Rolling Hills Middle School needs to do a better job supporting students, especially when it comes to mental health. Middle school is a time when a lot of students deal with stress, anxiety, and other challenges, but it often feels like the school does not provide enough support or resources. Many students who try to talk to staff about problems feel like they are not really listened to or taken seriously. Schools should be a place where students feel safe asking for help, but that does not always seem to be the case here. The school should work on improving access to counselors, taking student concerns more seriously, and creating a more supportive environment for everyone. Students deserve to feel heard and supported, not ignored. Another serious issue is the number of fights that happen at the school. It seems like fights occur fairly often, and many students feel like the problem is not being handled seriously enough. When incidents happen, it can feel like some students get punished while others avoid consequences entirely, which makes the situation feel unfair and frustrating for many students. Schools should be places where students feel safe, supported, and heard. Right now, many students feel like their concerns about mental health, safety, and fairness are not being taken seriously. I hope the school administration listens to these concerns and works to improve support systems, supervision, and how conflicts between students are handled. read more

If I could give NO stars to this school I would...My daughter was brutally assaulted for another girl while someone make a video of the assaulted and 3 kids around laughing..Lot of kids post the video in Snapchat stories in order to cyberbullying ...Nobody's at the school let me know about this situation after some days I found the video in Snapchat and as a mother I still nervous,devasted and in shock...I have to change my daughter to another school for safety and consideration ..The school never care about my daughter physically and mentally ..My daughter also let me know that spoke with the principal assistant , school counselor, office assistant and the Cordinator of after care program but they never call me to say that my daughter was brutally assaulted and there's a video ..TERRIBLE SCHOOL read more

If I could give this school no stars- I would. My husband and I both went to this school 20 years ago and now our kids are slated to go there. We are one of the few families who have been in the area long enough to have multiple generations go through schools. Middle school is hard, but the bullying my daughter encountered here stretches beyond just students. I am not going to air it all here- but I am going to honestly share that if I could go back, I would never have let her step foot on that campus. It was the worst decision we ever made. Some of the teachers are really good, but others are "factory" style and don't seem to care about any kind of depth of understanding, just crowd control. My biggest gripe, though, is a lack of transparency and communication from the top levels regarding academics, options, etc., and poor overall organization. Definitely a big factory type school; if you need any kind of individualization, I would look for other options. read more

My little sunny boy loves going here! He is really happy as his shoulders are now super buff from holding the backpack all day. Unfortunately the rest of his body is very funky fresh. We did had one bad experience here and as his mummy I think I should share it... My little boy got his backpack shoved down his throat and have been suffering the consequences. Everyone makes fun of him because you can see the backpack sloshing around in his small intestine and his doctor said there is no way to get it out. He also only eats cake for lunch (as a gift from me, his mummy) and he gets bullied because I leave notes baked into the cake. Because of this he is called a paper eater. People have also reported seeing pieces of backpack and paper in the toilet and have blamed it on my sunny boy! But all in all he loves going here as he has very loyal friends who once stole is drumsticks that he needs for band. People have tried to tell him real friends don't do this but my sunny boy and his mummy (me) think his friends are very lovely. Although sometimes he comes home crying to me as he was bullied for wearing his swimmers to school but I have told him it's not my fault he looks cuter in sunny boy swimmers! I don't want my sunny boy to cry so I tell him he has warn these sunny boy swimmers since preschool (yes the same pair!!) and needs to gain back the self confidence he had then. The swimmers are a little dirty as he has had accidents in them and it is a little stinky winky but I tell him that wouldn't stop me from wearing them so it shouldn't stop him. My goal is to turn him into a rock and have people call him handsome squidward as I know that would make him happiest sunny boy in the world. read more

People tend to flock to this school because of its Los Gatos address and higher API scores. However, my child didn't have a very good experience. The kids (and some teachers) were mean. The class sizes were large. Individual attention was nearly nonexistent. My child struggled every day. Once in Del Mar High School, however, my child blossomed with the help of their student programs and a little 1:1 help from teachers. It wasn't long until my child was tutoring other students. While many kids do fine there, if I had to chose again I would not have chosen Rolling Hills for my child. read more

