I asked for replacement pillows (non allergenic), and they brought them within 20 minutes, absolutely no problem. The food is really good and well presented. The steak with the peppercorns is great, perfectly done. The burger is consistently delicious. It was a birthday stay, and the hotel put balloons all over the bed - a nice touch. The little touches are appreciated (but I feel for the poor person who had to blow them up ). We'll be back.

There were some positives that we still enjoyed (their heated indoor/outdoor pool is hard to beat), but for the price tag, this stay was really disappointing. Our room was really showing signs of age, especially the bathrooms, as there were cracks in the ceiling, chips in the vanity and our bathroom fan did not work. When we notified the staff about the issue with the fan, they sent someone to take a look, but weren't able to fix it. No further steps were taken to remediate the non-working fan. The facilities were also lacking as one of the showers in the women's change room by the pool remained closed for both days we were there. Considering that there are only 2 showers, having only 1 operational shower was not ideal. On to the food. We dined in at the Chophouse one of the evenings and the food was barely average. Our server's wine recommendation fell flat as it was way sweeter than the "dry white" he said the bottle was. The rosemary olive foccacia was served with butter instead of olive oil. The half dozen oysters were good, but my fish was salty and over-cooked, the medium-rare striploin was ho hum (pretty tough for the cut advertised), and the half lobster thermidor was dry and disappointing. All this for $500+ was ridiculously over-priced. The room service breakfast we ordered didn't fare much better with over-cooked pancakes and a rather sad looking standard 2 eggs and sausage breakfast. The smoked salmon platter was probably the best out of all we ordered. Again, at $120ish, this breakfast felt just as outrageous as our dinner. We did enjoy the pool and the hot tub a lot which is what earned JW Rosseau the 2 stars for this stay. I hope Marriott invests some money to update this otherwise beautiful hotel to really bring it back to its earlier days glory when it first opened.

Driving up there with the fall colours - spectacular. It's really in a beautiful spot, so it had that going for it. It didn't have....much else? I mean granted - I was NOT going there for golf, and it's more of a golf resort. There is not a lot to do once you're there and it's off-season. We did the escape rooms (2 out of the 4) and they were FANTASTIC! Well put together, good props and the rooms were fun. They weren't too hard to figure out but a fun challenge. Aside from these rooms and some ax throwing...that's it for 'fun'. The restaurants were fine - breakfast brunch was a good mix, dinner was tasty...I had steak on one of the nights and it was delicious and made with care. Nothing stood out about the food, it tasted good and there was a decent variety to choose from. The rooms were very run of the mill, kinda outdated and what you might expect at an older resort in northern Ontario. Nothing to rave about. Was this the place I'd choose for a company retreat? Probably not - but only because you're stuck in 1 spot eating at the same places every day...but if you're only here for a day or 2, it would be ok.

No thanks to…read morethe unseasonably warm weather, there was rain from Mon - Wed which kept us from our original plan to hit the slopes for the week. Thankfully, Deerhurst had enough indoor activities (pool, game room, climbing wall, escape rooms, nightly activities including a very good magic show...etc) to keep us busy until the weather finally cleared enough to go skiing at the nearby Hidden Valley Resort on Thurday and Friday. Our room was well appointed (stayed in Summit Lodge) but there were a few things that did not work very well (fridge didn't get cold enough and water pressure in the shower was weak.). It was also inconvenient to schlep all our gear up and down the stairs without an elevator but that's on us. Note to self for the next visit. We ate at the Maple bar (tavern?) on our first night (nachos, wings and a pizza) and the beers (Muskoka brewery) were flat and the food was ho hum. Next morning's breakfast buffet at the Compass fared a bit better with good selection of entrees but weak coffee. Freshly squeezed OJ was a big hit with our girl. Last night's dinner at the Compass was probably the best meal at the resort but rather pricey for what you get (2 drinks, charcuterie board, octopus salad and chicken fingers for $100+). There was a magic show we attended with incredibly kind magician, Don Gudel and the infamous Cookie the Rabbit, which my daughter loved! The magician was patient and genial. He took the time to give ALL the kids who did not get a chance to volunteer during the show a chance to experience his magic first hand by staying a whole hour later to entertain his little guests. We got a chance to stroll around the resort grounds and from what we could see, it would make for a very lovely visit during the summer months as well. Maybe that's what we'll plan for our next visit to Deerhurst. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and would consider returning.

We had a bit of time to relax and explore the property before the first ceremony and buffet dinner that night. The second day we had a gourmet breakfast brunch and then most of the day free to wander around more, enjoy the hot tub, and get ready for the second ceremony on the dock. Weather was perfect both days - high 70s, sunny, intermittently overcast, and really everything you could want for a summer wedding. Our actual chalet was amazing - beautifully decorated, spacious for the 4-5 of us, and had great views of and direct access to the lake. Our air conditioning unit did leak a bit but other than that, no maintenance or mechanical issues. Our unit had 1.5 baths - the extra half bath really made a difference in us being able to get ready at a leisurely pace which made the experience that much more pleasant. As far as the rest of the property, the communal pool and hot tub is actually in a relatively small enclosed space, but still brightly decorated/furnished and a fun spot to hang out. The lobby, bar, and lounge area are great for relaxing or you can sit out in one of the many adirondack seats overlooking the water. And the formal dining area where we had the buffet breakfasts and plated dinners was so elegant, stylish, and luxurious. Lots of white, clean feel, etc, and best of all, an actual piano! All in all, we had a great time and to share the chalet for two nights among 5 people, the cost was much more reasonable and easier top swallow. Highly recommend checking this spot out if you are ever up this way! @azfitfoodfun

