In fact, I hadn't even planned to purchase a home in Bellingham, and was just visiting a friend in town, when I was introduced to Laurie. One thing led to another, and in a day, I was out looking at properties. Laurie is FROM Bellingham, and knows and understands the market there as well as any one person could. This knowledge base is of inestimable value. She showed me properties that fit the very narrow constraints of what I was willing to spend, what I was looking for in terms of an investment, the return I expected to get, etc. In other words, Laurie LISTENED to me. She didn't show me things she THOUGHT might work for me. She showed me properties that fit EXACTLY the parameters I was working in. This is a rare thing today in Real Estate. Agents are often so desperate to close that they'll show properties that have only the most remote connection to what the client has stated they are looking for. Also, Laurie was available to me at virtually all times, and always responded to my calls and e-mails in the most timely of fashions. I have been buying and selling houses for 20 years, and I wish I had met Laurie earlier. Having worked with people across the ability spectrum I can honestly say that I've never had an agent go so far above and beyond the job description as she did in helping me find the property that was exactly right for me. My situation easily could have been put into one of those commercials and Elliot would be the hero realtor in the commercial that saved the day. The time finally came where I was ready to spend my hard earned savings on a home of my own. I started looking at places online but had no idea where to begin. That's where Elliot came in. As soon as I told him what I was looking for, and in what area, he began sending me listings in my price range. I couldn't believe it: of the first three listings he sent me, I knew I found my dream home. It was love at first sight. Elliot immediately booked a viewing for me and my fiancé. He booked us viewings for all the other listings we were interested in too. So the search began. After going to all these viewings, I still had my heart set on the one I fell in love with. It was time to put in an offer. We told Elliot how low we wanted to go and he respected our wishes. When the seller countered, we came back with another low offer. Elliot listened to our requests to still go lower. He let us know of the risks of going too low (that we could lose the place) but still countered, giving the seller reasons to take our lower offer. His persistence paid off and the seller agreed! Our experience wasn't over then though. We had issues with strata fees that were supposed to be included in the cost, mailbox keys that had gone missing, property taxes, etc. Elliot stood by us the whole time. He was quick to answer our texts, calls and emails no matter the time of day. He worked with us to make sure everything went smoothly, despite a lot of our issues not being part of his job. As stressful as our closing was, Elliot was always there for us and made sure that we were happy. Even after the closing, Elliot has still been there to answer further questions we've had.