I am a student at rolling hills and my overal experience has been ok, but recently my freind was ordering food in the lunch line and because of religouse practices she can not eat meat and dairy in the same meal. When she asked the lunch lady what was in the tacos the lady said their was no cheese in it but when my friend opened the box it was totally covered with cheddar cheese! My friend ended wasting money on food that she couldn't eat thanks to the poorly informed and insensitive staff at rolling hills middle school. read more

This is a pretty okay school, if you want my honest opinion. My problem, is the crazy counselor. Ms. Woods should not be in this job. A counselor's job is supposed to be trying to solve problems of a student and make them feel better, not worse. I had a friend once, who is pansexual and a transgender boy. His mother is catholic, and homophobic and transphobic. He was not ready to tell her yet, and just needed someone to talk to about it. Sadly, this woman gave him a DUE DATE to tell his parents and threatened to call his parents herself if he didn't do it and tell her everything. After this, he and his mother argued a lot because she was homophobic and transphobic, and a this was a while back. Another time is my friend who was suggested to go to counseling by a friend who saw her self harm and was told of her problems. This was the most messed up part, because this friend thought this would be confidential until she was forced to call her father to have a conference with her dad and Ms. Woods. This made a her super uncomfortable, and afterwards she cried. I honestly love this school, but this is unacceptable. I can understand that parents need to know if their child is self harming, but she threatened to call him herself, telling him EVERYTHING. This is very wrong, and these friends are not the only ones that have had bad experiences at this school BECAUSE OF THE COUNSELOR. This friend of mine told me she regrets going to Ms. Woods, and so did the other friend of mine. These kids have been having legitimate problems, and they should talk about it with their parents when they are comfortable, they should NOT be forced. This is wrong on SO MANY LEVELS, and should be stopped immediately. I really like this school, and I want other people to as well, and I don't want their experience ruined by this maniac. read more

Horrid, if you are looking at this school over Campbell Middle.... go with Campbell Middle. People assume this school is good because its located in Los Gatos, they are sadly mistaken. This school has massive problems they just sweep them under the rug rather than deal with them. The sexual harassment is insane and allowed... boys pants each other and call girls very vulgar names with no repercussions. I am amazed at how relaxed they are with bullying, they totally ignore it and teachers are known to actually participate and encourage it with little comments in front of the whole class. If your child is unfortunate enough to get the Mrs. Jones/Mrs. Alber do yourself a favor and pay for private school, these two couldn't possibly care any less. Every parent I have talked to felt the same way. They are rude to the children and parents, they dont return calls or emails and treat the children horribly. The only saving grace is Mrs.Davis in 7th grade, she is an amazing woman with a real passion for children and education. Her love for the children motivates them to reach higher and dream bigger, If they could only clone her and get rid of the rest of those losers! read more

My children have graduated from this school and have become good citizens by continuing college and obtaining degrees. I have to say that Ms. Castillo was a horrible teacher. She would actually not want to explain math problems and would tell the students, "figure it out on your own." On one incident I went to the front office and they said that I could sit in on one of the classes. When I was sitting in the class she called the office telling them, "I have a parent here in my room?" As if I had no right to be there. The tenure needs to be removed because there's some individuals that get into a field that they should not be in at all. Its unfortunate that the staff, dean, or other teachers give no support to these children that are looking for some kind of help. I hope she is gone and hopefully the school weeds out these type of arrogant teachers that are doing "who knows" what kind of activity off campus to act so hateful and not wanting to help the students that they are being paid to help. I hope Ms. Castillo is gone from this school. She is a negative person that has no patients. Those little rude remarks that she says to kids, she should say to the parents, then she will find out how ugly of a person she has been to these children. read more

Rolling Hills is awesome!!! Principal and teachers are great! As for the comment about parking from Sarah P...seriously?? Walking across the street from Safeway is too much of an inconvenience for you? You should be embarrassed by your comments as that walk is not very far. Such a ridiculous thing to rate a school on.
