Run of your child has an Iep and Autism. My oldest did well, but they had more seasoned teachers beforea huge staff turn over. My son is struggling and the quality of the teachers and instruction is not as good as public schools. A lot of testing and not teaching the standards in depth. Fraud. Not serving special ed kids. Not addressing bullying after numerous complaints by numerous parents. Unengaged principal. Clueless administration. Untrustworthy leadership. Lack of common district supports such as special ed resources, field trip transportation, a field, a library, and community involvement opportunities such as assemblies and visits by local leaderships groups police or inspirational speakers. Scores reflect their selection of high scoring students as they push special needs or low scorers out. Marketing is fake and pushes unmerited awards. Try your district first. Do more research on charters in California. Many are actually worse than district overall. They hide a LOT. For a school that's taking so much money they shouldn't be serving pizza 3 times a week and should buy teachers basics like pens,cleaning supplies and toilet paper. read more

our experience here was horrible. Last school year 2 boys made shooting threats. The principal managed this poorly. One of the boys said openly he wanted to "shoot the school down" Another boy made a "killing list". The parents were not notified of both threats. I knew about the 6th-grade boy because he was in my kid's classroom but I was never notified of the other threat (killing list). When I talked to other parents they mentioned that knew about the 8th grade situation but never got notified about the other one. The school took lightly these situations. I was so surprised by the way all of this was managed since we had lost so many lives due to school shootings. The parents had the right to know, the kids had the right to feel and be safe, and the kids that made the threats needed help. The way we were treated was so disappointing. I love this school. I have been so impressed with the academic program and the culture this school provides. We couldn't be happier here.

My children have been students for several years and are thriving and excelling beyond our expectations. They love school so much, they were less excited for summer break-and (as a gauge) their summer is pretty awesome. We feel very fortunate they were accepted and able to be students at this school. Also, both years, the communication between teachers and parents is amazing. I feel fully informed and updated weekly with what is happening in the classrooms as well as given plenty of volunteer opportunities to actively participate. read more

The school looks like a safe environment. Some of the staff will do anything to teach the kids that attend this school. But it is honestly a bad environment to send your kid into. They don't take serious matters importantly. They will pretend like they are but they wait until you forget about it. When it comes to small things like hugging you get in trouble. The bathrooms there are disgusting they are barely cleaned. I've been in so many major issues but they put all of them to the side. They take issues like racism, sexism, homophobia, body shaming, bullying, and other things like that as a joke. When kids physically fight they receive minor punishments. I've received so much trauma from this school. They pretend to be their for the students but just manipulate them to forgot. Some teachers are willing to do anything for the students but not all will. They take so long to grade assignments. Yard aides have used the quote "I don't want to deal with this wait until you get home." They have limited sports. I'm glad that I am able to leave this district. I wouldn't recommend in rolling your kids here because they won't be mentally or physically prepared for what might happen while they are attending GATEWAY. I do recommend you sending your kids to WSCA they are way better at taking care of issues,a very good academic program, and environment. read more

I have a kindergartner in her first year with Rocklin Academy Gateway, and a 5th grader in his 3rd year with Rocklin Academy. My son was one of the first students to attend. I am so thankful for the school and amazing staff! All of the teachers are top notch and so are the administrators. This school has a long wait list for a reason. To the dummy that posted a one star review and doesn't even have a child in attencel-yes as a responsible parent, you should know that if you want your child to attend a great school, you need to start doing research a year in advance. I am thankful that Rocklin Academy is a closed campus and doesn't allow random people to walk around the campus interfering with my child's school day. read more

Don't do it. They use to have an amazing reputation. Unfortunately ever since the pandemic it has gone completely downhill. I have no complaints about our son's teacher. But I do have concerns on how the administration is translating guidelines to restrict these kids from interacting with one another. It has more of a prison feel than a warm safe environment. Do yourself a favor and look for another school. Our son does not do well with change or we would remove him from this school. These kids need a sense of normalcy and they do not have it here. read more

No school is perfect neither is this one. There are a lot of good things but there also somethings that i do not like. I will base my score based on my daughter's experience in Kindergarten. Pro: Strong Academics Field trips Caring classroom aids Clean classrooms Great lunch program with a french chef serving salmon..etc gourmet food!!!! Con: Not enough play time within classroom. Her teacher-Mrs Boyle was an extremely strict. She did not give kids any chance to make a mistake. I witnessed on several occasions she was calling out the kids, borderline yelling across the classroom..found this very intimidating. Later on, I heard from other student's parents that she was constantly complaining about boys in the classroom. Recommended K teachers are Chavez and Medd School has no fields Not enought shade for students. They are adding 1 classroom to each grade level in 2017 K-3 grade making each grade level 6 classes. The school is becoming sooo big. I hope increased quantity will not mean lowered quality. read more

I would give this school zero stars if I could. A year before my son was selected in the lottery I sent a copy of his IEP to the Director of Special Education Mrs Rogers asking if Rocklin Academy would be a good fit for my son. I was told that after reviewing his IEP there was no reason why Rocklin Academy would not be a good fit for my son. Immediately after starting Rocklin Academy my son was coming home with 3 to 4 hours of homework a night and a multi step project every week. The school schedule starts 40 minutes before other schools in the area and goes 40 minutes longer than school in the area and yet a rediculous amount of work being brought home. There are minimal resources available to assist children with IEP's and yet they continue to lie to parents that Rocklin Academy is a good fit. There is essentiallyl one teacher in the learning center and if she is unavailable your child gets no support. In the learning center they do work in small groups. That is great but if your child is having difficulty learning the concepts with nobody to help him learn the concepts group work is not helpful. My son and our family were stressed out all year long. The issues mentioned about and many others were escalated through the proper chain....teacher, special education teacher, principal, super intendent. The only helpful person was the teacher but it was not consistant. The rest are completely useless. the superindentant forwarded my email to the education director Mrs Rogers who even knowing of my sons problems througout the year did not once ever reach out to my husband or I to help. I would not recommend this school for any child let alone a child with an IEP. We have since moved to a great middle school in which my son is thriving. read more

