Luton Park is mainly a mountain bike park with lots of winding trails and paths but my boyfriend…read moreand I managed to get a really nice hike in since he only has a road bike. The trail map is pretty clear with different levels of intensity and the trail we were on was clearly marked. I believe the trails are about 9 miles total. Note that the paths are very uneven in some spots so it's not the best for those with limited mobility. All the bikers we encountered were super friendly and appreciative when we stepped off the trail to let them pass by. Be on the lookout for bikes as they can get going pretty quick here! We saw a couple other people walking their dogs and enjoying some unseasonably warm weather last fall. There is a restroom facility but it looked to be closed while we were there - for construction, COVID times, or maybe both. There is ample parking and the park itself is easy to find using a map and the entrance is clearly marked. The views last November weren't that pretty, but it was nice to get outside and I think it would be really peaceful and beautiful to check out in the late spring, aka now. We made a night of it by ordering some burgers from Bridge Street Burger Shack for pickup after our hike - definitely would do that again!

Or you can play it safe and go a few tosses over par and not have to trudge through the summertime bushes (we were lucky, as we've been told it can get swampier than it already is). The course is pretty popular with groups, so a few parties played through as we were going at a slower pace. Most are a par 3 or 4, which I've never understood, but the experts that I tagged along with seemed to think they were fair. Only a few baskets had mandos, which was pleasant - I hate to be told to go through a specific tree gap. Parking was more a suggestions, as folks parked every which way near and around tee #1 (also, there's a single porta-potty, thank you for that) and there aren't facilities whatsoever around the park. Despite all this, I thoroughly enjoyed my time on this course and would come back next time I'm in the area. Slight hills, check. Gorgeous greenway, check. Trees and bushes as occasional obstacles? Check. Blooming purple flowers to distract a child? Check. Water view? Check. Slight threat of losing your disc to nature? Check. Disc charging stations scratched into picnic tables? Lol, check.

I would say Provin Trails is one of my favorite trails in Grand Rapids. Some people might find it…read morestrange that I say that, but let me explain! Provin Trails isn't the biggest trail/park out here. It's not even the most glamorous. But to me, it's one of the most interesting. There are 3-4 different routes you can take, and some are of course more challenging. There are some trails that can be quite steep, and others that are actually more sandy! There is a section in the middle of the trail where you can see some mini sand dunes. I was really not expected that, so it was really cool to see them. There were a good number of people walking their dogs here, so maybe something to note as a dog owner. I would come back here!

Nate and I were exploring in the area and wanted to get some fresh air. According to the Kent County Parks website (https://kentcountyparks.org/parks-trails/dwight-lydell-park/), this park is 39 acres and has two playgrounds, rentable picnic shelters, and a paved trail. We walked along the trail and saw some ducks in the creek. I liked reading about the saw mill. There is a public parking lot across the street, and I think the park has its own parking nearby as well. This was a nice place to stretch our legs and move around a bit! I'll be back.

Super clean park, located off if east beltline and right next to the 63rd district court. They have…read morean infant/toddler section, as well as a section for older kids. Both play areas are well maintained and structures are very clean. There are also picnic pavilions and hiking trails, as well as tennis courts and basketball courts. I don't believe they have runs for dogs, but they are dog friendly!

Both lil ones and big kids have so much fun here. Heck throw in the parents too. Sometimes I see…read moredads playing on the hanging roundabout and moms going down slides! There's enough room to be socially distant from others and enough play spaces to keep kids entertained for a good chunk of time. There are plenty of parking spaces (unless there's an event then it could get limited). There are four basketball courts, one beach volleyball court, and three baseball fields. Plenty of grass for the fur babies to roll and roam, or you can keep it legal and follow the paved trail on a leash. Great park!
