Not too long after that, noticed ants everywhere. All over the floor by the bathroom and coming into the room. Packed up and went down to the front desk. Interrupted the young lady who was in the back office with headphones in. Explained my room was full of ants. She didn't even apologize, simply said well that's not good and changed me to a different room. I didn't get the impression she was surprised to hear there were ants all over one of the rooms in the hotel. The interaction felt rushed and she seemed disinterested and distracted (still had one of her two ear pods in while talking with me). She rebooks me into the room across the hallway from my original room (now I'm in 416) and gets me a new key. Upon entering my new room it smells so strong I have to leave the door open for 10 minutes to try and air it out. It was so pungent it was actually hard to breathe at first. Some combination of dirty locker room and severe mildew. Either the odor finally aired out or I just got used to the smell, but it eventually went away. Finally I get to sleep and all should now be right in the world. Only I wake up the next morning and come to realize there is no toilet paper. None at all. Of course, I realize this at the most unfortunate time, after I have already used the toilet and now in need of the aforementioned toilet paper. I've traveled more than 2/3rds of this year for business staying exclusively at Hilton brand hotels. My account says 34 stays for 96 total night so far (it's mid September). Most have been acceptable. My last few stays at this particular hotel were decent. This experience, however, has motivated me to look into switching to Marriott and their family of hotels for all my future stays. UPDATE: Stopped in at the front desk early in the morning and let them know my room had no toilet paper. The lady asked if I was headed back up as she looked for some to hand to me, again no apology. I said I was on my way out to work, but asked if she could have someone bring some up and place it in my room. Returned after a 10 hour work day...wouldn't you know it, no toilet paper in my room.

The first thing I saw outside when I arrived was an obviously drunk man stumbling and struggling to stand up AND constantly grabbing is crotch. Ok, I thought, this was just bad timing on my part. I checked in and the front desk clerk was very nice. I went to the room opened the door and was hit with a horrific stench. To be honest it was a smoking room which I had requested but this smell was in another level of gross. The place was dark dingy and falling apart. I sat on the bed and tried to make the best of it but just couldn't take it. I left after 30 min. I checked out at the front desk and briefly explained the problems. I told them that I understood if they needed to charge me for the night and left. A few days later I noticed they charged me for THE FULL 4 DAY STAY, even though5t I was only there 30 MINUTES!! I complained to Travelocity sending pictures of why left but the management of the hotel refused to refund the 3 extra days. Shameful and disappointing. I expected better from the Quality Inn brand. I will never stay at a Quality Inn again.

Two stars for convenience of arriving after dark and being able to get into our rooms with no…read moredelay. Three stars off for the following, in order of when I noticed / observed them. Number one, the smell of the room-- at first I thought oh it smells clean, like a cleaning product had been used very recently. But shortly after, I detected an underlying mold-like smell. I had the three people I was traveling with come into the room and confirm that it smelled of mold/mildew, so I know I didn't imagine that. At least it smells like they're trying to clean? I did a quick bed check since that's good to do at any hotel/motel... the bedsheets and comforter seem clean, while the mattress had some unfortunate staining. I will simply say that the appearance of cleanliness is just as important as cleanliness itself. I am grateful for the clean sheets between me and those stains. The next thing I looked at was the bathroom, since I needed to use it shortly after I arrived. This is where I noticed the smell of mold is the strongest, and considering bathrooms tend to be more humid I was not surprised. The TP was fresh and the sink and toilet looked clean! However, I was disappointed by the filthy floor and what appeared to be dark mold spots behind the toilet on the wall. Later, I realized there is no overhead vent fan for the restroom-- this is probably not helping the moisture issue. I chose not to bring any of these issues to the attention of staff due to it being late in the evening , and I did not expect a helpful response. Even if we were shown to a different room, I am not confident that it would smell any better or be cleaner. I'm thankful I only have to breathe mold for one night. The wildest part to me (beyond the musty basement smell) was the state of the lampshade. It was spotted all over with mold stains. Even if staff washed it and it's just stains now, does management really think that's a good look? Anyway, that also confirmed to me there is a moisture / mold problem. Having experienced something similar with an HVAC system in an apartment I previously inhabited, I decided to look at the ac unit in the room. Thankfully, the filters in the unit were not moldy and the smell did not seem to originate from the unit. There was a window at the front of the room which I wanted to open, but there is no way to open the window. I stayed in 106. Dominos will deliver here, which is nice. The pizza made our room smell better. If management reads this please don't let people stay in moldy rooms, be better. If you think mold isn't a big deal, do some research and consider again.
