I was an aide here for a year. Do not place your loved ones here. Do not work here if you value your mental Heath.
The staff are overworked, and criminally underpaid. One CNA per hall is the norm. One CNA may have as many as 20 residents to care for BY THEMSELVES. Some these CNAs are absolute miracle workers, where as some cut corners in order to get everything finished in their 8 hour shift.
During the peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, they started a massive remodel, which severely cut the hours of the already mistreated staff. It's okay though, because they gave us a slight redesign of a T-shirt that now says "Healthcare Hero" on it instead of "Proud to be 5 Stars!". Oh, and they threw a standard corporate pizza party. totally makes up for it all.
I have seen residents, that require total care, be taken out their chairs and body slammed into beds.
I had seen CNAs be so annoyed by residents during a shower, that they turn the shower head to their face and say "What's that? I can't hear you! You have too much water in your mouth!"
I have seen staff members of all kinds who, rather than answer call lights, sit at the nurses station and play on their phones, or gossip about about a resident.
When residents pass away, we have to clean them, and prepare them for their friends and family to come be with them before the morgue arrives. There have been a handful of times where I have seen CNAs rush through this process at the discretion of the nurse, even though for many it is their first time doing it.
I have seen nurses dress up residents with severe dementia in ridiculous clothing (think sombreros, capes, ect.), put them in ridiculous situations or poses, and then take photos of them, and send them to each other. Major HIPPA violation.
I have seen staff members scream at residents and walk out of their rooms, leaving them unchanged and without covers. Soiled, cold, confused, and frightened.
I have seen nurses say things like "She's just being dramatic and wants attention." Only for the resident to need CPR moments later.
I have never once seen a nurse assist with feeding, or even serve a resident during meal times, despite their office being directly across from the dining room. They would rather sit in their on their phones.
Staff member accused of rape? Put them on paid administrative leave for a little bit and then bring them back to work WITH THE ACCUSER. Staff member accused of threatening the resident? Fire them immediately, we don't have time to follow a process.
Many students work here. Or at least they did till they all received and E-MAIL saying that they were terminated without warning. "Healthcare Heroes" though, right?
Their mask policy is more of a suggestion. Surgical masks expire after 6 hours, but they expects us to keep them for 3 days or until visibly soiled. Whatever saves them money. Administration also refuses to wear masks when talking to one another behind closed doors.
Despite the fact the only way residents could contract COVID-19 is from the staff, RMC still refuses to make vaccinations mandatory. RESIDENTS HAVE DIED FROM COVID-19 AT THIS FACILITY.
The head of the kitchen, is a massively narrow minded, arrogant, and all round mean woman who treats her staff like garbage. One day, they served McDonalds to the residents. The next day, I caught her debredding and reheating the same day old McDonalds chicken nuggets, poured the sweet and sour sauce on it, and serve it to the residents. It was called "Sweet and Sour chicken" that day. The residents knew what it was, I knew what it was, and she threw a fit about it when confronted. Her staff can't stand her, and neither can the aides or the residents.
Their website isn't even up to date. RMC hasn't looked like that in years.
I have seen members from corporate come down to check and see how everyone is suffering, go "Oh man that's too bad" and then drive away in their Teslas.
RMC does not deserve the few amazing CNAs and nurses that they have, and they definitely don't deserve your money. Stay far, far away from this place. read more
