what I was looking for in terms of an investment, the return I expected to get, etc. In other words, Laurie LISTENED to me. She didn't show me things she THOUGHT might work for me. She showed me properties that fit EXACTLY the parameters I was working in. This is a rare thing today in Real Estate. Agents are often so desperate to close that they'll show properties that have only the most remote connection to what the client has stated they are looking for. Also, Laurie was available to me at virtually all times, and always responded to my calls and e-mails in the most timely of fashions. I have been buying and selling houses for 20 years, and I wish I had met Laurie earlier. Having worked with people across the ability spectrum I can honestly say that I've never had an agent go so far above and beyond the job description as she did in helping me find the property that was exactly right for me. To call her tireless would be an understatement. And.. I got the impression she had plenty left in the tank. Add to that integrity, honesty and a great sense of humor, and you get an agent who is not only a pleasure to work with professionally, but someone who makes the multiple hours involved in hunting for, inspecting, and ultimately making an offer on a home seem virtually effortless. But the effort is there. If you're looking at homes in or around Bellingham, Trust this review. Don't buy a property in this area without first consulting with Laurie Satushek of Keller Williams.

Her upbeat, calm, and objective approach to the real-estate process makes working through the many steps, forms, and questions that go along with buying or selling a home a more pleasant experience. We have had the good fortune to work with Vanessa on three separate properties and in each case, she has been attentive, supportive, and often thought of answers to questions before we could even ask them. Most importantly, Vanessa never pressures or pushes and respects her clients positions, even if a decision has to get made - she supports the process, provides ALL the information, and then executes whatever decision is made. In addition to her positive attitude and her seemingly endless energy, Vanessa is also impeccably well-connected. Her strong networking skills allow her to put both homeowners and buyers in contact with people who can help them with any number of projects - painting, general contracting, handyman services - you name it and Vanessa knows who to talk to! She showed us many houses, listening to our needs and offering valuable insights. When we finally found a home that was right for us, we were ready to jump. Julie helped us write a competitive offer that was accepted -no small feat in this crazy market! Julie's help getting to closing was also essential. She kept us on track with every step and was in constant reliable communication with the lender, the seller, the closing agent, and us. When we ran into trouble with our national lender moving the process forward to close on time, Julie talked us through every option. It all worked out perfectly, (we switched to WECU where we got great service and were even able to close a week early) but the process sure was stressful. I can't express how valuable Julie's presence and insights were during this time. Julie is organized, experienced, knowledgeable, available, and caring. I recommend her without hesitation.

We just had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience dealing with Jon, who represented…read morethe seller and we were buyers. Just 3 days after the listing went live, we arrived for a site visit and made an offer $35K over asking price, and in a very slow and challenging market for sellers, due to ultra high mortgage rates and virtually no turnover of inventory on the market. We presented out letter of pre-approval and met all of his very time-sensitive milestones to submit our bid. In return, he repeatedly ignored his own stated timeline and deadlines to reply, dragged this out for 4 days, and then told us the reason for his lack of follow-through and timely communication was that he was skiing! We did not make a lowball offer - it was a generous offer, backed up by a pre-approval letter form a very prominent and respected mortgage broker, and he treated us with absolutely zero respect or consideration. Finally, in frustration, we withdrew our bid, which may have hurt the seller as well. We advise in the strongest possible terms to avoid dealing with Jon Hansen or the Hansen Group, this was a nightmare experience, and so unnecessary. Of course we are disappointed we didn't win the property, but that's not the reason for the review. The review is because throughout the process, Jon showed absolutely no professional or personal respect or even basic consideration for the value of our time or good intentions. Whether you are a seller or a buyer, you have many other choices for a real estate agent in Whatcom County. Look elsewhere.

We had a wide range of places we were open to, and many want/need lists to work with, that often clashed. He was incredible about making sure we got in to places that looked promising as fast as possible, not wasting our time with places that wouldn't work out. He was often the voice of reason, making sure we stayed on track for our goal. Once we got into a home for a showing, he was invaluable for not only pointing out issues and pros of the place, but keeping everyone thinking realistically about how problematic/beneficial something actually was in dollars and cents. His communication skills are astounding, keeping everyone informed while also being an excellent listener to his clients' needs. Not only did he find us the absolute perfect place, but along the way he educated us a lot not only on the local market, but on what we'd need to look for/keep up in our new home, moving forward. It's one thing to have an expert find you a home- it's another thing entirely for them to also keep your decisions well-informed during such a long, draining, complicated process.
