WORST HOTEL EVER!!!
August 4th in the Chicago Area 95+ degrees outside. When checking in, the room we had reserved was not ready (at 4:10 PM)--check in is 3pm. Hotel clerk said it was our lucky day, so they upgraded us from a Queen bed to a King. After the paperwork was completed, we started walking to our room, and a creepy hotel employee came up to us and started pacing us, and saying we will need to turn the air up, the fridge on and all will be ok. WHAT?! Also, they made me pay for the room up front rather than putting a temporary charge on my card, before I even checked in! That seems a bit suspect right off the bat...
So we get to the door to our room and tried to use our hotel key, you know the type that looks like a credit card. Well that was a tricky little feat just to open the door. Once open we were hit by pure heat, like opening an oven door. It had to be about 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the room. We immediately started the air conditioning unit. The room was hot, the fridge was off and both doors of it open wide. We canvased the room to make sure everything worked and there was no bugs. Bed bugs or others. While looking around we noticed a light bulb missing out of one lamp, but that was about it. Looked orderly and neat, just not used for a while and very old. Went to get ice (we were on the second floor). The ice machine on our floor was unplugged. Stairs right there, so I went to the first floor for ice. Shortly after that we went to enjoy a night at River Edge Park for a concert. When we returned, and the room was still a hot room. Mind you we had that air conditioning running the whole time we were gone. That room was still hot! Went to the front desk (oh yeah, because the phone would not ring to the front desk - or work at all!), and the girl that was at the front desk was at best uncaring, unconcerned and condescending. She was trying to tell me how to check the air conditioning unit, and I told her to send someone up to look at it since we had everything set correctly. It's a simple air conditioning unit! Unfortunately, she said no one was available and that we had to wait for someone to come back from "wherever" to look at it. What??? I reminded her that it's a hot room, and we can't stay in it under these conditions. I expected the room to be cool when we got back, and it was not. I asked for my money back or some compensation for another room. She stated that we were upgraded already and that we would have to pay for an upgrade for another room. WAIT WHAT?!!? For AIR CONDITIONING? Not once saying "How can we help" or "How can we make this better for you?" I again asked for my money back, and she refused saying she could not do it. Needless to say, we did not stay the night. We left at about 10pm. There is more, but let's say you book a room here at your own risk. I am very dissatisfied with the hotel and customer service and tried in good faith to get some fair compensation or my money back, but to no avail. This hotel needs to be shut down! read more
