When touring the Hearthstone community, we were under the impression that we were purchasing a Trusst home. However, after receiving the spec sheet in our contract, we noticed that the builder was listed as Southern Homebuilders. We felt the sales pitch was a bit dishonest, but decided to go forward with the home because we were assured that the same quality of construction was applied to these homes because it is also Trusst's reputation as it is their floor plan. We were told that they had to partner with Southern Homebuilders to help finish homes in the Hearthstone community. Since moving in, we have been doing nothing but dealing with problems, scheduling appointments for their contractors to come repair various issues, which has been a huge inconvenience and has greatly impacted our quality family time off that we blocked off for our relocation. Our BIGGEST concern is with our A/C system. Since day 1 it has not been correct, requiring multiple visits from Regional AC services. We were told there was a leak in the coil, which was replaced on a 2nd appointment. That did not correct the problem. Our daughter's room (13 months old) has been the hottest room in the house and many nights she was been unable to sleep in there. Regional AC came to re-balance the system twice but that has not corrected the problem. From week 2 - present the AC has not been able to keep up with the set temp. It has been set at 70-72 and the coolest it was getting was 76-80. This created uncomfortable days and sleepless nights with a cranky toddler and panting elderly dog. We insisted on the builder or AC contractor explore the problem more, but we were met with much resistance and multiple no show appointments / poor communication from Regional AC services. COME TO FIND OUT, our air handler is a 3.5 ton handler and our condenser is only a 3 ton. Regional AC told us that based on the specs of our home, we probably should have had a 3.5 ton. This took weeks of being persistent with Southern Homebuilders and weeks of wait time because "decision makers" were on vacation. Our biggest disappointment was with the conversation of the "VP" of Southern Homebuilders, Jeff Hilton. He spoke to us with such disrespect and we were trying to have a calm and effective phone meeting with him. The MOST shocking thing he told us was "I don't know what to tell you, you can sue is if you want" - word for word! I couldn't believe that we were actually talking to a VP of a company. This is obviously NOT the answer you want from the VP of your building company after spending hard earned money on a new build. Here is a list of problems we have been dealing with since moving in that we couldn't even discuss with the VP of the company: 1. Dishwasher drain leak into our cabinet, 2. Grout and paint left on our patio tiles, 3. Inoperable foyer light, 4. Inoperable pantry door, 5. Inoperable garage door remote, 6. Loose drywall taping on all walls of bonus room, 7. Paint on fireplace and loose propane fittings, 8. Leaking propane fittings on cooktop, 9. Loose and loud ceiling fans, 10. Broken countertop in guest bathroom vanity, 11. Broken window seal in kitchen, 12. Cosmetic issues with drywall & grout. All of these above problems have resulted in multiple appointments, poor communication with their contractors, and no-show appointments followed by random drop ins without appointments. We are still in the midst of getting some of these items corrected and can't help but feel we bought some sort of a "lemon home". ASK US BEFORE BUILDING WITH Southern Homebuilders! The only positive experiences have been with Lisa, the sales agent and John, their Project Manager. They have been keeping us calm and sane in trying to communicate with the builder. We are still waiting to hear from Shawn Horton at Trusst in regards to our experience. He has not responded to our email as of yet.
