Both were more interested in telling me what granite I wanted and how I needed to buy from their "preferred" distributor than in listening to me and my wife. I was very unhappy with both of them and knew there had to be a better company in town. I ran across Jacksonville Countertops on both Yelp and here on Google reviews and EVERYONE had great things to say about Chris and his team. My first meeting with him went great, he was courteous and professional and gave me a price THOUSANDS less than the other installers. One had calculated that we required four slabs of granite and was charging me for 164 sq/ft. When Chris measured it, he came up with 114 sq ft and required only three slabs!! Seriously, is that that much abuse in this industry? Do they think that homeowners cant calculate square footage? Chris didn't leave my house before I agreed to hire him. His reviews were fantastic, his price was the best, and we hit it off like we had known each other for years. When he returned a few days later to take measurements, he had the latest and greatest laser measuring system. Gone are the days of the old wooden templates. I was quite impressed and immediately felt even more comfortable that I had hired the right guy. Installation went smooth, he and his crew did it all in one day with perfect fit and finish everywhere. We couldn't be happier with the service, quality and the end result. We are doing my daughters kitchen soon and without a doubt, we will be using Chris and his team. I've dealt with four or five shops in the past back in NY so I was familiar with pricing and the process already and felt very good about this place after going in to view samples. They came out right away after we submitted our deposit to template and didn't even require the old counters to be off in order to do so- awesome so we didn't have to go without counters and a sink for any amount of time between template and install!! They came back the following week to install. It was a very fast and efficient process. Everyone we dealt with from Crystal in the office to the template man to the installers were timely, friendly and helpful. She sent a picture to verify what it looked like. When delivered the top was yellow greenish and certainly not matching the cabinet that they made. She refused to replace it or the shower bench or offer compensation in any way. She was extremely rude and aggressive. She said if I did not pay in full they would put a lien on my property. Avoid her and this company at all costs. I sent multiple pictures that clearly indicated what it looked like to no avail. Even the drawer to the cabinet was a piece from another project as it had hinge holes drilled out. She refused to replace the door as well. For floors, we were pretty sure we wanted vinyl plank, and visited several places around town just in an effort to educate ourselves. We wanted something nice, something that really looked like wood since we had real wood floors in our previous home (which Mercury installed about 12 years prior, great experience with them at that time, too). We quickly discovered LVP, luxury vinyl plank. But even as we narrowed to that category, the options were seemingly endless. We called Cristal from Mercury who we had worked with on our previous wood floors, and she came right out to our new place with several options, just to work through what we wanted. Cristal is so knowledgeable and sweet! A real joy... she educated us AND she listens. Long story short, we stretched our budget as far as we could get it and chose a really nice high end LVP. We were happy! Delivery came on a Friday, and the install crew began work in a Monday. The install was expected to take a week. A few hours after work began, I got a call from Cristal. Problem with the flooring... her crew had discovered the problem fairly quickly, and opened about half the boxes in an effort to find flooring that didn't have "the problem". No luck... Cristal said she had already made contact with the manufacturer to find out if they could get replacement flooring expedited... flooring without "the problem" (the problem was most of the floor wouldn't snap together properly, and those pieces that did snap together would not seat together flush, left gaps between planks). I was very grateful to the install crew for stopping install and for Cristal jumping in to sort fixing everything quickly, but I was clearly worried about our condo renovation. You know how these things go... can't do the next thing until the first thing is done, and so on. And I was on a tight deadline... our current home was sold and we needed to move out by a certain date! By the next morning, Cristal called. The manufacturer finally called to say the entire manufacturing lot had "the problem", and they wouldn't be able to replace the flooring for upwards of 6 weeks. I gasped! She quickly told me not to worry, I could pick another floor and they would rush ship it. Hubs and I LOVED the floor we had chosen, but we had no choice... we had to pick a new one. Cristal came right over with samples... by then she knew exactly what we liked aesthetically. I looked over everything and quickly narrowed down to two... after a few more minutes, I decided. Cristal said she thought I would probably choose that one and it was more expensive than my original purchase. Great.... how much more? We had already stretched our budget. Cristal said no extra charge... Mercury would give me the new floor for the same price as the old floor, AND rush ship it. I was flabbergasted. They took a situation that was not their fault and made it the best they could. Like I said, amazing customer service. The new floor came a few days later, rush shipment as promised. But now the install crew was working on a new project (they were out of work for about a week after my project fell apart). But they came in after their other project, on weekends, late at night... whenever, to get my floor installed as quickly as possible and get my project back on its timeline. There were a few tense moments with the install crew, I will admit... there were moments I thought they might be cutting corners. But looking back, they weren't. We were all stressed to the max, and the crew was working triple time. They did a good job. And miraculously they got it done, and I was very grateful. Follow up work was done a couple weeks later by Michael... he did some tweaking to the floor and trim work after my cabinets were installed. Super attention to detail and doing a job the very best it can be done, even if it takes extra time or another visit. He was amazing! All in all, this was the best experience I've ever had with a service company. I ended up with a beautiful floor that is better than the original floor I chose. But I would not recommend going through the stress of this situation to my worst enemy! Im still in awe at how Mercury took a tough situation and bent over backwards to make it better, even though they did nothing to cause the problem. There is no other company I'll ever recommend for flooring... Mercury has a customer for life!