Called Sunday morning, was told that since I did not show up, the reservation was cancelled (understandable). Asked if I could stay Sunday night in the same room category without having to pay for a new reservation (mind you that I had already paid once to stay Sunday night). Front desk manager informed my travel agent that the only way I could stay is to pay for another night. I run my own short-term rental business, so I understand that I shouldn't get a refund, even if someone else booked those same nights in my place. What I don't understand is if the room was still available (I wasn't asking for an upgrade or refund), and I already paid for the reservation, why I would have to pay even more to finish my stay. I would never dream of not giving my guests (who have done similar things) the option to stay when the room is still available. I legally have no recourse except to leave them a negative review for poor customer service.

The Rosseau is a beautiful resort, set on top of hill overlooking Lake Rosseau. There has been a…read moregreat deal of attention put toward ensuring that guests have a true Muskoka experience - including a small fire pit (with a live smoldering fire) right near the entrance. The rooms are top notch as are the balconies. No expense was spared on the resort or rooms. The reason why I did not give them 5 stars is because of service and a few small things that need to be rectified. 1. The staff is young and very eager to please, but the lack of experience definitely shows. As a result, we wasted a few hours waiting for a charter boat on a Saturday due to the marina's scheduling mix ups and lack of communication. This was very frustrating, and even though it was not our fault, we needed to escalate the issue before it was eventually resolved to my satisfaction - which was even more upsetting. 2. There are 4 restaurants on site, however the room service menu only has 3 options for a dinner main entree (steak, fish, chicken)? Why the wedding menu? In the end, I had to physically visit the restaurants, ask for a copy of their menu, return to my room with the menus and order what I wanted. Why not just add these items to the In room dining menu? Anyway, the food was always promptly delivered and set up with a white table cloth and fresh cut local flowers! (a lot of attention to detail). I guess that's why there is an included 18% gratuity for room service. Again, not huge issues - but those are the two reasons why I did not give 5 stars. That being said - I will definitely return and have highly recommended this resort to my family and friends!

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They made my wife dairy free dishes from scratch when she didn't feel like some of the other options and cooked up grilled cheese sandwiches for my kids for lunch when they didn't want their chicken wrap. The owner personally introduced my wife to the kids club counsellors so that she was more comfortable leaving them in the mornings to play. This went a long way in helping both of us relax. Besides the good food, great staff and amazing views. The other guests were so welcoming and friendly. Our daughters made friends instantly and we felt very comfortable letting them run around and play with everyone. It's a great culture that Shamrock Lodge has cultivated. With magicians, tubing, water skiing, canoes, kayaks, fireworks, and more. Shamrock Lodge really went above and beyond to always have something to do and look forward to. The only criticism, and its a big one, is that the rooms are not air conditioned. There was a portable air conditioner in the room but it was barely functional and the room was way too hot all the time. It was brutal and really took away from our enjoyment of the vacation. They really need to invest in proper air conditioning for the rooms.

There is a clean pool and sauna in the main lodge, and if you want to swim but aren't a pool person, not to worry because the lodge backs onto a gorgeously clean lake. A variety of watercraft such as canoes, stand up paddle boards, kayaks and paddle boats are available for patrons to borrow at any time. The chairs and railing was full of dust. View from Living Room was very beautiful but from the balcony the view was ok since the trees are in full bloom so it covered the whole lake view. I liked the king bed... slept in peace. But you can hear noises from other rooms. I was able to hear snoring of a man who was staying just beside our room. The views from downstairs are really stunning. But yes the Muskoka chairs they have beside the lake were not clean at all. Spiders were all over the chair and they made webs. If you want to sit then you have clean it by yourself. They have adventure area which I liked the most. But the problem is their check in time. The check in time is 4 pm but usually it's 3 pm. When we reached the resort we got the keys after signing a paper and when we got the the room it was not opening because of the updated lock. Our room was on 3rd floor so my husband had to go to the reception area to get a person for opening the door. They already told us before that if we will break something or do something then they'll charge us for that so we were careful with the lock and not pressing it harder but turns out you to press it harder while opening the door. While doing this it was 5:15 pm... and while settling in and watching the views of Muskoka lake it was 8:15 pm when we found the adventure area and decided to play table tennis the receptionist guy told us that we have to return the table tennis stuff before 9 pm. When we saw our watch it was already 8:30 pm... so we played just for 20 minutes. We were there just for 1 night because we were celebrating our 5th Anniversary so I guess to do all the stuffs you have to stay at least 2 nights. The main issue was shower water was cold as ice while the water of washbasin was cold as well as warm. So washbasin was fine but if you have to take shower then you cannot. Thank god we were there just for one night and came back home the next afternoon. While booking the lady told me that golf is complimentary but upon reaching she told us that they don't have stuff of golf if we want to play then we can go to some other golf course which was nearby. And since it was not "the season" so you cannot do any water sport too! So basically we drove 3 hours from Toronto just to see the lake! And now after writing all the points I'm thinking that May season is good to visit Clevelands House Resort because after May the rates are too high which is not worthy for this place.
