I'm very picky with Japanese food and sushi in particular. Haven't found a great sushi place in Hamburg until I tried Rohhäppchen. It's not the sushi I'm used to eat back home but gets pretty close.
I'm not a fan at all of chicken sushi, so we stuck to fish:
- Kluge Gretel - when we open the box we could hear a fizzy noise. It was such a nice surprise chewing the knallbrause - a party in your mouth - like pop rocks candy.
- Märchen vom schlaraffenland - the truffle mayo plus truffle on top was delicious!!!
- Betrogene Ifrit - the wasabi mayo and the crunchiness of the onions was yummy
- Rumpelstilzchen - some more truffle mayo but the arugula was crunchy and it gave the sushi a special taste. Hands down my favorite.
Each roll comes with 8 pieces. We also got the lachs nigiri. I thought the salmon was a bit fatty. It was a long piece of salmon, which kinda justifies the price. (5,49 for 2 pieces)
In the website, they were charging for the hashi, shoyu, ginger and wasabi, but all of them were included. 2 hashi came in each box wrapped up in napkin. The shoyu comes in little glass jars. So cute!
We also got the vanilla popcorn caramel ice cream, which was ok.
The food here is not cheap, but for the ingredients, quality, creativity and presentation (!!!) is definitely worth it! I wish they would create more sushi options with salmon and tuna, instead of chicken and add mochi/ mochi ice cream to the menu.
I very much recommend Rohhäppchen and will certainly be ordering from them again! 4,5 read more
