The food is awesome. Most sandwiches and burgers are between $12-14. Absolutely worth it. The Mac and cheese toastie with caramelised onion was delicious and crispy. We also loved the poutine schnitzel (with gravy and chips) in a bagel bread roll. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for with eggplant schnitzels on offer that taste amazing. They are thinly sliced to give them a tasty crunch. The herbed Mayo with spicy sauce and rocket was delicious. Coffee is nice and served in bright yellow cups that match the venue. Indie seating is quite limited but there is plenty of big tables outside. Really cute place and we are looking forward to going again.

Hidden in the warehouse district of North Melbourne, a 7 day toasted sandwich restaurant is an odd location, but having eaten here 4 times now, I'm not alone in having discovered it. It's generally busy from 11am onwards, and there's a queue by 1pm. If you're after something light and tasty- go the Harry, if you're wanting something more substantial- the Poutine schnitzel served on a soft pretzel is great, and then for the absurd- grab a Mack Daddy- Pulled pork, Mac N Cheese between grilled cheese slices. Yep. Overall a good experience, but don't stop by if time is tight. 15-20min waits to get your takeaway goodies aren't unusual, and it's worse outside peak rush period. They're also licensed, so if craft beer and toasties are your thing, magic. Well worth a trip.

Love it. You can…read morenot walk past this place and miss it. Because it looks so out of place on a Melbourne corner, like it came here straight from America's dirty south. Mel P., explained it all. Their downstairs is for the daytime deli, upstairs is dinner at Longhorn Saloon. Being the sister of Le Bon Ton, you see lots of meaty options from Le Bon Ton itself. Came here for a Good Beer Week event with Sixpoints Brewery and had a dreamy time. (Sixpoints Brews at 5 Point Deli! I just got that.) The special was a Sixpoint brew accompanied by a jerk chicken burger for $20. How could I resist? The burger was so good, the chicken wasn't overcooked and was jerk seasoned to juicy perfection. Their appetizer of fried chicken tenders was so yummy, and came with a cheesy biscuit and cracked pepper white gravy. This was my first time seeing southern-style gravy at a restaurant in Australia, so obviously, I was stoked, that biscuit and gravy combo took me straight back home, and I loved it. I already prefer this venue over Le Bon Ton. Not too compare siblings or anything, because Le Bon Ton has a lot to offer, but I thought this menu was more intriguing. Love the setting, it's not dark and voodoo-ish, like Le Bon Ton. There's a sunroof portion letting in natural light, with wood everything. Staff was hands down, amazing. Every single host/waiter/waitress/manager was friendly and so welcoming. Seriously, even the barman greeted us with hello. I couldn't tell you the last time I had such a good customer service experience like that. Can't wait to come back to explore this menu further.

We're talking melt-in-your-mouth smoky pastrami, smoky turkey breast and reubens like you've never seen. Having had the smoked meat poutine at upstairs Longhorn, it took me a fair amount of restraint not to get this (it's listed as a side but is a meal in its own unless you have enough people to share!) ...but I was here to try the sandwiches. Thankfully I brought along my partner in crime so we could go splitsies on two. We ordered the "world famous smoked pastrami" and the turkey club. Which they could also get away with calling "best club sandwich in town". Both were huge (not side-splitting ridiculous) sandwiches, served with a mound of seasoned crisps and a pickle. Come hungry though. Both were so delicious. The turkey club was my personal favourite and shouldn't be overlooked in all the excitement over the pastrami. The pastrami is thick, smokey and not like any other I've had in Melbourne. Thicker than what they use on the poutine. I love pickles, but must admit I throw a lot away when people try to offer them up at American style places. Not here though, they are perfect. I ate both of them. They also offer an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast here. I'm not sure if that has started yet or what's on offer (maybe call first to check!), but if it's half as good as lunch I think big breakfast eaters and buffet breakfast fans will be mighty pleased.