Great school, great teachers and a great administration. My child is thriving at the school. It's heads and shoulders above any public school in either Rocklin or Roseville in my opinion. We love this school and most importantly- our daughter loves this school. We were on a waiting list while my daughter attended Thomas Jefferson for kindergarten - also another great school especially with the new principal. Once we got the call I was a bit hesitant because my daughter had been doing well at Thomas Jefferson. Two years later at Rocklin, we have seen our daughter flourish. And we LOVE Ms. Arias! She is the absolute best teacher I've ever experienced. It has a small town feel where every student is cared for and valued. The best thing about this school- the teachers do a great job getting the kids interested in education so they are focused on succeeding vs. growing up too quickly and being mean to each other. Bottom line- even if you have to be on a wait list, it's worth it and since all of the schools in Rocklin and Roseville are pretty great it's a win either way. read more

I have never been so belittled before. I had an issue with my child's teacher, so I asked her, the principle, the superintendent, and then the school's board members about it. They were all extremely hostile, condescending, and ultimately dismissed every single one of my concerns. They are great when they ask you to donate your time and money to the school. Once you disagree with anything they say or do, they will simply say "This is a school of choice. You may choose to leave if you don't like it." They treat your child like a data point. Numbers and dollar signs are all they care about. We finally left after they told me to keep my mouth shut about what had happened to my child. We've been here since they opened their doors and since we haven't been anywhere else, I thought that was just how schools are nowadays. Our new school couldn't be more supportive and accepting, and my eyes have now been opened. If you want to just send your children away for 7 hours and not care about what happens to them, this is the perfect school for you. If you want to be involved in their education at all, stay far, far away from indoctrinating camp. read more

My three children have been attending this school for four years. I've had kids in every grade from first through eighth. We have nothing but great things to say about it! My eighth grader is taking many standard classes, which would be advanced classes at the public middle school, and getting. High school credit. The middle school also uses Summit Learning for most classes, allowing the kids to go at their own pace. That's been great for my oldest, who gets bored if he's not challenged. The older elementary students have IPads to enhance learning, and the middle schoolers have their own Crome books. I wish their was a little more selection for the extracurricular activities, but this has been a great experience for my family. read more

My kids do not go to this school. Here's why: I called in February to get more information about the school as my child will be in kindergarten next year. I had apparently missed the open house held in December for the next school year, so I was out of luck. (How is a parent who's never had kids in school supposed to know almost a YEAR beforehand when the open house is?! I was calling around the time the regular public school was taking registrations.) I was extremely disappointed in how I was treated on the phone by a female employee. She rudely told me how they will basically not allow you in the building unless your child is enrolled and you have been been fingerprinted and had a background check. No private tours/appointments. How do I know if I want my kids to go there if I cannot tour your facility?? What if I had just moved to the area during the school year? I would not send them to a school I have never laid eyes on! I would expect more transparency from a public institution. Ms. Rude said she would leave a message for the principal's secretary about my complaint, but I was never called back. If I remember correctly, she actually hung up on me. Then last week I went to pick up a friend's daughter from the school as a favor to her and arrived a few minutes early with my pre-school kids, so we hung out outside near the play yard fence to see if we could see their friend. After a few minutes (when we happened to be walking away from the fence), a female yard duty employee told me I could not stand next to the gate. I told her that I was not doing so, I was standing next to the fence (which was true). She told me I couldn't stand next to the fence either and proceeded to give the inane reasons why not. Her attitude was condescending and disrespectful as well. What if I was there to pick up my own kids? Are you saying I don't have the right to see what they're doing, how they're being treated, etc.? I will also simply allude to the rude and disrespectful treatment my friend (whose daughter I picked up) told me she was given on at least two occasions by office staff (most likely the same one I spoke to by phone). Let's just say, don't forget your kid's shoes or try to safely back out of the parking lot during drop-off time or you will be reprimanded and your kid punished because of no fault of their own. I get that they want to protect the children--obviously I don't want predators to hurt ANY kid!--but a little common sense and basic human decency should prevail in most situations. Apparently that is not a value at this school. Keeping the riff raff out is more important. Beware! Maybe your kid will learn their 3 R's, but you will be treated like crap. read more

This school is honestly horrible. The teachers don't know what they are doing. It is a school in behind a RC Wiley. The traffic flow causes all kinds of problems and it takes forever to pick up your child. The aids are clueless and rude. The teachers are also very rude, putting down kids who don't understand the subject matter. The dress code rules are ridiculous. I, amoung other girls, got a referral for showing a bra strap on accident.The phone rules are also not thought through at all. Kids are not allowed to have their phones out at all, even if they need to contact parents after school. The teachers will take their phones and they can only get them back with a parent.We don't have many lunch/recess activities. I used to go there and i'm so glad I left. Please don't send your kid there. It is not the trouble they will have. Thank you. read more

This is a wonderful school. There's a reason it has a waiting list. The staff genuinely cares for the children here. The parent involvement is really high. It's obvious they spend their money wisely with all that is provided for the children. I would highly highly recommend this school. We are so happy here. read more