The name suggests a connection to the street or bridge in NYC. Am I correct? Located in the alley between Flinders and Collins, parallel to Russell, it was a bit unexpected to find this eatery here. With plenty of tables on the patio and inside, the atmosphere was inviting. Being alone, I didn't want to occupy a larger table, so I decided to grab my order to go. After glancing over the menu, my eyes locked on the 'Reuben,' thinking 'this can't go wrong.' The staff were kind and friendly. Despite not dining in, they allowed me to sit and wait at a table. After a few minutes, I received my order and rushed back to the hotel because I couldn't wait! Excitement led me to open the box like a treasure chest, revealing a huge sandwich - the portion I had been searching for. In Japan, where I live, the general trend is to reduce portions to maintain prices rather than increase prices to keep portions consistent in the face of inflation. Now you understand how crucial this is. Another crucial aspect - the taste was on point. With a generous portion of meat, it dominated the experience along with the sourness from the pickled cabbage. It was a bit too sour for my taste, but I assume that's how a Reuben usually tastes. Overall, I was really pleased with this place and would love to come back again.

In fact, there are three other great bread shops within about a 500 metre stretch of Sugardough, and then there's nought for miles (?!?). Where Sugardough stands up is through the consistency and crunch of their breads. They don't over produce, so you won't be getting left over stock at the end of the day. This can mean that they won't have exactly the variety you're after, but you know it's fresh and that's of far more importance. They also do great (and consistently so) coffee, cakes, pizza slices and have some of the best pies in Melbourne. It could be the rustic loaves and pastry filled shop-front window that draws passers-by in for a closer look, and then it could be the country-home interior inviting you to take a seat at one of the delicate tables. This place isn't just for the sweet of tooth though. There are delectable hot, savoury munchies - spicy Malaysian pumpkin tart, spanakopita with salad and homemade chutney, and breakfast pies, to name a few. Don't forget to check the specials board, and when the cosy café is just too full to accommodate you, place your order at the counter then mosey on out to the back garden for some sunny, courtyard action.

As other reviewers have pointed out, it translates to "My Local" in Swedish. But what is Swedish about Min Lokal? Well for starters - the design. But what perhaps isn't Swedish is the attitude to time. If you want to unwind and have a long breakfast and catch-up with friends, then Min Lokal is for you. There is also a sort of indoor/outdoor room with a big communal table, as well as the regular seating inside. Highlights: the baked eggs with shredded leg ham was incredible. Also the Bloody Mary - the spice and hot-factor were just right, ice-cubes were made of a coriander-cucumber-salsa concoction; it went down an absolute treat. The coffee was also really good. Notes: tables out the back are really close together, so if you're discussing last night's exploits over brunch, prepare for people to hear you.

Found this place, along Fitzroy's myriad of shops and cafes on Brunswick Street. Its a turkish-family run cafe, that's relaxed in atmosphere, reflective of its easy-going decor. There's seating inside and outside on Brunswick Street, but we chose to dine - in at the back, out in the small courtyard. Service was really friendly, and warm, and most importantly, I noticed that the menu had "all day breakfast". Score! I love all day breakfasts. I keep it simple and go with the Sausage and Eggs - Fried eggs, with beef sausages on sourdough, as well as order their coffee (long black). Initially, when they brought out the food, it was the wrong order, but the waiter noticed it straight away, before I'd even had a chance to say anything. It was all fixed up in a flash, and told us that the chef was a little old, and needed some new glasses. The coffee was at a good temperature, and strong, without the bitterness. Unfortunately I didn't get to see where they get their beans from. Tucking in to a simple breakfast like the Sausage and Eggs was gratifying. Perfect fried eggs, (yolk not too runny), and the sausages were finger - sized but equally yummy! The sourdough, was a support act, providing me with something to scoop up the rest of the plate with. For $10.90, I was happy with the meal. I can see this place as somewhere I could potentially become a regular of.

That is not to say I was impressed - I was just expecting something pretty shit. Gutz is a sandwich bar cafe, that of course has a sandwich bar where you can make up your own doughy snack from a large range of toppings. But they also have a pretty standard diner style breakfast menu with a range of bacon, eggs, hash browns and mushrooms; and a lunch menu with burgers, chicken parma etc. None of the food is very exciting. But then again, most of the food is pretty satisfying - satisfying in the way that only greasy, salty food can be. They also have a pretty good list of vegetaian/vegan options on the menu. Personally I would rather eat at one of the many other cafes scattered along Brunswick Street or to go to one of the many great pubs for some fried food if I was that way inclined, rather than dine at Gutz. But sometimes to guzzle your guts is all you need or want to do.
